Eric's Thursday Pick (and Your Fantasy Bad Beats)
Colts over JAGUARS: I know the game just started, but I had some errands to run before I could get to a computer. Who knows how long the Colts will keep their starters in tonight, but I have a feeling they play most if not all of the game tonight. You just can't rest your guys for a solid month between meaningful games. Which is unfortunate for me, because I'm facing Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Dallas Clark in one of my fantasy playoffs.
But I guess I should just be thankful I'm in the playoffs in the first place, because I was thisclose to not making it after Monday night's game. I had my week 14 victory all locked up, but I needed another guy to lose to get the 4th and final spot in our league. All I needed was two points from Anquan Boldin for the other guy to lose and I was golden. Hey, Boldin and golden, that rhymed.
As you all know, the Cardinals decided to take a sloppy, post-heavy-drinking-and-Chipotle-style dump on Monday night. When Boldin only had 17 yards at halftime, I was genuinely concerned. But he ended up getting a couple more catches in the second half to put him at 32 yards late in the game, and everything looked fine for me. The only way I'd lose is if he fumbled, because it's -2 points in our league.
Of course, he fumbled on Arizona's final drive of the game. After angrily screaming every expletive I knew, I realized that Boldin got about eight yards before he fumbled. That would give him right around 40 yards, and the fumble would still put him at two points total. Luckily, that statisticians gave Boldin exactly 40 yards for the game, putting me in the playoffs by literally one yard.
Needless to say, the guy that didn't make the playoffs was none too pleased. His dozen or so texts telling me to do things to myself that I'm pretty sure are physically impossible reinforced that fact.
Which brings me to my question to you, oh wise Daily Norseman readers--do you have any fantasy "bad beats" that you'd like to share with the rest of us? I think it would be very therapeutic to share your tortuous defeats with others. So go right ahead and air your grievances in the comment section below. After all, 'tis the season.

i lost by about 3 yards in one of my leagues...
was not happy.
I piss people off on a fairly regular basis. I cherish my right to speak my mind, whether I sound like an uneducated savage or not. I've never been accused of keeping what I think a secret, nor will I ever. Don't like it? I don't care.

The night of the Patriots/Colts Sunday Night game
I was down by about 60 points with Brady and Reggie Wayne left to play. Then they both put up big numbers, and I miraculously won the game by 1.88 points. Then, the next day, there was a stat adjustment on Jones-Drew that took a fumble away from him and gave my opponent another 2 points, and I lost by .12 points. I was not pleased.

I have one for you... not really a bad beat, but a good story
During my fantasy draft I drafted Brandon Marshall. When I was setting up my team for the first game, I noticed a note next to his name. It read “suspended indefinitely”.
Not really knowing anything about the situation, I figured it meant he was out for the season. So I dropped him. My replacement? Mario Manningham.
The guy that picked him up has beat me twice this season and I ended up dropping Mario Manningham a few weeks ago. I didn’t make the playoffs this season after finishing in the top four, three years in a row.

Speaking of bad beats...
I just received a beatdown tonight thanks to those Colts. Holy crap. I’m already down 67-0…I guess there’s always the 3rd place game next week. But hey, at least I finally got a Thursday night pick right!

Last week… I need a win for a shot at the playoffs… I lose a very close battle and guess who’s on my bench??
DeSean Jackson.
If you can't laugh at yourself... Who can you laugh at?
The Packers, that’s who.

Ouch.
Another guy in my league needed a win to make the playoffs last week. He scored 95 points, but went against the following receivers:
- DeSean Jackson
- Brandon Marshall
- Andre Johnson
It wasn’t close. Surprisingly, the guy with those three receivers didn’t make the playoffs either!

FANTASY FOOTBALL IS CRAZY LIKE THAT! I KNOCKED OUT THE GUY FROM PLAYOFFS
HE had Brees, Dallas Clark, Ray Rice, Ryan Grant, and Robert Meacham and I knocked him out before it started. He ended up total overall points leader and no playoff berth. Go PERCY!

Sorry little more info!
It was Thanksgiving weekend and Aaron Rodgers and Donald Driver got me off to a 160-80 point lead. He had Meacham and Brees left and I had Moss(being the big Moss fan that I am). He came back and if it wasn’t for the last 6-8 straight run plays he would have beat me with a couple completions from Brees or the TD that sailed over Henderson’s head in the 4th Qrtr. Anyhoot I won 199-197.5. The highest point total on the year in our league in a given week. Now Im homing in on the championship game while he is lame!
