Update: Bengals WR Chris Henry has died
Guy's, head over to the Cincy Jungle and say a few words. Even though we don't know the full details, sad that this happened.
By MIKE CRANSTON, AP Sports Writer – 8 mins ago
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died, one day after suffering serious injuries upon falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.
Police say Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday. Henry was 26.
Away from the team because of a broken forearm, Henry was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being found on a residential road. Police say a dispute began at a home about a half-mile away, and Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his fiancee was driving away from the residence.
Police said at some point when she was driving, Henry "came out of the back of the vehicle."

RIP Chris Henry
I like many people looked at Chris Henry as an underachiever and a guy who just didn’t get it for the longest time. After watching this season of Hard Knocks, I saw a completely different person. He had changed from a immature boy, to a hard working thoughtful man. It is very sad to lose someone when they had finally turned things around. I hope everyone is able to appreciate all that life has given you. Enjoy your family and friends. I know we all take football alittle to seriously, and sometimes need to remember its just a game. I wish the best of health to everyone. I hope Chris is in a better place.
Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.
As a survivor
of a similar accident I had so hoped he could make it through. You don’t know the person but believe me my wife and I could both idendify. Me, with the odds Chris had. My wife, having to sit there and watch someone you love dying.
This really breaks me up inside as a person who has been there and as a fan, we often identify with those guys we watch each Sunday.
May God open His arms to Chris and grant him eternal peace.

Wow
I heard a little about the pickup thing yesterday, but I had no idea it was THAT serious.
Jesus H Christ, what the heck happened? The last entry on this woman’s myspace page, I read yesterday, was that they were going to pick out wedding rings this week!
This has the potential of being tragic at almost McNair-esque proportions, once the details come out.
Here is the Myspace page — jesus she was posting how “blessed” she was to be with him, the very same day he got thrown out of the back of the truck she was driving while he was trying to get her to stop. Sad …

Not at all.
I wasn’t going to say anything because of the timing and all, but her writing is atrocious. Painful to read.

Naw, just normal
Sad this all happened, not sure what if anything will come out. As for the slang and writing, hell, Ive come across that with women in the late 30’s here. People wonder why Im not married and at present, still single………..VERY SELECTIVE!

i agree
Like our friend, I found it hard to say something in light of the moment. But, good lord woman, is this how you want your children to hear you talk and communicate your feelings with people. I feel like my Dad “In my day children didn’t get away with this or that” Can we blame them if this is what the parents are doing as an example. Be like me telling my kids to have an “F’in good day” when they leave for school." And remember to watch your language."
Please Mrs. CH, don’t write a memorial..

She seems a lot more eloquent elsewhere
From myfoxdc.com (Yeah, I know, I know.)
Tonga agreed that Henry was a changed man. “Just look at him now and forget about the past. We have moved on. He’s a wonderful dad and he’s great with the kids. I couldn’t have asked for better,” she said.

Thanks guys
Really. You don’t know how deep this hit me. I spent some time looking at pictures of me with tubes all over. My wifes hand on my face and all I could think of was those poor kids of Chris’.
There are many days I wonder why I made it.
The dunb thing-I taught Dr. Ed
WEAR THAT SEATBELT!
Make sure the door is secure and lock it. Locking can prevent a door from popping open in a roll over.
Don’t let anyone ride in the backof a pickup for any reason.
Make sure you are alert. I had gotten up from an afternoon nap and was heading to a friends. Being even a little tired can slow your reaction time.
Of course, don’t drink and drive. I had quit a year earlier and thank God I did not cause another to get hurt. Had that happened and I had a speck of alcohol the 5 month hospital stay would have not been my only nightmare.

Dont get me wrong...
I hate to see anyone die…Dont wish bad on anyone…I am just going to state a few facts.. She was trying to get away from Chris in a domestic dispute and he jumps in back of truck to keep her from leaving. Chris has a very long history of trouble, arrests. Even when he was at WVU, he was in trouble there repeatedly and even suspended from team, which is the reason he came out a year early for NFL draft. Was banned for how months from NFL, then even released from Cinn b4 they allowed him to return. He had to show he was on the right path to keep his NFL career alive. Now for speculation…Why was she trying to get away from him. ? Why did he jump in bed of truck ? Was it Chris being Chris again ? Too bad it cost him his life. This may be another sad example how someones temper cost them their life or cost someone elses life. No excuse for domestic violence or violence towards another human. So sorry for his family and kids…
This even gets weirder. Did Chris Henry commit SUICIDE?
.WLWT.com
CINCINNATI — Police have interviewed a man who claimed that Chris Henry threatened to jump from a truck driven by his fiancée before the incident that killed the Bengals wide receiver.
Henry died Thursday morning at 6:36 a.m. from injuries he suffered when he fell from the pickup truck Wednesday afternoon. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have said that Henry and his fiancée Loleini Tonga were arguing when he jumped in the back of her pickup truck and she sped off.
Lee Hardy said he was trimming a tree in his yard when he saw the pickup truck approach. Hardy said the pickup truck was going “very fast” before it came to a quick stop at an intersection. “And that’s when I heard him yelling at her that he wanted to talk,” Hardy said. “‘We need to talk, we need to talk.’” Hardy said the woman inside was saying, “No, I don’t want to talk. Get off the truck. Get out of the truck.” As the truck pulled away, Hardy said he heard Henry say “If you take off, I’m going to jump out and kill myself.”
Hardy said the truck disappeared from view and he went back to work on the tree. He said in the distance he heard the truck stop quickly, but thought nothing of it until police cars began arriving from both directions.
WCNC in Charlotte confirmed that police interviewed Hardy Thursday evening as part of their investigation. Officers told WCNC that they found Hardy’s story credible and consistent with other facts they had gathered during their investigation.
Police released two calls to 911 that were received before and after the incident. The first call came in just after 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, from a woman who said she was following a yellow truck with a man in the bed. “Got a black man on it with no shirt on, got his arm in a cast, he’s beating on the back of this truck window,” the woman told dispatchers. “I don’t know if he’s trying to break in or something, just looks crazy.” The woman followed the pickup for a short distance, but did not follow when it turned onto another road.
Three minutes later, a man called 911 to say that there was a man lying in the road not moving. “He looks dead. There’s no movement,” he said. “He’s laying in the road. I have no idea what happened; we just pulled up here.” When the man was asked if the injured man was awake, he said “He’s definitely unconscious. He’s not awake.”
Police spokeswoman Rosalyn Harrington said homicide detectives have been assigned to the case but had no further information. Harrington would not say if Tonga was present at the scene when police arrived.
Police said Tonga was cooperating with investigators and no charges had been filed against her.
Authorities have not announced the cause of death. Mecklenburg County medical examiner investigator Carol Cormier said they were expecting to receive the body later Thursday.
Henry and Tonga were planning to wed in March. The couple was raising three children
If so
and she knew it why didn’t she stop the truck and lock the doors til he got out. She could have then hit the gas to get away.
Too many “fishy iffy’s” I’m not so sure she shouldnn’t be tried for vehicular manslaughter.
I still feel bad for Chris and knew his past. But from all reports , he was on the right path.
It is still a waste. People can change and do better. Chris Carter did along with many other sport fiigures
