Adam this Sunday when I score I'm taking that loud horn from the Viking mascot and using it<--is that a fine to?

Hot off the press from Ochocinco. Took him this long to start yapping?

I’m betting Winfield comes back JUST to put that kid in his place…

He needs to do his research.

Horn’s not with Ragnar, buddy.

Cinco is a Dinko

Yah. :ike you and a bunch of inner city kids could beat Phleps and and other olympians in the pool. Most high school swimmers from Minn would kidk your butt.
This guy need to shut up. Maybe he should Tweet a Cage match challenge to Jared Allen. Would love to see his shining tooth grinning when Jared rams his head through the cage. Ya know. Eyes rolling and little stars circling his head. I hate that little jerk. Let him catch one and do a stunt in the endzone and them have Pat and Kevin just flatten his ass. The penalty would be worth it.

Numero 85 is a Twit

who should be concerned instead about where Ragnar might place that long Viking horn after every Viking’s score.

by Elgar on Dec 8, 2009 8:14 PM CST reply actions

A twit, yes.

But the NFL needs guys like him. He likes, nay, starves for the attention. Let him have it while we quietly work hard to ensure he doesn’t get a chance to touch the football.

Then I will have a Red Bull and cranberry juice just to celebrate.

by Bjorno on Dec 8, 2009 8:42 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Yeah I'm with you

Sometimes the “No Fun League” forgets that its supposed to be a game, a spectacle, an escape, not a serious “deathmatch,” not a war. 85 is there to remind us of that — in his admittedly very, very corny way.

by puddnhead on Dec 8, 2009 9:04 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah...

I actually don’t mind Ochocinco. He’s gotten a little over-the-top lately, but the past years he was actually kinda funny, ‘cause he’s not real malicious. He’s just after the attention.

+1

He’s also on my fantasy team :)

But really, the Bengals are more of a run team. So I doubt Chadswick will get the ball too much.

by Frost on Dec 8, 2009 10:10 PM CST up reply actions

Agree

He works his tail off too with last year being the only one of many good seasons that could lead to someone questioning his work ethic. If he were a Viking most of us would like him.

Think of his antics as a weekly donation to a charity and its an easier pill to swallow.

by drew10 on Dec 8, 2009 11:01 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Hey in the beginning of the year he bought the excess tickets for the first game so it wouldn't be blacked out

Got to like a player who will do that. Plus he is pretty damn funny. Way better than TO ever was.

by Grime on Dec 9, 2009 7:44 AM CST up reply actions

Dude, really?

Guys, come on, Chad Ochocinco is a guy who is mischevous but in good spirit. He makes the game fun and is a very positive guy. He talks trash to make the game FUN. Obviously the things he says or the “predictions” he makes are ridiculous, but that’s why he does it, to get people pumped for the game. He’s an entertainer.

I hope Winfield comes back and shuts him down too, but I think it’s overkill to speak so harshly toward a guy like Ochocinco.

Did anyone watch Hardknocks this season??

by cdubs on Dec 9, 2009 9:30 AM CST up reply actions

I like Chad

When he is playing well and having fun I think he is one of the biggest bright spots in the No Fun League as a whole.

He had a few ugly seasons where he didn’t look to be a good teammate though. He seems similar to Randy Moss that way. On a good team he’s great, on a bad team he’s terrible.

by ckb on Dec 9, 2009 2:15 PM CST up reply actions

The only horn

he has is about 3 inches long. The NFL needs him. Didn’t hear anyone crying out for his antics when he sucked last year,

by CitrusFLViking on Dec 8, 2009 8:54 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, he plans to use it all right,

But I don’t want to see where he plans to stick it.

Actually

I kind of like the guy. The NFL needs more players like him. And, a big thank you to him for giving us bulletin board material. If this doesn’t fire us up, along with the beating from the Cardinals, then nothing will.

TD celebrations

We can really blame the lower levels of organized football for wanting to deemphasize TD celebrations, and that isn’t such a bad thing. The NFL and its affiliated broadcasting companies also feel that they need every second for advertising rather than celebrations. Expect nothing to change anytime soon for those reasons alone.

by KC Viking on Dec 8, 2009 10:01 PM CST reply actions

I love Chad...

