Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

"He is Jared. He makes the plays. They pay him the money, and that's what he needs to do. But I think he's a (jerk), in my book, because he won't let me get on the field."

Too bad for Brian "Devin Hester" Robison, who has a tough time seeing the field with Jared Allen refusing to miss snaps.

Sucks to be B-Rob

TJack probably feels the same way about Favre. I wonder what word they substituted “(jerk)” for.

Let me get this straight

This guy is the back-up, Allen is the best in the league, get’s paid a ton of money, and one of those that wants to play every down on top of that. If Robison is so bitter about being a TEAM player on one of the best TEAMS in the NFL right now, perhaps a trade for a draft pick to say…..oh, Cleveland, Oakland, Seattle or St. Loius may change his mind? That humbling effect seemed to do wonders to Randy Moss’s “I play when I wanna” attitude. Sure, everyone wants to play, but when you’re the backup, you’re the backup. At least he does get some playing time. Hell, I can remember the first year I played football and was the bench warmer first half of the season. Get over it kid.

Robison’s comment sounded more sarcastic to me, than anything.

Did you read just the comment or the article? reading the article, this guy does not appear to be joking and was straight faced about it.

lioninacoma is right

it sounds like a lot of sarcasm. The entire time he is giving Jared Allen props. If you delete all comments from the reporter it sounds exactly like he looks up to Allen for teaching him.

He did credit Allen. But...
“Have I been happy with the amount of snaps? No. But those are things that I can’t control,” Robison said. “But I’ve got to control what I can control, which is, when I get out there, take advantage of the opportunity.”
“I mean, it sucks,” Robison said of his role. "There’s no other way to put it.

Not sure I’d call it sarcasm.

Every guy wants to play...

And I wouldn’t want a backup who is content riding pine. This guy won a national championship and was an Olympic level shot putter; you don’t think he’s competitive?? he definitely understands that JA is the man, but that doesn’t mean he has to be satisfied with his reps. That’s not being a selfish ass, that’s having the heart of a competitor. He’s dead serious about his reps,a nd being sarcastic about JA being a (jerk). I want guys chomping at the bit for playing time. Earn that paycheck!

Its not like he posted it on his twitter account

The dude was asked a question by a reporter and he gave an honest answer. Would you rather him have said, “I’m very happy to sit the bench. 4-6 plays a game are perfect for me. The way I look at it, I don’t have to condition as much as the starters do.”??

Of Course he meant it

Maybe this is what he meant to say—

“It sucks. I’m a good player and was a highly coveted draft choice. I think I can really play this game at a high level. And I go to a team with Allen on it. The guy is so extraordinary that my skills look diminished. Know I know what Steve Young felt like being behind Montana for so long.”

I was just reading that some draft experts have the Vikes picking a DE with the #1 pick. If B-Rob is what he thinks he is then he should step up in practise and play like Allen. I give him props for his honesty though.

He's joking, guys

LOL. This is “the guys giving #&#” in the locker room.

I like Robison when he’s not trying to return kicks.

it doesn’t sound to me like he’s joking or being serious. It sounds like he’s a good player who wants to play, but b/c of the reality of the situation (which he acknowledges and understands), it just sucks for him.

He is obviously joking

If you can’t see that….. wow.

Maybe this is the schism that Shefter was referring to! LOL

He is joking

I think that Chilly’s dry straight faced sense of humor is rubbing off on Robison.

The thing is that Robison splits time with Ray Edwards because Jared Allen leads the league in defensive snaps taken by an end.

I honestly feel that Robison should get reps equal to both Edwards and Allen during the first 3 periods to help keep our top two fresh for the final push. Jared Allen clearly has a much stronger pass rush early in the game than in the second half and 4th quarter. He plays a lot of snaps very hard and naturally tires out.

I mean, it is working because typically we’ve had big leads once Allen gasses out but I’d still like to see Robison worked in more early on. Robison has played pretty well when given a chance.

Pick your poison

One of the reasons we have been able to establish leads early in games is because of Allen’s ability to wreck havoc on offenses in the the first half. If he sits more early, then the opponents are more likely to stay close early. I’d rather be up 3 scores going into the 4th, than be up 3 points, tied or possibly be behind. JMHO.
