Are we due for a let-up against the lowly Lions??

I'm as happy as the next purple-wearing, viking-helmeted, horn-polishing Viking football fan about where our team is current at BUT I'm a bit worried about this post-Bye game against the lowly Lions.  Could this be one of those classic games that the Vikings play a bit too loosely?

Star-divide

I hope not but with everyone automatically assuming it'll be an easy win, you start thinking about the mentality going into this game.  I dearly hope we're not taking the Lions too lightly.  Am I worrying too much here?  Is THIS Vikings team different enough not to choke this (apparently) easy game away?

This FanPost was created by a registered user of The Daily Norseman, and does not necessarily reflect the views of the staff of the site. However, since this is a community, that view is no less important.

If Detroit decides to play a full 4 quarters, then I think the vikes are in for a shootout., but since they haven’t yet, I’m fully confident we should steamroll them.

If we didn’t have Favre I’d say yes but no matter what game we’re playing hes a leader and gives it his all. He knows how to win these games.

In years past, yes

This year, no. In years past, the Vikings were not able, for the most part, to keep one game independent of another. A crippling loss would have a hangover effect, and they would probably drop a game they shouldn’t.

This year, no. They beat teams they should and they’ve won a couple of games they shouldn’t have. In either case, they would have come into the following game too high or too low, and it would’ve affected the next two or three games.

This is a very even-keel team, and they compartmentalize well. They don’t get too high or too low, and will approach the Detroit game without any looking back, or looking forward.

Detroit might keep it close for a quarter, but the Vikes win this game by three scores, and TJ plays most of the fourth quarter.

I have to agree

This team is on a mission. I don’t think we will overlook anyone. Keep pushing & if we have a decent lead play as many people as possible. Get Tjack out there in the wildcat. Let CT share a little more of the load, the guy could start at the #1 spot for a lot of teams in this league.

Good week for a couple of scores by the Vike D

The final score should be something like Vikes 41 – Lions 13.

Agree with Milcardfan=Play the bench

This team comming off of the bye is on a mission led by Veterans. The no mercy rule is in effect. Play hard , keep getting better, rest the wounded for the game, rest the aged after the score roles up.

by lifelongvike on Nov 10, 2009 6:33 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

So...?

‘No mercy rule’ veteran mission or rest the wounded and play the bench?

Well it all depends on how you prep'd

If they didn’t prep well they could still pull a Packers and lose it. Not saying we will but this isn’t like playing West Hardin here.. You still have to prep and respect every NFL football team you play.

God it would suck if we lost this game. Thank God we’re not…

every single time

we play the Lions somebody makes this exact same post.

Just look at it this way....

Even if we do lose, it isn’t as embarrasing as the Packers losing to the Bucs. I think we’re going to win, but if we don’t and we all need something to make us feel better, then I think this would be it.

by Figgs on Nov 10, 2009 9:22 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

I think it would be more embarrasing since we are a better team than the Packers by a margin larger than the lions are better than the bucks.

We are the vikings.......resistance is futile.

Agreed

Also, we are at home and the Packers were away….also we’re coming off a bye week……it would be very embarrassing to lose this one

Then we must think of something else to make us feel better

If we lose. I don’t know what that would be. Maybe that we would still be at least 2 games ahead in the division….. I don’t know.

by Figgs on Nov 10, 2009 12:31 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Remember....

Both Chicago and GB are going to lose this weekend….Still would be 3 games up on ’em LOL….We are not going to lose BTW…..Predict 21 pt victory…say Vikings 35 Lions 14….

Favre gets pulled in the 4th, second string on D as well to finsh…Winfield plays, gets rested at the half on…AD finally breaks 150 again for a game, at least 1 pick six interception, and Harvin breaks another one on a kickoff, 1 TD there too…

Note the 4th QTR is when Detroit gets their 14, prior is a massacre, pure glory for Vikes (they are rested and have a point to prove….they are back and to be reckoned with

I love a game like this! Know we will not get much credit for this W from the pundits, but that is OK…all Ws count toward the HFA we need now (division is wrapped up as far as I am concerned)…Salivating just thinking of the sacks The Mullet will rack up too! AGRHHHHHHHHH!!!!

SKOL!

I am going to get powerball

of both of these. When I do play any type of video lottery I usually choose what R4F stated. Except more 69 and 52

The powerball doesn’t go up to number 44.

I figured you’d pick number 4 as the powerball anyhow.

Awesome because we would be someone who watches tv for something other than football?

Never seen a single episode of Lost, but google officially made me awesome.

It’s only Wednesday and my gut has been churning for a week worrying about this. Historically the Vikings are good after a bye, but man do we historically play down to the level of some bad teams.

3@home

I remember one year when the Vikings were struggling all thru out the season, we lost to the Lions. We had a great season overall, but, like the saying goes: “Any given sunday any team can beat any team” Upsets! – They happen… Let’s just be the one’s upsetting versus being upset.
I think the Lions have too many issues going on over with their Franchise to really be concerned. I know they are struggling in many ares, and they almost had a big W over the Seahawks, but blew a 17 point lead.

We can’t underestimate them, and we also can’t let them get the jump on us like they did before.

I'm pretty sure

That’s what the Pack said about the Buc’s. Albiet we’re better than the Pack but I think Detroit is better than the Bucs as well. From what MM was stating after the game is looked like the Pack was starting to get ready for Dallas the week they were going after Tampa and in the end failed because of it. Nice thing for us is we don’t play anyone really scary for a while so we can take it game by game.
