Vikings sign Holt!

Glen Holt, that is.  I am guessing this is our new return man.  This post was meant to be disappointing, but he looks like he could be a solid addition to the team.  I think most of his career highlights are kick coverage and returns.  As we all know, Vikes special teams couldn't get any worse.  He had a 24.1 kick return average last year.

Woo Hoo!!!

Another below average player! Jeez… I don’t know why the Vikings feel the need to sign these ho hum players. They should wait til after the draft, when they see what happens with that, plus most teams make additional cuts after the draft to make room for their rookies. There is absolutely no rush to sign a player like Glenn Holt. They probably over paid for him just like they over paid for Paymah. I’m not getting excited about this off season.

Dont hate, appreciate...

Glenn Holt had over 1400 return yards on 59 returns in 2007 and 1100 in 46 returns in 2008. I loved having this guy on my fantasy team, as each weekend, he would get me good numbers in a league that awarded nicely for big return games. This guy is consistently good.

So he averaged 23 yards a return.

A nice upgrade from Aundrae Allison and his 26 yards per return average.

I think it's...

I think it’s more of a “commit to a guy as a returner” type of deal. All the three years Childress has been here there’s been a rotation of guys returning kicks. Hopefully, by delegating the duty to one guy, the return team will improve. Maybe not a substantial amount, but an improvement nonetheless.

I mean, everyone saw what happened when the Bears moved their return specialist to wide receiver; the return game suffered dramatically. I’m happy they got a guy specifically for returns.

Where did you find that stat?

I am seeing that Allison averaged 16.7 yards on 6 kickoff returns with a long of 22. I do see Holt as a serious upgrade.

Just for a moment....

It seemed like the Vikes were on the move, making the right moves, the necessary moves to improve an already very good squad…

Then you dropped the other shoe. You’re lucky we can’t throw it you! :)
