"Save the Vikes" Pushes for Stadium at Capital
Great story about a grassroots organization called "Save the Vikes" that held a small demonstration at the State Capital today in support of a new Vikings stadium. I highly recommend checking out the group's website and connecting with it in one way or another. Here's the website, here's the group's Twitter page, and here's its Facebook page.

I hope we can "save the Vikes"
Outdoor MINNESOTA VIking football would be awesome again. But I doubt the legislature will go for building another stadium at taxpayer expense ($900 million), not without a fight. I just couldn’t root for the California Vikings.

Thats why there needs to be a grass roots movement to brin out those that keep stalling in the legislature and start getting people to vote against them, get the heat on em. P.S., I did sign up too!

Just curious....
In the tragic event that the Vikings do move to LA, what would you do? Continue to root for them? Switch loyalties to a neutral team, maybe the Chiefs or Rams (who unfortunately are both terrible right now)? Swear off the NFL completely? As for me, I’d probably still root for the LA Vikings, but wouldn’t have anywhere near the attachment as I do with the MN team.

Loyalties
My loyalties lie with the state of Minnesota, where I was born and raised and will probably call home for the rest of my life. I have no loyalties to a team itself, but rather what they represent. In this case the Vikings currently represent my fine state and the pride I feel for them is a reflection of the pride I feel for this state. This is in much the same way that I am proud of Mall of America and any other item of recognition that represent us as anything other than “fly over country”. As such, if the Vikings leave I will, by default, personally sever all connections with the franchise and remember them only as I would a dead relative. The LA Vikings aren’t our Vikings, but rather a genetic clone of what we once had.

Same here....
It is more than just the team….it is what they represent of the people/state/mid set in MN…What does MN offer/present?
We have Prince, bravery to elect Jesse as governor, more bravery to elect Frankl to the senate, past presidential candidates (Humphrey), the Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, the Icebox of the Nation (I-Falls – YEAH!), Hollywoood stars, infamous people like Tammy Faye, a world renowned medical clinic/center, a first class prison that people like the Herr Baker get sent to (LOL), over 10,000 lakes, LOTS of cold and snow in Winter, Lake Wobegan, great schools, and much more…and ALL in MN….
The Vikings fit into the MN mystique…If they moved, no team mystyque for me….and I would probably just drop interest in watching any team week to week….much like Formula I racing in the Schumacher years, there was a core of friends/family that faithfully watched the races week in and week out….once he retired, we all slipped into other activities (still do darts, etc. which is maybe better than before?)….
No MN for Vikings? Vikingfanfrom afar would have to find another activity to track….maybe politics (haha)…Also entertaining though…..hmmmmmmmmmm
Let’s just get a new stadium and put all this talk of moving to rest!
SKOL!
I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!

Will agree
For me, the North Stars became defunct in 1993, 3 years after my family relocated to New Mexico. And too this day I refuse to recognize an unnamed team in TX as a legit team in the NHL. I still have a loyalty to MINNESOTA teams that are in Minnesota. While technically, when I turned 34 (36 now), I have spent over half my life in New Mexico, Minny always has been and always will be home. PERIOD. While I give credit for Wilf for not saying right off what Moron McCombs had taken one season to say, that moving is an option, I know he is frustrated just like all of us are. All in all, I still see the Jags moving before we do. Yeah, we have a crappy situation in the Dome, but we still sell out. The Jags cant even keep the stadium 3/4’s full and are much worse off then we are. I still believe something will be worked out especially if the political morons in St. Paul see a pending revolution coming.
But yes, if the unthinkable were to happen again, my time following the NFL would come to an end until such time we, as a state, returned. I really don’t want to go through what the people in Cleveland had to endure.

Are you referring to the fact that they lost their old team or the fact that they never really got a new one worth watching?

Both

Pretty much the same thing I did with the North Stars
sever all ties. The only reason I got any satisfaction out of the Dallas Stars’ Cup win was Langenbrunner and Brett Hull.
Since I’m in Maryland and my wife is a big Steelers fan, I’d probably move over the black and gold if the Vikings apocalypse happened.

Leading the cause...
Hello Daily Norseman! Thanks for posting and showing your support for the stadium drive! I hope to do everything I can to unite and ignite Vikings fans in order to leverage our power in numbers to make a stadium deal happen. The best way to do this is to email and contact your House Reps/Senators/Governor and let them know your desire to see the Legislature open up the next session engaging the Vikings and the public in order to find a solution to the stadium issue.
Easy way to do this is to go to www.savethevikes.org/huddle-up/ where you can easily find your State leaders and simply copy and paste the letter into your email editor and send.
While there, please register on the right hand side so we can keep you updated on the latest developments with the stadium issue.
The Vikings are on the bye, but SavetheVikes.org is not! Please spread the word, friend us on Facebook, follow our tweets on Twitter and spread the word!
