What Aaron and Brett were talking about, in my imagination
Transcript to this conversation;
ARod: Brett, I'm so sorry Ted Thompson is such a jerk. It's been a year since I've seen you in person... what do you think? Am I a real Field General now?
Brett: Nice try kid, but you ran my 13-3 Championship caliber team off the playoff road and into a 6-10 wreck last year. No Aaron, you're not a real Field General yet, but you just saw one beat your ass.
Arod: "Brett, you beat us twice but I almost led two comebacks when your defense went out for brats and I have a stack of statistics! Am I a real Field General now?
Brett; "No kid, you're still not a real Field General, but you can buy one of my jerseys in the Lambeau Pro shop and wear it to bed tonight....
and Hey Kid... About those statistics... you know while you were sitting on your big pile of stats last year during the playoffs and Superbowl?... Big Ben had 15 Td's and 11 Ints and won the Superbowl. Keep that in mind kid.
Also kid..when they fill you full of all that "he said he was going to retire thing "... remind them that Don Hutson and Forrest Gregg, two of the greatest Packers ever, retired and unretired 7 or 8 times between them, all while playing for the Packers. Remind those chuckleheads that Darren Sharper and Ryan Longwell both left the Packers for the Vikings. Remind them that Donald Driver had a try out for the Vikings during his restricted free agency with Green Bay.
AROD: "Hey Brett, you got any tips for me?"
Brett: "Yeah Kid, stop holding the ball so long, learn to read defenses and blitzes..feel the pressure, and stop playing against the Vikings."
Arod: "But Brett, what about all those Interceptions you threw over your career? I'm scared to get rid of the ball because I might throw an interception and Teddy and Mikey will be so mad at me.
Brett: "Ah kid, after 14 sacks I thought you'd realize that's been blown all out of proportion. My interception ratio is 3.3%, thats lower than Terry Bradshaw. How many Superbowls did he win kid? Damn Aaron, I can't loan you my testicular fortitude, you can't be scared to throw a few picks. Live wild, don't be a bitch.
Think about Babe Ruth kid... Everyone loves Babe... He was the home run king but he also led in strikeouts. He played for the Red Sox and then played for their arch rival, the Yankees. They loved Babe kid, they even named a candy bar after him. You're 10-13 and they named a street after you for 2 days. Don't worry about picks and stats Kid, just stay off your back and win.
I know you're feeling all beat up and tough, but I played through a broken collar bone courtesy of Reggie White, I played with broken fingers, broken toes, feet, ankles, once I played in a body cast blindfolded and we still beat the Bears. I played through addictions, deaths, cancer and Ray Rhodes. You just need to loosen up a little kid. Shee-it, I used to smoke cigarettes and throw up in the huddle because I was so drunk. Bobby Layne taught me that one. You should have paid more attention while you were holding my clipboard, you could've learned something from me.

Slow clap......
Very well done! Already forwarded to a good Packer friend of mine.
As for holding the ball too long
T-Jax should be taking the same things into his head along with checking his other recievers.
I don’t get it? Why does T-Jax go in at the end of some games while Copter is always the one sticking his ear in the QB converstions on the sidelines? At least Copter shows interest in what is going on and hopefuly learning new things.
Sorry T-Jax backers. Put him back in over Rosenfelds should BF go down would be the last thing I want. Copter looked far more suited to run this offense in the pre season B4#4 came.
T-Jax interest in improvings, or lack of it it, just tells me that he should go the FA route. He’ll get offered nothing and I still am not sure if I would resign him. Depending who comes out and if Brett stays one more year, we may be able to get a good QB late. I had thumped the Tebow drum before and this is not a Florida thing, but Chris Ponder of FSU has really impressed me. The biggie is that many mocks have Colt McCoy falling past the 20th pick and we don’t know who is coming out yet. Tade to get him . mcCoy is most NFL ready in my eyes.
This has been covered before
The third string QB is the starter’s assistant.
The second string QB has to focus on the game in case he needs to play.
Little off subject but I always find scouting and drafting hypocrisy in the NFL to be hilarious.
Texas runs a spread offense. Texas Tech runs a spread offense.
Vince Young goes top of the draft because he’s “got so many intangibles” and he’s “a proven winner” and he won the national championship after putting up numbers.
Graham Harrell doesnt get drafted because “spread offense qb’s often cant run pro-style offenses”, he didnt win anything substantial even though he beat Texas and Colt McCoy and was Heisman contender, and “he doesn’t have a big arm” even though he set NCAA records in passing. So no one is giving GH a chance given all the stigma. I’m sure there is something I dont know – but it just seems like teams pull triggers on QB’s based more on junk like winning national championships and the specific offense they ran than anything else.
Now some are questioning Colt McCoy because, lets face it – he runs a spread offense and he hasn’t won the national championship. Never mind that he’s highly accurate especially in the red zone, putting up rediculous numbers over the course of years, is an upper classman with experience and has been a Heisman contender for years.
If winning the National Championship in a pro style offense was such a big deal – then Matt Leinart would be an NFL God by now. (eye roll) No, being an accurate pocket passer who can read a defense, make quick reads and have a quick release has counted for way more than lots of things that idiots like Mel Kiper would have you believe. Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco have those things yet they never won a major game or were Heisman hopefuls.
Tim Tebow will suck balls in the NFL. Colt McCoy will do fine and should go top 10 and will be more successful than Vince Young.
We are the vikings.......resistance is futile.
OMG
That is so great. Gotta cut and paste that sucker and circulate
Great writeup! :)
I’m hoping that some of Favre’s gunslinger attitude rubs off on T-Jack and Rosenfels, they both need to step up their game.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
Took me some time to get here....
BUT DAMN, it was worth the wait LOL!
GREAT writing……ROFL!!!!!
SKOL and don’t be a stranger here!
I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!
