Vikings/Cardinals Fourth Quarter Thread
Things have continued to get uglier for the Vikings, as the Cardinals have extended their lead to 17 with a couple of Neil Rackers field goals.
Brett Favre has never overcome a deficit of more than 14 points. . .but, hey, there's always a first time. . .right?
Right!?
Cardinals 27, Vikings 10 as we go to the final quarter of play.

awww man...
after what happened to E.J, time to pack it in. pre season mode..
this team is amzing
at breaking fans hearts
just when u sense the team is going places
they manange to stink up the join ton national tv, the famed qb decides to play like the ol’e gunslinger, we lose numerous lineman, and our middle linebacker and core of the defense ends his season
so while ill always be avikings fan, they always have a knack of taking your heart and smashing it into little tiny bits
hello
no mlb for hte year
how many teams recover from that
and one game is all it takes
it is just so frustrating that bad things always happen to the vikes just when things look good
After the 98 season
I realized that they will only ever be good enough to break my heart

askign that the refs would overturn it becuase the receiver didnt have two feet inbounds
but they ruled the force out

Maybe we just aren't that good
After playing Cleveland, St. Louis, Detroit twice, et al.
The only good team we beat was Baltimore. The Packers are decent I guess, but we may not be as good as the record says.
This could be a positive though…this may be the wakeup call we needed.

but they don’t start telling people to leave over trifling matters either.

the pups were a 30 win club during the preseason. But, I may have caught the wrong few days since I don’t spend so much time reading over there. I do agree that Vikes fans are the most emotional fans in MN, though
Oh, that I would agree with.
But overall, my original post was also intended to express that the discourse can be civil and analytical. Here it is too, though much more mixed and sometimes downright boorish..
I swear I saw it
since every player appeared to be an upgrade from last year and had a higher wpa (even though we’re projecting a college kid) and yadda, yadda

which I consider optimistic. Love has made them appear to be an NBA team, though, so I hope I’m wrong

the only thing to calm these wounds is a fudge packer beatdown
but as our luck that probbly will not happen
I still can’t believe Chilly punted mid 4th quarter or so. It probably wouldn’t have made a difference. But I’m reminded of last year’s loss at Tennessee. Similar situation, where Chilly punted and essentially ended the game. He said he’d do it differently the next time after that game. So…?
Hats off to Arizona, though. They gave the Vikes a thorough beatdown.

yes
because they always choke when a game is moved to prime time. i dont want this team to leave, but if they keep breaking fans hearts like this then i dont know.
what ever iam going to listen to fanline.
Vikings vs Packers
I’m pretty sure we throttled them earlier this year in a prime time MNF game…
Lower Deck Tickets on 50 yard line behind Vikings bench = $119.00
Parking by the Metrodome = $25.00
Souvenir Soda = $6.50
Being there for 296 = Priceless
things have changed
plus i wouldnt consider a 30-23 victory when they almost came back us a throttling
Too early to say that from this team.....
Look back on other teams that have won….did they lost a few games? Yes…..
Did they fall apart? NO….they fixed the problem areas….what the Vikes need to do…..
This is life….Rome was not built in a day….and when it is built in a day (figuratively) look what happens….
Dubai is a good example…..all so fast, comes tumbling down (again figuratively)….Better to have a solid foundation (Vikes have this)….and work on issues as they arise….(Vikes can do)….

Really take a good look at this vikings history
nothing signals to me say that this year will be different. I love this team to death, but every time i put faith in them it all comes crumbling down
almost a given
that the road will go through NO now. Lets finish strong and get the 2 seed.
JT
The Vikes will finish strong
but the thought of Brees against the Vikes secondary worries me if they Four Norseman don’t bring some pressure.
Thanks everyone...
I was seriously on the verge of an aneurysm at the end of this one….
But most of everyone on here is being very positive and that’s what we need….I can’t stand people being negative after a loss.
Let’s get ready for a Packers’ loss tomorrow night!
SKOL.
Let’s hope there’s not something on film on what Cards O-line did. Favre had a bad game, no doubt, but turnovers ARE rather flukey, and he wasn’t going to finish the year with just 3 picks. I thought he’d regress a little. Let’s just hope the December thing isn’t a shoe ready to drop. If it is, nothing you can do, I guess.
But the Minnesota D-line was completely neutralized. That’s the concern in this one. So like I said, let’s hope there’s nothing schematic there.
Warner was getting the ball out of his hand pretty quick tonight
From the only TRUE North division
by thewild_viking_twins on Dec 6, 2009 10:55 PM CST up reply actions
Well, they weren’t doing a 3-step-drop-and-throw-to-the-flat, exactly. The Cards offense really got clicking in the second quarter, showing how precise timing can beat good coverage. But that’s downfield stuff, too. Takes time.
A lot of people are questioning Allen, but I thought this was easily the worst game Kevin Williams has played in a LONG time. I’m a big Williams fan and think he’s their best defensive player. But tonight he just didn’t have it. There were several downfield strikes by Warner where the edge rushers were getting up the field a bit, but there was zero push in the pocket. So, ride Allen and Edwards out of the play, and let Warner sit in the pocket.
I don’t mean this to sound like whining, because I thought the Cardinals played incredible and absolutely deserve credit. They earned this win big time. But I wonder how much effect the field had. Kevin Williams relies a lot on his explosiveness, and he just seemed to struggle with his footing, slipping and even getting knocked to the ground by one-on-one blocking, which never happens.
Let's hope they figure it out
Accuse me of being a whiner, but the coaching staff is what worries me. Great as Bud the God was, he took 4 terrific teams to the Super Bowl and was quite effectively out coached each time. I mean, the Vikes were never even close. Chili has terrific talent too. But at this level, the margin of error is too small. Can’t win on simply talent alone, especially in football. But I would love to be wrong.
Holy crap
By reading this thread, I’d think you were 2-10!
You have a VERY good team who had a bad day against a good team.
You have pretty much locked up the #2 seed so get off the ledge!
SKOL Vikings!!!

Favre's throwing too much
How many passes has Favre thrown over the last two games? A hundred or more? At the beginning of the season, Childress was all about limiting Favre’s throws, conserving his arm. That went out the window when the passing game started clicking. An air attack is important, but Favre is still 40. Even if he’s not throwing very far down the field most of the time, repeating the motion takes a toll. Tossing a lot of passes catches up with you. Favre looks 100 percent better than he did last year. The operation was obviously a great success. But I’d get back to conserving the arm. Odds are, they won’t make it through the playoffs if the passing game is 80-90 percent of the offense. Most teams don’t. It also ups the chances of jamming a finger, cracking a hand on your own lineman’s helmet— not to mention suffering the effects of a brutal sack from the blindside. Maybe this was just a bad game and Favre will shrug it off. I hope he does. I’m pulling for the guy. But Childress could help him out a little, too. The Packers didn’t go all the way when Favre was chucking the ball all over the place. And the VIkes probably won’t either if the game plan doesn’t change.
