Peterson sits out practice
A Startribune Post!
Already suffering from an ankle injury, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Chicago after he missed Friday because of an illness.
Asked if Peterson's illness was cause for concern, coach Brad Childress said: "It's a concern today. He's sick, but that's it."
Peterson has rushed for 554 yards on 90 carries and has eight touchdowns in four games against the Bears. Chester Taylor, who had 73 yards rushing on 11 carries last Sunday against Seattle, stands to carry the rushing load if Peterson is limited or out.
The Vikings' injury concerns extend beyond the running back position.

IR Concerns
I hate to see these injuries on 1st stringers, we’ve been so lucky so far. It was bound to start catching up.
As much as I’d love to see AP open his usual can of whoop-azz on the Bears, I’d rather see him sit out and get healthy for later in the season. We have an awesome RB corps behind him that’s probably licking it’s chops too at the thought of feasting on Bear-meat this week. I say, give them their chance.
I’m much more concerned about Herrera being out… so much hinges on the O-line being healthy and effective.
Berrian is one I never count on to be active. When he’s there, great, but counting him to not be injured is a mistake. I say get him healthy, put him back in for cameo appearances, don’t over-tire him, and then after the season is over, trade him.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

+1 except for the trade Berrian part
Why Do People Question The Vikings' Status?

Yes, keep Berrian
He averaged 20 yards a catch last year, but only 10 this year. He’s been hampered. He is poised for some good games in the near-future.

I keep wondering
what Darius Reynaud and/or Jaymar Johnson would do with a few more opportunities. It’d be nice if they got some during the regular season in case anybody gets nicked up in the postseason.
Both of them have looked pretty good so far, especially Reynaud on returns. JJ looked good in the preseason but he hasn’t really been producing much this year (granted, he’s not on the field that much). He got such a glowing review from that elite WR camp that I had bigger expectations from him, but he might need to stay in the pot and cook for another year.

Relax
After w3atching the coaching staff keep Winfield out an extra week and sit Farve for almost one half I have no concern that they will overuse hurt players. But lighten up on Berriman. We need his speed to open up the weak side for Rice. I mean who are you going to put your best cover man on. A speedster down field or a tall route runner. Double your pleasure. Then if you spread out to much Harvin slants down your throat. Isn’t it nice to have a real passing game.
You know, as you suggest, I wouldn’t mind seeing our back up running backs get some work. We won’t have Chester next year so lets see what we’ve got. But lets run them to the left side until the right side is healthy.
