Why Now?

Why did the Vikings wait till after the draft to address the QB situation?  To me this just shows that Chilly has now business running an NFL team. Sure it is more than likely that Brett the Fairy will be a Viking. Farve has been PAST his prime for the past 5 years. Sure he had 1 magical season a couple years back. All I can see his him imploding the way he did with the Jets last season. Well at least Chilly will be gone next season then. The next coach will need to fix what he screwed up.

WHY?!?!?!

In AP I trust
Brett Favre should go die somwhere

Post-draft

Because the Jets still had to release Favre. They didn’t release him until they had their future QB. The world is all about politics and this keeps the Jets from losing face by releasing Favre. Jets aren’t stupid, they knew Favre wanted to go to the Vikings. Favre and Chilly just had to wait it out, so as to not bring up more problems like last years meddling investigation.

That is part of my conspiracy theory…that his arm isn’t really hurt.

Are you saying they should’ve drafted a QB…? If yes, then I completely disagree with that idea – then we’d have TJ, JDB, and a rookie.

Who do you think we should have gone after earlier?

I hope Favre stays retired. We don’t need the drama, his 40 yr old arm, or his interceptions.

No No

Jason
I think that the Vikes should have gone after either Leftwich or Garcia. I am sure they are not the Viking type of a QB, but they have more left in the tank than Favre does. Coulda shoulda but didnt
I think it would have been a dumb move if the Vikes would have drafted a player in the 1st day.

Pass Pass Pass

Chilly passed on Pennington. He passed on Garcia. He passed on Cutler, Warner, Leftwich and Cassell. What can this mean?!?!?! OMG!

It means that Chilly believes Jackson and Rosenfels can get the Vikes to the Super Bowl. :) Because anything less than a legitimate Super Bowl run puts Chilly’s job in danger. So grab some popcorn and get ready to watch the show… but keep the marshmellow’s handy, in case we have to light us up a Childress-Bonfire by the end of the year.

Childress isn’t the only guy not sold on Garcia or Leftwich. Leftwich has absolutely no guaranteed money on his contract, and the Bucs drafted a QB in the first round. Some think Leftwich was just a smokescreen. Even if he wasn’t, he’s not going to be automatic starter. There’s a competition he has to win. Garcia isn’t going to be a starter either. He’s going to be a back up to JaMarcus Russel.

Do they have more in the tank than Favre? Yes, they could probably stick around a few more years. Do they have his ability? No. They don’t.

Leftwich

I’m not sold on Leftwich either, to be honest. He was odd-man out with the Steelers and released; why would we expect their 3rd string QB to be a suitable 1st stringer in Minny? Just going by Pitts’ assessment, I’m glad they passed on him.

The Jags did an excellent job

making the call to go with Garrard over Leftwich. A lot of folks at the time questioned that call, but it really proved to be one of the better calls in the league that year. The Jags definitely went out on a limb, but it certainly (in hindsight) has proven to be the right call.
