Roll Call Delayed and A Reminder - EVERYONE READ
The site that does the Roll Call stuff appears to be on the fritz and not working properly. If and when it gets to working again, I'll do the Cincy game and tonight's game.
The main thing I want to address here is the swearing thing in the game threads. I made this rule a few weeks ago, and most people don't seem to have a whole lot of problem with it. However, some people seem to not have the ability to control themselves and keep the swearing out of the game threads. So, even though I didn't want to do this, I've really been left with no choice. And I'm even going to put it in bold and all caps so that it's made perfectly clear.
FROM THIS DAY FORWARD, IF YOU ARE SWEARING IN THE GAME THREAD, YOU WILL BE BANNED FOR THE DURATION OF THE FOOTBALL GAME. NO EXCEPTIONS.
There will be a "no strike" policy involved with this. I don't care if you're a newbie, or if you've been here since Day 1. If you have a problem with this policy, please use the door to your left.
I'm not asking again. I'll simply be dropping the Ban Hammer from here on out.
This FanPost was created by a registered user of The Daily Norseman, and does not necessarily reflect the views of the staff of the site. However, since this is a community, that view is no less important.

Fair enough
But if we play like that again the rest of this season, I’m just logging off and swearing out loud to myself. I had to do it at the end of this game.

I actually suprised myself
Maybe because it was coming home from a date earlier :), but at the end of overtime, no cussing, just staring and alot of stewing inside. My dog actually came up on the couch, layed down and put his head on my lap looking up at me. Talk about throwing any anger right out the window there.

Hey Gonz,
Which words are banned? Is it like a 7 words you can’t say on television bit?
Lower Deck Tickets on 50 yard line behind Vikings bench = $119.00
Parking by the Metrodome = $25.00
Souvenir Soda = $6.50
Being there for 296 = Priceless
Ok thanks for the Roll Call update
and yea there really isnt a point in arguing your rule because its YOUR rule. You’re headman in charge so lets all abide by that.

Clarification
Damn = okay (although putting “God” in front of it is a little excessive)
Hell = okay
Anything stronger than that? (S-word, F-word, etc.) = No go
I have no problem with abbreviations (WTF, etc). . .just don’t be dropping bombs in here all the time.
I know that anywhere between 90 and 95% of us here are adults. . .but there are a few younger folks that read the game threads that I’m aware of.
To borrow a phrase from Sam Wyche. . .you don’t cheer for Chicago. You cheer for Minnesota.

"The dam beavers damned the creek."
I hope that clarifies. :)

not if they were using logs to stop the flow of water...
then it would be…
“The damned beavers dammed the creek”
Yours is: The beavers,on the dam, called for the damnation of their creek.
dammit!

Agreed
I will do my part to adhere to your policy. Thanks for making this the best Vikings site on the net!
Is this the movie spoof?
Take all the Dam pictures you want. But don’t say a D—- thing bad when the Vikings screw up.
That’s cool Gonz. I am all for self control. We also have teen members and as adults should show self control and a good example. None of us are perfect but it is easy to stop a word in a blog. I can’t stop it at home during a game sometimes. Everyone in bed and I let out something they all hear. That makes me fell bad enough so I don’t need to write it.
I am all for proper edicate and that is the best part of DN. We don’t go overboard to bash or insult the sensitivities of others with a cursing barrage. It’s what keeps us above the others.

Is there some sort of filter you can use on here Gonzo?

sorry gonz.
i was a little upset last night, though i have been trying a lot harder to not swear so much. trying in general at home too…. just took the swear jar to the bank and there was only $49 in three weeks…. maybe not doing so good.
I piss people off on a fairly regular basis. I cherish my right to speak my mind, whether I sound like an uneducated savage or not. I've never been accused of keeping what I think a secret, nor will I ever. Don't like it? I don't care.
I do not take back anything i've written in these hallowed halls
For that would be taken back my word and my oath with which I make and cast with every word I speak or type. No, to draw back my prose would be to undo the very fabric of my, and I may even say, the universes reality.
However, I shall in the future attempt to abstain from casual carnality. I can not promise this and understand that if I do break this covenant that you are inacting I shall fall from your grace and sit upon a lowly row amidst unclean company.
Plaster
it at the top of the site, the quartely thread. If this is zero tolerance, there is no excuse.
Good call
Just have some sort of template to let people know about the policy at the top of every game thread. I know the policy quite well, but I might still need the reminder during games like we had Sunday :)

cryhavoc...
needs to come up with a ‘No Profanity’ image (small) to lay on the site when things don’t go our way.
maybe he can use Cutler’s image… he’s prone to profanity-laden referee rants, isn’t he?
you know… so we can laugh and make fun of cutler instead of profaning our blogsite…
I BELIEVE...