He makes football enjoyable. I’ll give him a TD as long as we score 2-3 in return. If you think he’s funny against other teams…then he should be funny against us…he doesn’t hate us…he’s just a literal “shock jock.”

I’d like to see Winfield back to hit him hard either way though!

by urluckyday on Dec 8, 2009 10:55 PM CST reply actions

It would be funny if he were able to get a hold of that horn haha. I know some people don’t like him very much, but I think he’s alright. He’s a really hard worker and the stunts he pulls are funny and good for the NFL.

They need to blow the Gjallerhorn twice, just for him :)

I’ve see comments like this before from other team players and fans; they HATE hearing the Vikings Gjallerhorn, it really bugs them. To me, that just reaffirms how effective it is :))

Ah, ah,

From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.

by DCPurple on Dec 9, 2009 6:44 AM CST reply actions

oh man

I hear SOOOOO much crap from my friends about how much they absolutely loathe the horn. Which obviously, makes me love it so much more.

They’ll say, “Well, they play the sounds over and over and over again all game!!! It’s so annoying!”

I always reply with, “They only play it after the Vikings get a first down. Maybe if your team stopped the Vikings offense every once in a while, you won’t have to hear it so much.”

That usually shuts them up.

Eight Five

There is a very fine line between amusing and obnoxious, and few egocentric athletes always walk it correctly: Shaq, Joe Namath, and most of all Muhammad Ali are some sports celebrities who did so succesfully.

Chad Ocho Cinco always manages to stay on the amusing side of the line as well. Even though some of the things he says are outrageous if you read them on paper (or Twitter), I somehow cannot help but laugh at old number Eight Five. He is a great showman who comes up with great smack talk that is, to me at least, not in the least bit offensive or truly mean-spirited.

by Midnight Rambler on Dec 9, 2009 6:48 AM CST reply actions

And on the other side of that "line"

was Dennis Rodman and Warren Sapp and Deion Sanders

by puddnhead on Dec 9, 2009 4:45 PM CST up reply actions

They should keep the horn next to the end zone...

just for him.

While I wouldn’t like to see the Bengals scoring on us, that would be pretty funny to see him do that.

I loved watching him do the leap in GB after the TD.

by EasternVike on Dec 9, 2009 9:21 AM CST reply actions

Agreed

Honestly I wouldn’t take it as an insult if he did something with the horn. If chad wants to toot the horn after a TD, then I say let him. This Vikings Defense is furious over last week and are running high emotionally over EJ’s injury. They’ll want retribution and the Bengal Offense is going to suffer. Let’s just hope Chad never reaches the endzone.

by cdubs on Dec 9, 2009 9:33 AM CST up reply actions

I like Ochocinco

and his silly antics and comments. If you really look at him, he’s not a troublemaker, does a lot for charity, and actually has a very kind heart.

Let him talk his talk. That’s what he does. Anyone getting genuinely angry or offended over it is pretty silly IMO.

by TheViking83 on Dec 9, 2009 10:19 AM CST reply actions

It wouldn't be the first time his talk was too much

Remember when he sent Pepto-Bismol to the Browns’ secondary with a note that they would get sick from not being able to cover him? And the Browns almost shut him out of the game completely?

I agree that 85 has been less obnoxious, more charitable, and not a team obliterator; still, I’ll never love TD celebrations.

by KC Viking on Dec 9, 2009 11:24 AM CST reply actions

Conference call with Chad.

From Access Vikings. He comes off as a pretty funny and sincere guy. I’ve always liked him. High praise for Antoine:

Ochocinco said repeatedly, using some words not fit for this blog, that he is upset that Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield likely won’t play again. “He’s about the most complete corner you can find in the NFL,” Ochocinco said. “You have great corners but you never find one as complete that can cover and tackle at the same time. I have so much respect for that dude. I really was looking forward to going against him once I saw the schedule during the season.”

But I bet Cutler would like to have him on the team even more..

Unless Chad got fed up with him and started doing his pranks on the QB…

haha.

I’m sure Cutler would love to have him too, but I think he’d love to have a decent offensive lineman (or three) even more. ;)
