Percy Harvin NOT the ROY!?

According to Adam Schein writer at Fox Sports Percy Harvin is not the Offensive ROY, Michael Oher is. Now I guess he brings up a valid point as to saying that it's "Offensive" Rookie of the Year and not just "Rookie of the Year" but who freaking cares.

Percy's done more for this offense than some people really realize. He's our number one 3rd Down Option, and he's so dangerous in the open field.

Now obviously being Percy's biggest fan I do not agree with those statements.

Percy Harvin is the ROY bar None.

And the award for

douche bag of the year goes to…wait for it…wait for it. Adam "Doesn’t know “%&*# from Shineola” Shein.

maybe Percy should make a movie...

that way he could be considered the OROY no matter what he does wrong.

poor guy, I have migraines occasionally and they are one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced.. hope he pulls out of it and dominates Sunday…

Oh yeah I also heard the other day he leads the NFC in all purpose yards as of last week I think?

Adrian Peterson, enough said.

Schein also...

projected the Vikings to finish third in the NFC north. Spouting off idiotic statements is nothing new to him, but If Percy misses more games there may be validity to his thoughts this time because Oher has been solid.

All in all he’s a TV/radio puppet who will say whatever makes him likeable to the largest or most popular demographic and his football opinions should not be taken seriously. There’s solid lineman who can do what Michael Oher has done in most drafts. Percy is a rare one.

Um, like even a fella by the name of Loadholt? I mean, what’s the difference really between Loadholt and Oher besides the fact that our offense is actually better than theirs. OL winning OROY is a pretty lame pick.

by Jayrome007 on Dec 19, 2009 8:13 PM CST up reply actions

Oher will get a couple votes. Like how Joe Thomas got some votes for OROY back when we drafted Peterson. It didn’t stop other people from realizing that Peterson was clearly the best candidate though.

If Harvin misses any more time

I can see an argument for Oher (look, I just saw The Blind Side last night, so shoot me. It’s a good story, and I’m rooting for Oher). Durability is a factor that goes into determining who the ROY is. But if Percy plays out the rest of the year and keeps putting up numbers like he has, it’s Harvin, hands down.

And right now, it’s Harvin.

"We're used to Favre-a-palooza now. We're engulfed in Favre-a-palooza. It's not even Favre-a-palooza anymore. He's family now."

The Blind Side

Is a fantastic movie. What a great story. For that reason alone I am rooting for him if, Percy cannot play out the season. Other wise Percy should be ROY without any problem.

If Sandra Bullock does not get an Oscar for her performance I will be amazed, she stole the show.
deffinately deserves it

I get what you're saying.

I read the book a while back and was rooting for him too— until he pulled that crap badmouthing Jared Allen.

He’s a first round tackle doing what a first round tackle should do— play well from the get-go. Percy is playing a much harder position for a rookie at a higher level than his peers versus Oher amongst his peers.

by drew10 on Dec 19, 2009 7:08 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Who?

That’s what people ask you when you mention something Adam Schein “predicts”. Enough said.

by MinnesotaRage on Dec 19, 2009 4:33 PM CST reply actions

Maybe they should make a movie about Percy...

Lets make this a legit contest.

P.S. Blindside was a very well made movie.

...add #4 to the mix and see what you get... Championship.

by Macdaddy4508 on Dec 19, 2009 7:01 PM CST reply actions

They have made a movie about Percy. Just watch any Cheech and Chong film.

Haha, just kidding. Couldn’t resist.

by Frost on Dec 20, 2009 12:26 PM CST up reply actions

If they did a movie called “Front Side” about Phil Loadholt i’m sure someone would say that he should be OPOY because he’s given up so few sacks as a rookie tackle too.

I’m with the others who said that he’s only done what a 1st round tackle should have done, not false start, no hold and give up only a couple of sacks or less in the entire year. Playing WR as a rookie and having an impact on both offense and ST is a much greater feat. Percy all the way. Not even close. Schein is a Dipschein.

We are the vikings.......resistance is futile.

by Hoss-Drone on Dec 19, 2009 8:42 PM CST reply actions

Exactly!

The storie goes is that it takes WR 2 years in the NFL to become good. Well it took Percy Training Camp and he has been great Since!

Why didn’t he win ROY? He is a great offensive tackle.

Are you serious?

Because if you are then it’s because we got that guy in the backfield we in Minnesota like to call “PURPLE JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I thought it was pretty obvious sarcasm. I don’t care about the rookie of the year and I doubt the team does. Besides, Oher has been good and deserving.

Oher

He’s a great story. But how many game changing kick returns and 3rd down conversions has he had?

If you can get your hands on the ball you should be able to catch it no matter what!

Yes Harvin is a better reality...

Hope he has a breakout game tonight…..

Heck if ALL the players I want this to happen to come through, will be a massecre (figurative)!!!!!

Allen, Winfield, Williams Wall, Loadholt, Favre, AD, Taylor, Rice, Shiancoe, et.al.

Is it kickoff time yet? Oooof…..

SKOL!

Take a TD from AD and take the pick from Winfield

by Percy Harvin My Fav! on Dec 20, 2009 2:22 PM CST up reply actions

Yes he is

I mean, come on guys. If we had the option to take Oher or Loadholt in the second round by some miracle last draft, who would you all rather take? Loadholt, our awesome run-blocking RT who has some troubles with speed rushers, or Oher, the Raven’s awesome RT who’s good in pass or run blocking and is also filling in admirably as a LT? Personally, I’d take Oher.

by Frost on Dec 20, 2009 12:31 PM CST up reply actions

The difference is Oher is a 1st round pick and Loadholt is a 2nd

and you really can’t distinguish the difference between them if they were on the same team wearing the same jersey getting rotated in in out!

And we're talking towards him getting ROY over Percy!

If you’re not even dominating your position between all the rookies than how can you beat out somebody who is? Percy is the guy man!
