Phil Loadholt

Here's a pretty cool video on Loadholt from ESPN.com:

http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/clip?id=3749831&c ategoryid=null

The guy is freakin huge.  But like Stoops said, he carries it really well.  He doesn't look like some fat blob.  I'm really excited about him at RT.  He seems like a good guy too.

This draft as a whole has been excellent for us.  Harvin is another big playmaker that we need to take the heat off of AP, and Berrian.   And someone that can hopefully return kicks for us.  And then Loadholt fills a HUGE need at RT.

Good guy?

He did have a run in with the law but this draft it’s all about second chances baby. He may have slow feet but on the right side he won’t face many speed rushers and boy oh boy is AP going to be happy to see at RT, as Mayock said it," He blocks out the sun in running plays". I hope we go back to straight on power blocking now so we can really wear defenses down and Harvin, AP, and CT can tear the league up! Go Vikes!!!

Loadholt could be the Vikings' best pick of the draft

Somebody else had posted this article in another thread, and if there is any truth to the idea that longer arms = better performance, and sometimes the ability to play both sides, then we are in luck. Phil has the longest arms of any OT in this draft.

I’m more excited than I was the last time the VIkings selected an OT in the 2nd round after selecting a WR in the 1st round…let’s hope both meet expectations this time around.

Yeah, Loadholt’s length should enable him to pass protect well on the right side. (And his pass pro can’t be all THAT bad: he was the LT on the best college offense in the nation.)

As much as I like the zone blocking scheme—and as much as I think Peterson could really thrive with it if they used it on running plays, where he could be free to read and cut wherever he saw a lane—the Vikings officially have an O-Line full of maulers. Childress and Co. ought to just scrap the ZBS.

MOUNTkinnie & LOADholt ( Mount and Load anyone?)

Wow! I am glad Loadholt was picked by the vikes. Massive size at either side of the Tackles will seal ends and give Harvin and AP chances at screens. They will also engulf the defensive line and eat them up so AP can take it up the middle. Hutch will be his usual dominant self. Now we need a healthy competition at Center and keep Herrera at RG.

I still miss Birk. We would easily have the best line with Birk in the lineup. Still wish him the best.
