Even with the redo...

…we still get Raji. I’m not saying I’d rather have him over Percy but if there really was this redo, we’re winners either way. We really need a franchise DT to replace Pat Williams eventually and Raji would be perfect.

We'd lose Loadholt too though

The Vikings were the runaway winners of the first 2 rounds

by ckb on Dec 16, 2009 3:26 AM CST up reply actions

They can have Raji

he hasn’t done jack this season, hardly starts, and the Vikings don’t need a DT, of all places we could use help at (Secondary, QB, RG, LB)

No offense

but I will pass on BJ Raji. Something about him just doesn’t impress me.

by medicineball on Dec 16, 2009 9:16 AM CST up reply actions

Have you watched him at all since we played you guys?

I would suspect no, and if you watch him sometime before this year ends I think he’ll change your impression. He certainly has changed most of us Packers fans views on him.

Nope

I guess I’ll have to check that out. Thanks.

NDominkn Suh

Would be worth a first, a third, and Sage.

by RickyBrune on Dec 15, 2009 11:45 PM CST reply actions

I'm pretty sure

everyone was in awe with Chris Long too. . . I’ll admit that at the time I was willing to trade up quite a ways to get him. Glad we didn’t. I’m guessing Suh will be the same way.

by Frost on Dec 16, 2009 1:31 AM CST up reply actions

No, but wouldn’t that be cool? The way the league is always getting bigger, ya never know.

by Jayrome007 on Dec 16, 2009 3:58 PM CST up reply actions

Technique

Suh doesn’t have all the techniques. I don’t think he’s going to be great in the NFL right away. Maybe never.

I don't know what you guys are on

but if the Vikings trade up for a player in this year’s draft, it better be for a franchise QB. I’m guessing they can get Bradford late in the 1st if they want to risk it. I’d bet that history repeats itself like it did for Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin, injury/off field reputation brings a talented players “draft value” down and the vikings steal him. Either that or we should trade up for McCoy.

by cdubs on Dec 16, 2009 9:00 AM CST reply actions

Bradford will go way before McCoy

If we trade up I would like to see us get a defensive playmaker. Someone like Cody, Suh, Berry, or Mays. Those guys are just examples, maybe a stud CB. I think we can find a QB in round 2. Snead, Pike, McCoy, Mallet, are all second round talent that we could move up and get if the front office thinks they are worth it.

Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.

pre-draft injuries
I’d bet that history repeats itself like it did for Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin, injury/off field reputation brings a talented players "draft value" down and the vikings steal him.

I agree. Why do NFL teams still scurry away from injured players in the draft? I can see their stock taking a small hit, but guys who carry the injury label usually drop at least a good half round. Yet despite this, I can’t seem to think of very many college players who carried the injury-prone label with them into the pros. I mean, I’m sure it happens. But more often than not I can think of plenty of good players who toss the injury label and go on to outperform their draft position.

…and how many players enter the nfl with sparkling injury resistance only to spend a good chunk of their pro career on the bench with injury after injury.

I could be remembering wrong but i’m pretty sure westbrook was never injured as often in college.

We are the vikings.......resistance is futile.

"Injury Resistance"

This must be a character stat measured in NFL: The Role Playing Game .

Spidersilk Gloves: +2 catching
Cleats of Fleetness: +1 speed
Jockstrap of Impunity: +3 injury resistance

Banks Strikes Out on his Viking Pick

He has our re-draft for BJ Raji, which is a nice idea if we didn’t have any other needs on the team… clearly he hasn’t paid much attention to Vikings football this year.

There’s two later draft picks that would have been of greater value to us, than Raji;

CB – Vontae Davis
WR – Hakeem Nicks

Both have been stand-outs this year, and had Harvin not fallen to us, Davis was slated to be on the top of the Vikings radar.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!

Agreed, I would have drafted Davis at the time

Don’t get me wrong, I think Harvin was a better pick with hindsight. I also think Jimmy Kennedy is highly under rated and will be the replacement for P. Williams unless a great DT falls in the draft.
