So Simple

a Vikings win this week and a Packers loss against Baltimore wins us the division

vikes will be 11-1

packers 7-5

vikes own tiebreaker so will be 5 up with 4 to play

ALso as everyone knows we are huge Patriot fans this week, as a win by them means we are only a tiebreaker from being ahead of New oRleans.  Then we pray we run the table and they slip up somewhere.

Star-divide

This week is the Cardinals.  Last time around we dominated their vaunted passing attack, but this time may be harder if Warner plays

Now would be a good time to unveil Winfield to let him get some reps against a real offense

GO VIKINGS!!!

right now

for the conference tiebreaker
our opponents have 68 wins

NO opponents have 63 wins which means we are ahead in that tiebreaker

Well, so much for that

I suppose I could just start a new post, but is anyone else now terrified of facing NO in the playoffs after what they did to the Pats? Yikes! That team has no weaknesses.

They will be tough....

Have to bring the A gane for sure….no half-stepping in the 1st Qtr, nor prevent D throughout the game….

We are up to it….wait…..

I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!

Not scared at all

The Saints do have weaknesses. First of all, they aren’t great at stopping the run. Second, Drew Brees is 6’0. Most of his throws are after very short dropbacks. He doesn’t hold the ball for 7 seconds, or even 5 seconds. The ball is out in a hurry. That means if a team has tall defensive linemen in the middle hold up their arms and jump, there will be a lot of knocked down passes.

The Jets played the Saints very tough, and only lost because of two interceptions returned for touchdowns.

The Dolphins had a great game plan against the Patriots, but their defense isn’t very good and got picked apart.

The Patriots are not the Patriots of previous years. They are a middle-of-the-pack team this year. Nevertheless, they were in control of the game until Brady threw that poor pass that was intercepted. The Patriots are a bad running team, and yet they ran for over 100 yards against the Saints. Yet, that was achieved even with the Patriots dropping their commitment to the run during the first half.

The Saints are effective because they are a balanced team. The Vikings are better than the Saints at running the ball and run defense, and about as good in passing the ball. The Vikings’ secondary is almost as good as the Saints’ secondary, but the Vikings’ defensive line and linebackers are better than the Saints’ units.

The Vikings special teams units are better than the Saints’, except their punter might be slightly more consistent than ours.

The Vikings can beat the Saints in any game on any field at any time.

But that’s all irrelevant right now. The only thing relevant right now is the Cardinals game on Sunday night in Arizona.

Are you talking Madden video game or real life NFL? Just because our players might be “higher rated” at certain positions doesn’t mean they will actually play better football. The Saints might be a hair shorter in talent than the Vikings but they are playing about 4 times as good as the Vikings right now. And thats all that matters in the end.

Bottom line is, I’m extremely disappointed that the one year the Vikings legitimately have a chance to win the Super Bowl another team has to steal their glory. Seriously, even when we’re awesome we still have bad luck. Sucks!

Favre vs. Brees

One more thing.

Favre is 1-0 in games against Drew Brees. December 14, 2003, Packers 38, Chargers 21.

by medicineball on Dec 1, 2009 12:01 PM CST up reply actions

Make that 1-1

They also played against each other in 2006. The Saints won.

Yardage as a stat is overrated

Can you believe the Packers (the PACKERS!?!?!) lead the league in yards allowed? Ya, wtf!

Warner played in last year's game too

Our secondary will be licking their chops if Leinart plays

Um

Our secondary is not what scares a qb out in the NFL. Hell, we have to be bottom of the barrel in interceptions this year. I think Jared Allen is leading the team in them right now.

Yeah I know that

but I think our DB’s will start reaping the benefits of our pass rush next week

I don't think the Pack needs to lose for us to clinch the division

Being up 4 with 4 to go and the tie breaker was a clinch last I checked.

We need any combination of two MN wins and/or GB losses.

if we want to clinch it this coming up week, they do.

If the Packers win, they will still theoretically be able to go 12-4. We would be 11-1 with a win, meaning they could still finish ahead of us. If they lose, the best they could finish is 11-5, thus giving us the division with a win over Arizona.

And also, if the Packers won, we’d only be three up with four to go, and also holding the tiebreaker. I don’t know where your math is coming from.

The Packers, that’s who.

I clearly mistook what was said in the orginol post.

I really misunderstood that “will be 5 up with 4 to play” included winning the tie-breaker and not being 5 actual games up on GB.
