Around SBN: The Worst Team Ever Projected?

The exiled king of Green Bay returned to town with his own "security detail?"

This according to entertainment site TMZ.

http://www.tmz.com/2009/11/02/brett-favre-green-bay-packers-minnesota-vikings/

Star-divide

Wow, who'd have ever thought that Brett Favre would need his own security detail to walk the streets of Green Bay?  But then, who'd have ever thought you would hear the kind of reception he got from the Lambeau Field fans. And who'd have ever thought we Vikings fans would be cheering for him.

It kind of makes me wonder if he received threats that the team did not want the press to discuss.

Not surprising.

Lots of crazies waiting around to say their goodbyes to him, I’m sure. Not to mention the jilted fans who may have been looking for a little revenge. They are Packer fans, after all.

Personally

I wouldn’t set foot in Wisconsin without being escorted by several members of the National Guard, at a minimum.

But I’m biased.

Well, it's not even that

I, honestly, can’t think of a damn thing that I’d ever want to go to Wisconsin for. Ever. I would have to lose a bet or something.

I don't know.

I go there on Sundays every once in a while and to get the best pepper jack cheese curds ever right across from Stillwater at the Bass Lake Cheese factory and I’ve always wanted to go catch some muskies in the Chippewa Flowage. It isn’t such a bad place. :D

My cabin is in Wisconsin.

My dad was from Wisconsin. We escaped. Nice place to visit though.

LACES OUT, BRENT!!!!

I am not surprised.

At the end of the game, I noticed a few odd looking people in trench coats following Favre around as he did interviews etc. Looked like they were wearing vests under the coats.

A little overboard? Perhaps. But it is hunting season.

Yeah there had to be something that triggered all this. Guessing there are things that haven’t come out yet. I’m sure Ed Werder is just getting off the phone with his sources.

What I find funny is everywhere I read all the fans are ripping green bay for all the boos. Lot of pissed off people at GB. Funny how they’re the ones that look bad (on and off the field) in this whole situation!

Don’t forget that it’s hunting season and Brett had horns on his helmet. ;)

by boomy44 on Nov 4, 2009 8:40 AM CST reply actions

sure does

Yeah & he shoved those horns right up Green Bay’s ass. I’ve never been a GB hater even though I’m a Vikes fan. The rivalry has been great. I had respect for a small market team that loves their football and has such a great history. Its the Lombardi Thophy for crying out loud. Booing Favre like they did was so trailer park. He brought back a Superbowl to you guys. Its not 1960. Free agency rules in the modern area. Any player can move on if you don’t make a commitment to him. You let him go and now you cry cause he comes back & kicks your ass. Say what you want Packer fans but their are two sides to every story. You choose to believe Thompsons side. If he wins the big one with the Vikes you got no one to blame but yourselves.
I believe deep down Brett would still be a Packer if the front office would have worked with him. Rodgers is a good QB but Favre has it. Why didn’t you boo Longwell or Sharper. I’ve have lost a lot of respect for the fans of GB after what I saw on Sunday. Some of the fans did show some class. To you I say way to go. Nothing wrong with rooting for your team against your rival. KG went to Boston. Timberwolves fans still give him kudos when he takes the court. Its the way of the world, players move on. Some fans are a class act but its apparent most GB fans are not.

Packers fans DID boo both Longwell and Sharper

Even the though the only reason both left was because the Packers didn’t even bother to offer them a new contract (well at least for Longwell, my memory is a little hazier with Sharper).

So the Packers fans at that game basically booed Longwell (and I mean booed him as in, with more gusto than any other kicker that came there as a visitor, but had not played for the Packers previously … not just “normal booing”) basically for choosing to take a new job instead of remaining unemployed. I will never, ever, ever understand that attitude. I hear people say it’s “all in fun” but that still makes it classless fun.

I can sort of understand the booing

Division rivalries run deep. It’s not like when Favre signed with the Jets. But then again, I boo AJ Pierzinski every chance I get, but not Torii Hunter, and that has nothing to do with the teams they’re on.

To me, it’s basically Packer’s FO’s fault Favre is a Viking. Favre isn’t the one they should be booing.

How True

Your right Puddnhead, the Pack is always going to boo the team their playing. It is all in good fun. They could have showed some respect and gave Brett a standing O when he was introduced. That would have been the class thing to do. Just to show appreciation for what he did for that franchise. Then go ahead and boo him all you want once the game begins. Its game on at that point. Fans understand that. Brett came to the Vikes because he new they had a decent team. His days are numbered and he knows that . Is it a crime to want to go out a winner. I sometimes think people take this shit way to serious.

Standing O when he comes out is classless

I mean he’s playing against your team. Now, a standing O when he leves the field that would be better in my book..

I don’t mind them booing. Doesn’t bug me at all there is a rilvalry here. A serious one. Look at some of the posts going back and forth. And the Pack has a lot more invested in their team than we do. It is after all THEIR team.

But on the whole I hate the Pack and hope they all get syphallis.

I watched the NFL replay last night

It was pretty strange when there would be a play and there would be sustained booing and when they converted a long pass play there it would transition into cheering.

I’ll bet he remembers that booing for a long time. I don’t see his number being retired for a decade or more.

At this Point..

I’m sure BF doesn’t care whether Green Bay ever retires his jersey.
And when he goes into the Hall of Fame, something tells me it’s going to be as a Viking!
I’m both a Saints and Vikings fan, and I think the Vikings may have a little bit better team.
If they meet in the conference championship game, I’ll be SO torn!

by MissButterfly on Nov 5, 2009 9:38 PM CST up reply actions

You may be torn

but c’mon two of your favorite teams meeting for the NFC conference title. That’s about as big of a win win situation as you can get!
