Just heard on ESPN
That there have been other riffs between Chilly and Favre,, Couple games Chilly has called run plays and Favre has audibled out to pass play, which made chilly mad and tried to take Favre out, which Favre wld not come out. I wish Favre wld audible more or Chillys conservative calls. Sounds like the same stubborn Chilly..This is play I wanted called...Sort of like, this is the quarterback Im going with (TJack last yr)(and yr b4 and yr b4) No matter what, it is going to work, cause Im the coach. Last nite was unbelieveable..Too many conservative plays called, especially 1st half.. Even announcers sd Minn needed to go in and put on longer cleats..Same thing that happened in AZ.. Carolina could not run ball in 1st half and we should have put them away...Never adjusted to Peppers dominance, had C Taylor help a few times.. What are we paying Kleinsasser for ? To catch 2 passes like he did last nite ?/.. He is best blocking TE in game and we did not use him to help out with Peppers.. We will never win the big game while we have Chilly as coach. I hope I am wrong, but afraid I am not. I will admit bad tackling and dropped passes are not coaches fault.. But not making correct adjustments to flow of game and being way too conservative on the road (as usual) is Chillys fault

has learned that Chilly is an idiot when it comes to play calling. Maybe that is why TO told him to stay away. Good players respect and know when a coach has a handle on what is going on.
Have we ever seen Chilly take a good game plan that works and follow up and build on it? No!
Bears game, we were clicking on all cillindrs. Cincy game. We put it back together . Then took it apart.
We have a coaching situation similar to middle schoolers managing a Boeing plant.. They can let the experts do their job but build it themselves. “Jeez. It crashed” Lets ask the guys that know how to fix it.. then we’ll try again"
A few of our coaches are like that. They’ll never be able to fix a problem on their own and ultimately crash the plane.
Thye even have the black boxes from AZ, Pitt and now Carolina. Think anyone will look at them and see what went wrong?

Favre had an up and down game
Favre made a lot of great plays again. Too bad those three passes were dropped or we would have had a chance, as we were in the game at the time.
That said, the INT he threw was horrible. Horrible pass, Brett. Go get ’em next time, guys.
One more thing
The two AD drops and the Shiancoe drop were RIGHT ON THE MONEY. No excuses guys. Soft, catchable balls delivered on time, perfectly thrown.
No excuses. Just go play well next time.

So was the pass to Chester Taylor
But notice how many of those passes were very short.
Favre rarely had the time to air it out, or even to expect a meager 20 yard gain.

INT
I’m pretty sure his hand was hit on the INT.

It was,
and the game was over at that point too, in any real world sense.

We need to run the ball more
Favre audible-ing out of runs is great but you need 25 to 30 attempts per game. That’s the identity here. Favre needs to let the run game happen.
Yes
and can we put Taylor and AD in the same backfield at the same time, Let Chester run it 10 times and AD 15-20?
That would be too smart I guess. Run the "I’ and split. Toss in a wildcat here and there. Then let BF and crew open things up.
You have got to mix things up at this level-we don’t. I was not a high level coach bu tfor heavens sake, I can figure out a Vikings game plan 3 out of 4 games.
If I were an NFL coordinator it would be difficult looking at both these guys in the backfield and wonder what is coming next..

Instead of smiling on the way back to the huddle
AD should have dropped down and did his pushups. Toine and Rice would’ve…
I have a feeling....
Favre wants to take shots down the field and Chilly won’t let that happen.
With this subpar O-Line, we will never be able to establish the running game, unless we can be a threat in the passing game.
Chilly needs to get his crap together…
Does Chilly really call the plays?
I don’t see him with the laminated (and colorful) playsheet covering his kisser between plays…
I BELIEVE...

Bevell calls the plays
Childress is on the headset, listening to all the playcalls. He has veto authority and ultimate decisionmaking power over what play is called. He has the card so he can make his own play calls from time to time, as he regularly does. We can often see him talking behind the card as we watch on TV.

right.
I thought Bevell did most of the ‘heavy lifting’ of play calling.
Not sure why we’d bash Chilly for all of it – but then again…
I BELIEVE...

wow
it’s the olines fault, the wr’s fault, chilly’s fault, bevells fault. that’s a lot of fault. thank goodness it’s not favres fault!

I also don't think it was AD's
Or really the WR’s they were open and I think Favre was rushing the pass a bit so they may not have had the timing down pat. I would say that game came down to 60% O Line, 30% coaching and 10% the rest of the team. So yeah everyone had a down game but the O Line is like someones spine, if your spine isn’t working the rest of you isn’t either. Hopefully after this Chilly and Co. will realize this and start going with plays that scheme away from our weakness. If not it will be 60% coaching next time.
i just think it’s funny that i’ve seen blame going everywhere except favre.
the weather, field conditions, time slot, peterson, bevell, chilly, mckinnie, loadholt, sullivan, herrera, the receivers, the defense, the time slot, the teams shoes, etc…
but not favre.
who was the bus driver last night? let’s see what he has to say for himself!

Favre was rather pedestrian
But I think the O-Line was terrible. No-one played great, but when the line doesn’t perform very little is going to go well. I think most of those guys are playing with injuries and hope they are resting/recovering for Chicago.
You can't have it both ways....
When the team wins, it’s a team victory.
When the team loses, we look for the goat.
Human nature, maybe, but Favre’s just one piece of the team. A very important piece, and a lot of responsibility falls on his shoulders, but like AP, Favre can only do so much all by himself and you know it.
That being said, Favre’s game was mediocre, and we’ve already covered a lot of the reasons why that was.
I personally think that by the 3rd Q, when Chilly wanted to put T-Jack in, it was the right decision and Chilly’s the goat for not sticking to his guns. Not because Favre was screwing up so badly he needed to be replaced, but because Carolina had obviously game-planned very well for Favre and the O-line as a set piece and when that happens, you need to change the equation. T-Jack’s mobility would have changed it.

Card and the Panther game
these two game is on the coaching staff. As a coach you have to keep your team on the edge. When you are on top you can get com placement. tackling was horrid. There isn’t any place for that.
When i was coaching basketball, soccer team. We were undefeated. Every days i tell them there are not that good. They were so pissed of. They went out and whipped all their opponent just to prove a point. In the end we won the city championship. The point is this does not play with and edge every game. They is a saying. It is hard to stay on top than it is to get there.
vikes need a coach like dungy which we need back
i am tired of listening to announcers during games or at half or on the news who only talk about favre.farvre is one of the best but the vikings had just as good of a team last year and other years and no coaching to take advantage of their talent. why do we run the same off tackle play over and over to adrian that gains two yards. adrian can catch passes out of the backfield why dont we throw the ball to him. why do we run the off tackle play every first down and second down and then pass on third down. i have a minor degree in coaching and by no means know as much as i would like to about coaching but it seems to me that if you are playing the vikings you dont need too. when you tackle someone i was taught to wrap them up with your arms not hit them with your helmet and pads and expect them to fall down or for help from teammates. poor tackling poor play calling, poor motivation and poor discipline just like every year. not poor players and not farve or peterson or harvick or berrian or allen but from the office personell. i think a high school coach could win the super bowl with this team.
