Vikes the first to go after Cutler?
Well, I figured there hasn't been a post about Cutler in the last couple of posts...so...
From Yahoo Sports:
"Before Tampa was involved in a potential three-way trade for Cutler, Minnesota was actually the first team to become engaged in talks for the quarterback. McDaniels acknowledged Tuesday that another team had inquired about Cutler prior to Tampa Bay’s interest, but he declined to name that team. A personnel source confirmed it was the Vikings. According to two league sources, the Vikings would have shipped draft picks to Denver for Cutler, and Denver would have turned around and sent picks to New England for Cassel. However, the deal fell apart early on, after some elements in the Minnesota coaching staff weren’t entirely sold on Cutler."
Interesting...

It would be interesting to know if this was before or after the Rosenfels trade.

true
It would also be interesting to know:
-The price
-The ‘elements’ of the coaching staff
-The qualities of Cutler they weren’t sold on
Depending on that information, I might be quite upset at the Organization for not pulling the trigger (assuming it was possible), Or I might be quite impressed with the Organization for pulling back.
Once again, either way, it is quite an interesting nugget.

No, no...
Don’t you understand? Brad Childress is a Football Sage with a lengthy list of NFL accomplishments. The rest of us are but mere gravel under his feet, just fortunate to bask in the warmth of his innate grasp of the game.
Now, it is conceivable that Childress will be raptured to football heaven. Poof! Just like that. They’ll walk into his office and find nothing but a scorch mark and a mustache comb. Zygi will mourn, but realize it was inevitable, as he was just too smart to continue to grace us with his accumen. Then, of course, they will need to find a new coach. And naturally, as a lesser being, this new coach may not comprehend that quarterbacks are fungible pieces to the puzzle. And like the rest of the rabble he may decide to try to find a starting quarterback. But until that unfortunate day, let us appreciate that we are the glorious recipients of the fruits of the labor of the smartest, most wise coach who has ever walked a sideline.

Rebuilding year in 2010
We are gonna regret not getting Cutler or McNabb or another real quarterback. So, I see it this way… Childress will be fired after we miss the playoffs this season. New coach will come in an draft a very promising rookie QB next draft. We will lose Taylor and a few other key players and will have some real rebuilding to do, while waiting for the rookie QB to mature. I am sick of this organization’s blindness. This is the time to get a real QB in here and push for a championship in the next two years. They won’t do that with Jackson and Rosenfels. Trust me, they will not win big with those guys. It’s a crying shame.

OK...just like 1st post,,,I copied this from different site
A personnel source confirmed it was the Vikings. According to two league sources, the Vikings would have shipped draft picks to Denver for Cutler, and Denver would have turned around and sent picks to New England for Cassel. However, the deal fell apart early on, after some elements in the Minnesota coaching staff weren’t entirely sold on Cutler….WTF…and for of you that do not know what that means….get the F&CK out of sports…We had chance to get Housurmama, but we were too cheap on bid…now we had chance on Cutler and coaches not sold on Cutler…..Well, there we go…Childress great assessment on QB….OMG….Is this unbelieveable or what….By the way for all U newbees..I have been a DIEHARD VIKINGS FAN for last 40+ yrs and have tried to live with Childress and Jackson, but enough is enough. Get rid of Childress…He is such a terrible play caller and coach. We have such the talent to go sooo far, despite Childress…OT, another WR and CB, we should have really good team…..after all the ranting…bottom line is….HOW CAN VIKINGS STAF NOT BE SOLD ON CUTLER ?….CHILDRESS IS SUCK A DUMBA$$

Not sold on Cutler?!?!?!
That doesn’t surprise me. Childress is a complete idiot. This is the same guy that TRADED UP to draft Tarvaris Jackson – the worst QB in the NFL! Let me repeat that in case you didn’t get it, HE ACTUALLY TRADED UP TO DRAFT TARVARIS JACKSON!!! That’s all anyone needs to know about Brad Childress’ football acumen. I disagree with misterdizz on his assessment of the upcoming season though. We won’t miss the playoffs, and in fact we will be better than last year. I think this team has the potential to have the #1 defense in the NFL (certainly top 5), not to mention that we still have the best player in the league. The move to trade for Sage Rosenfels is actually a better move than many people think. He played well last year (insert Rosen-copter joke here) for the injured Matt Schaub, and I think is much more competent than T-Joke. Remember guys, with our team all we need is competency, not spectacular play-making ability from the QB. I think we’ll get that from Rosenfels and I think we’ll go 12-4.
p.s. did I mention that I didn’t like Tarvaris Jackson?

Worst? Surely an exaggeration used for emphasis. Ever met the Lions quarterbacks? :D
And no, I feel no shame for continuing to make jokes about the Lions. It’s my compensation for having to live here.
In AP I trust

Obviously Childress isn’t the only one not sold on Cutler, or else the Broncos wouldn’t be trying to trade him, and/or he’d be dealt by now. Personally, I’m a little flabbergasted, but I’m going to put my trust into the guys who are paid to make these decisions, not the armchair GMs.

From the looks of it
Any team with a pick higher than 34 could have had him and then the patriots still could have gotten a 7th or so for Vrabel. Although maybe the patriots wanted more and just settled after they decided they couldn’t fleece any team just right.

Billy Boy...
LOVES second round picks. So he probably looked for a lower first round/upper second round pick. He has something like three or four in the second round this year? Something insane. He loves’em.
