Another awesome week coming up?
This coming week in football could be just as satisfying as this past week was. Speaking of satisfaction -- this week was about as satisfying of a bye week that a fan of the Minnesota Vikings could hope for. I don't need to go into detail here, we all know why..... I can't resist -- because the Bears got slaughtered, the Packers got embarrassed, and the Lions did what the Lions do, that's why! Maybe the only things better would have been:
- If the Saints lost to the Panthers.
- I also saw someone mention that with the Giants losing this week, perhaps their season is shaping up to them needing a win in week 17, so I guess you could debate that it would have been better that they had won? Maybe.
Anyhow, to the point. The Vikings could very well be the only winners of the division again this coming week. With the Bears facing the 49ers in SF this Thursday, the Packers facing the division leading Cowboys, and the Lions facing the division leading Vikings, I'd say that this scenario is very realistic. Added bonus; putting any hopes of playoff possibilities even further away from the Bears and Packers. I know their playoff chances are a longshot already as Gonzo pointed out yesterday, but I'm all for that fat lady's voice becoming even louder after this Sunday. If the division were to shape up the way we hope, we'd have:
Vikings @ 8-1
Packers @ 4-5
Bears @ 4-5
Lions @ 1-8
How sweet it would be, too. I'd say at that point we could be comfortable in saying we're in. I'm really not too concerned about the Packers game, but I really want SF to step up and destroy the Bears. What do you guys think will happen?

At this point...
Since we have a pretty good lead, I wouldn’t mind having the packers, bears and lions winning the majority of their remaining games – that way they’ll have lower draft picks next year

Maybe the Packers and Lions
But the Bears traded away their first and second round picks for Cutler……. Too funny!

Correct me if I am mistaken
But don’t the Bears only have 3rd round picks next two years? Dear God they will be bad.

Wow
Just wow…
That’s a really good point.
They could get to be worse than the Lions for the next several years.

We win five and beat the bears once and I think we've clinched the division
And that’s if the Pack and the Bears don’t lose a single game in the future. I’m pretty sure the Bears are at least looking at two losses :D

Does the 5 include the win against Chicago?
Or does it need to be 5 plus a win against Chicago?
by Figgs on Nov 9, 2009 2:09 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
If the 5 wins includes CHI we win the division on better division record
by PurpleJesus on Nov 9, 2009 3:26 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Actually CHI could only win 11 if we beat them once so we win
by PurpleJesus on Nov 9, 2009 3:27 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It was with the beat down of Chicago.
Five wins and all we have to worry about is a bye. However, I’m starting to think we’ll tag it in three wins.

If Demarcus Ware doesn't break Rodgers
I can see the Packers beating Dallas this week. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see the Packers lose, but they are desparate and at home. The Cowboy are coming off an emotional game and lead their division so they don’t need it as bad. The 49ers are dangerous at home and have a great chance to beat the Bears.
Truthfully the Vikings don’t need to worry about the Packers and the Bears. They just need to continue winning. The Vikings will beat Detroit, and will take care of business against Seattle next week.

In regards to the poll:
You really only had one option left as far as possible winning permutations, so if you just said only the Lions win, you would have had the exact same length of poll…

"Only the the Lions win"
Yeah, that's a major flaw in the poll

No - there were more
Lions win, Packers and Bears lose
Lions and Packers win, Bears lose
Lions and Bears win, Packers lose
Lions, Packers and Bears all win.

Funny Figgs
I do think the Lions will get another win in the division it just won’t be against the Vikes.
by iowaron on Nov 10, 2009 6:00 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
8-0
I think the vikes go undefeated at home. Good teams should win at home. So that means 5 more wins. The vikes should go 13-3, maybe 12-4 worst case scenario. The question I have, is, would 12-4 be good enough for 1st rd. bye?

A first round bye is ours to lose
we currently have the #2 seed in the NFC and we should have the #2 seed at the end of the season

Packers wake up
I actually woundn’t mind seeing the Pack beat the Cowboys. They aren’t going to catch us & Dallas is the only team in the NFC with just 2 losses everyone else other than the Saints & Vikes have at least 3 . So cmon Pack beat Dallas. We control our own destiny anyway but a little help doesn’t hurt..

Their Toast
The Bears are the only team in the division that has any chance and thats because they haven’t played us yet. They would need to sweep us to have a shot. On second thought thats why they can’t win the division because they haven’t played us yet.
