Conspiracy Trade Theory #1

Was watching some of the pre-draft coverage, because can you ever really get enough of it, and heard something interesting. Appearently the St. Louis Rams are interested in trading back up into the first round if a LB is still available. So far it seems that Aaron Curry, the 3 USC LBs, and possibly Larunitis are the only LBs to possibly be taken in the 1st. I know MilCardFan has written inthe FanPosts that he believes the Vikings will take a LB, but I think that with the Patriots looking for an LB just after the #22 pick, the Vikings might be able to get a few extra picks to move down to the #34 pick to let the Rams jump up an take an LB. If that is a trade possiblitity, do you like it? Should the Vikings hold pat and take BPA or move down and grab some extra picks?

It depends on who’s available really. If Maclin were to be available, somehow, then we absoutely should not trade back because the WR starved teams are right behind us, and we wouldn’t be able to pick him up in the second.

But if it’s really nothing but OTs, which I find unlikely, and CBs, then I’d be fine for it.

I like the trade if we get rams 1st next year.

What would we get

They have the 35th and 66th pick. Is that enough to give up our 22nd? I think that is a minumum. Maybe another later pick or a future pick next year. We could then hopefully get Beatty, OT at 35, our regular pick at 54 and the additional pick at 66.

Intriguing. I love conspiracy theories.

Conclusion: probably wouldn’t do it but it is not a “slam dunk” no.

would be nice but..

I don’t think the Rams would give up #35 & next years firster. (I wouldn’t) And there is no use pursueing deals that won’t ever be made. At least not on draft day. Not enough time.

I think the Vikings could get something similar to what the Eagles got for the #19 pick last year fro Carolina who gave up their 2nd and 4th rounds, plus this years 1st. You may not take the trade because it seems like a lot, but it costs a lot to move back into the first round

Love your theory

If we could get picks #35, #66, and a 4th rd. this or next I say yes! We could address our main needs OT, WR, & CB all in the 2nd rd. and then we can focus on depth and ST’s with the rest of our picks.

Conspiracy Trade Theory #2

Saw on ESPN this morning the Giants may want to move up to get DHB. They have 2 3rd rounders: their own (91) and a compensatory one (100). Packaging the #100 with their own would be an exact match for the #22, via the trade chart now posted on mockingthedraft.com. The Vikings could also maybe get the #91 instead of the #100, as it wouldn’t be that much of a value loss for the Giants if they really wanted Bey.

Anyway, the Vikings could then move down, and perhaps use the new third rounder to move up earlier in the 2nd. Packaging the Vikings #54 with the #91 would put them in fair position to move up to pick #40 or #41. If they got pick #100, they could move up to about #45.

Seems like all these names linked to the Vikings are considered reaches at #22 and not likelys at #54. If they could switch to #28 and somewhere between #40-#45, they could maybe be in position to land TWO of the guys we’ve seen them linked to. Britton, Harvin, Loadholt, Alphonso Smith…

Well thought out.

A scenario I would like to see happen.

Good theory. I would love it if they traded down to get a earlier 2nd and a 1st next year, but if they got a smathering of 2nds and 3rds this year, I would be happy with that too. They would probably do just like you described and start moving up and down the board to get the guys they like.

WR & Linebacker

According to Pioneer Press, Greenway was overheard saying that the Vikes needs were at WR & LB. Not sure if that holds much credibility, the way teams try to throw other teams off the scent, but it caught my attention.
