Behind Enemy Lines

My girlfriend and I are heading up to Minneapolis to watch our Bengals this weekend for the game. We love going to away games but its getting difficult to find good stuff to do online. Don't really know to much about the city, she obviously wants to go to the mall. I am more concerned with finding a place for before the game to get some food and drinks on the way. Thanks in advance.

Any suggestions?

Skip the Mall!

If you have been to a mall before do NOT go to the MEGA mall. It is a mall, that’s all I have to say about that.

As for pregame you can go to Sneaky Pete’s and ride the tram right to the Dome. They have a 6$ all you can drink until the game is over and food is pretty good. It will be pretty full though so you are going to have to get there a bit early I would say around 930ish.

+1 on the Sneaky Pete's

They also have an amazing make-your-own Bloody Mary bar, and like JATUT said, you can hop right on the (crowded) light rail straight to the Dome.

don't skip the mall

yeah, it’s “a mall”, but your girlfriend will enjoy the grand scene of it all, and you’ll be a great boyfriend for dealing with it (especially if you don’t whine and complain, haha). Where are you staying? If you’re staying in downtown Minneapolis by the dome, then the light rail will take you directly to the mall and back very easily. And there are a number of great places that offer drink and brunch specials before the game on Sunday. I go to a place called Corner Bar on S. Washington, that is about an 8-10 minute walk from the dome (and right next door to my hotel).

If you are staying at the Holliday Inn

on Washington..there are about 5-6 bars literally outside the hotel lobby. I really enjoy Sgt. Prestons. Really great tap beer selection and decent americana food. Plus, free shuttle to dome outside so you can avoid bad weather.

Also

Super easy to get to the MoA. Just take 77 North from Mall and boom…right off exit 17C. Trust me. Took the wifey to the MoA Saturday for ’’her’’ day…then she loved the game because of the credits I racked up the previous day/night. Have fun! And you’ll find Vikes’ fans to be coordial and inviting giving you don’t act like a total ass.

Yeah, good to include something for wifey....

MOA is a great place to let her cater to her shopping drive….

Just leave enough in the wallet for a pint or two before the game!

Agree the Vikes/MN fans are cordial….have had a good time every trip…

Course I AM a Vikes fan LOL….

Enjoy!

I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the advice. I hope the rest of the fans are as nice as these because I am thinking that our orange will stand out quite a bit in a sea of purple. In Ohio and Kentucky you cant serve alcohol until 1 on Sundays, I am guessing that is not the case in Minnesota. I will have check out some of these places. Thanks.

ps. you may want to stack the box, I am thinking we will run the ball like 60 times.

After

What happened to our secondary against the Cardinals, that actually might be a welcome reprieve.

I think so

While I haven’t been back home to Minny in years (had to cancel planned trip to the Monday Night game against the Pack due to family), we are good people. Yeah, you may run across the occasional pinhead, but we all have them. To my fellow Vikings, I will attest to the niceness of people in the Ohio/Cincy area. My sister lives in that area and I did go see the Twins play the Reds at old Cinergy/Riverfront all decked out in Twins gear. All “grief” was in fun as we all laughed and there were a few handshakes and a bunch niceties abound. Hope our folks repay that hospitality Sunday! I just visited Great American this past summer and that left me impatiently awaiting my first trip to Target Field! Hope you have fun in Minny and enjoy the game, well, the Vikings victory! lol

Great

idea Grime. Then the same question isn’t asked and answered ad nauseum. Good call.

if there were such a thing

then yeah. Until then, rec it, but it will only stay atop the rec’d fanposts for two weeks or until it gets bumped.
