Stirring the pot & other odd thoughts
Great bye week for the Purple
First lets get some of your thoughts on Tahi.
My thinking is that we do very well running Sasser&Dugin out of the backfield and could use Tahi's spot to increase
Chesters playing time and maybe let Albert Young see some.
An odd thought(funny thought)after checking Acme Packing Co.and seeing all the calls for TT's head.
(now let me make it clear that I wont do this)But I thought it would be interesting to suggest that TT
planned to clean up this mess but had to clear cap space so he is sending Aaron Kampman
to the Vikings for 4th & 5th round picks!
I think that would surely stir there pot!
Just wanted to get some comments going, so dont be shy (LOL)

Vikings Cap space is Nil
Sorry but we can’t afford any high priced anything. My understanding is that we are over the cap and only get to proceed by some very clever contract language instituted by Vikings management. Plus why would you want an aging underachiever on your roster?

I did reread
I’m not trying to rain on your parade but even if we gave up a 4th and 5th for Kampman we can’t afford his $3,000,000 salary. Plus his contract is up this year so if they franchise him it would be $7,000,000. If they let him go someone should offer pretty good money for him. I just don’t see it happening for the Vikes. Plus why would you want an aging, high priced, underachiever on your roster anyway?

Kampman
Kampman is not really an underachiever, he just does not fit the 3-4. He is an outstanding 4-3 end who commands a double team nearly on every play (9.5 sacks in ‘08), and just imagine a pass rush with Jared Allen and Kampman coming at the QB at the same time every play. Assuming that Phat Pat (if he’s still with us) and Kevin Williams need double teams, one of those guys is going to get a single blocker and just waste the QB. Even if Pat’s not with us, we’ll still need a total of 6 guys to block three (Kevin, Jared and Aaron), and that leaves the very capable Fred Evans or Letroy Guion to get up the field. Our D-Line would be a very scary monster of a machine with a guy like Kampman. The other bonus to Kampman is that he is also solid in the run game, which can be Jared Allen’s Achilles Heel.
As for cap space, we’ll have plenty of that for next year, Chest will be gone so we won’t be paying him. We could use his money towards a Kampman deal, if we could get him for a 4th and 5th rounder, why the hell shouldn’t we? And if Wilf thought it was possible, he’d do it for sure. He’s more than happy to spend money on this team and make us better, he’s proven that.
Now, I don’t see the Packers trading Kampan to the Vikings, especially after this year with Favre biting them in the ass. I couldn’t see them trading another player to their arch rivals.

Why not?
I see the Pack like a minor league baseball team for the Vikes. They get people trained up then send them over to us to play real foot ball…
:D

LOL
Loved this! Now THAT should be posted on ACME site….
Maybe question them also as to whom they want to send over next…..Ask them who they think is “trained up enough” to perform at a Viking level….
Surely only a few hehe….maybe Rodgers in a couple of years (if he survives the weekly pummeling he is taking thanks to their less than stellar O line – and I am being KIND when I say this)…
What a great day to be a Viking fan!
SKOL!
P.S. ACME….your team sucks (Chicago ditto) – even Silvers has gotten off the bandwagon now on GB…..
I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!

No way we get Kampman...
Yes, this would be a whole barrel of monkeys worth of fun, but it ain’t gonna happen. First off, the trade deadline is over, so that means that GB would have to pull a sign and trade, but Kampman is going to hit the free agent market because GB is stupid and missed out on trading him out of a terrible change of position. What we need is cash to sign a top tier rookie QB. Plain and simple, we can’t afford to get greedy and have 4 All-Pro level linemen, and we can’t afford to pay Kampman RDE money to play LDE. I think if we see Robison on the Left a little more often, possibly platooning him in to spell Ray and Jared over the course of the game, it would make a big difference in how we close out games… Just a thought.

Kampmann would be the proverbial
square peg in a round hole, to a small extent. He is a RDE, like Jared Allen, and moving to LDE isn’t just a snap of the fingers. If he could do it, I say sign him, just to ass the Packer fans even more, but is it realistic to put so much money into the defensive line?
Green Bay would never…EVER…trade him to MN.

Your right we shouldn't go after Kapman
We should go after Rodgers. Start talking to him about how long Brett has in the pocket… Send him emails of how big out O-Line is. Ask him how he’d like to never be pimp slapped into the ground again by Jared Allen… Then tell him the hunting is better over here than in cheese land.
I think it will be a pretty easy sell…

I'm not convinced
Players like Kampman ( high motor + power) don’t just fade out because of a defensive scheme IN A CONTRACT YEAR. Age and injuries do catch up with players. A change of scenery might be all Kampman needs but the idea of bringing in a veteran when a rookie is the future doesn’t make sense to me. Lets get the future QB situation and Phat Pats replacement first.
