DRAFT MORNING!

I hope you guys are excited as I am this morning!!  Its like Christmas in April!  I hope when its all said and done we will have unwrapped something akin to a new train set and not the Denny Green-like sweater with ridiculous looking reindeer on the front.

No great last minute draft thoughts, other than musing if we would want to try to get Boldin with our 2nd round pick and maybe next years 4th.  Might be worth it...might not be.

I still forsee the Vikes trading down with someone, maybe a team that's looking at a RB.  I would say pay close attention to which and how many backs go before we pick.

I've got a feeling this draft won't look anything like any mock you've seen thus far. Watch for Ziggy Hood to go way earlier than projected, as well as Darius Butler.  Watch the WRs fall further than anyone thought too.  I am guessing there won't be a WR picked in the top 10.

Well, in any event let's hope for some Viking draft magic today.  We've got the front office that isn't afraid to make a few waves so we could be sitting pretty at the start of tomorrow.

Merry Draftmas!!

I haven’t seen the Vikes having Maclin available to them since the pre-combine mocks. He could be though, if there’s a big run on tackles and defense higher up in the draft. Which is possible.

And I just saw the National Football Post’s which has us taking Maclin. Seems like a bit of a far-fetched scenario to me, but we’ll find out in about 4 hours.

Hope for the best; prepare for the worst; it’ll probably be somewhere in between.

I’d like a playmaker at either WR/CB and an OT today, please.

I'm READY!

Fran is up, having Breakfast (Wheaties with Georgia Peaches and Honey), putting my Jersey on and then off to the Bar (a PBR and pretzels) and watch my Team pick——

Mr. Harvin!

Best... Sir Francis

I don’t want:
Harvin, Vontae Davis, or Heyward Bay.

I do want:
To trade down and take Phil Loadholt and pick up another second round pick.

I agree with the Loadholt pick…The guy is a beast.

What's the Scoop?

We gonna blog here(this post) if there isn’t anything on the main page. Be good to settle on one place rather than a scattering of fan posts. Nothing against fan posts, I love them.
3 hours to go.

3 hours to go.

I don’t remember, have they always started this late? It seems like they used to start closer to noon, but I might be mistaken.

I like the Loadholt

idea. I have been an OT supporter for the most part. Something is telling me not to be shocked if we take Harvin and trade him to a team behind us who really wants him and squeeze a little better extra pick out of the deal
JIANFU- This is a new time slot. They wanted to move closer to prime time. Kind of like the idea. Wives don’t complain about us not getting Sat chores done because I’m on the couch for 10 hours watching the draft. :) Do the hubby thing and can sit back and not be put on the guilt trip cause I didn’t clean the garage or something.

Got my honey-do list completed. Ready for the draft to begin….2 hrs to go!

by Lofoten on Apr 25, 2009 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, this is the second year of the new format. It used to be 3 rounds on the first day and each team had about 3 or 4 more minutes per pick to make their choice/trade. Now its shorter so they can have it in prime time and teams have less time each round to make their decision. I don’t have a “Honey-do” list since I don’t have a wife, but luckily I have a girlfriend who understands my obsession with football and sometimes joins me in watching some of the picks. So a guy like me still wishes there were 3 rounds the first day.
