Sydney Rice's Blog, Knee, and Character
For those who don't know, Sydney has a blog. He doesn't update it much, but it's interesting to read things straight from a player with no media filter.

About his knee: "I’m pretty much over my injury, I’m running routes at full speed, I just need to get my strength back to 100%. I’ll be working with the trainers on that starting today and I’ll be there long after practice for extra work just to get up to speed."
He also talks a little about Percy Harvin and all the attention, but says he (Rice) will do whatever it takes to help Percy even though they're competing for the the same position, because they're teammates. He writes, "Everybody helps out everybody here, this team has that kind of chemistry."
That quote, that sentiment, is a large part of the reason I do NOT want a certain circus coming to town.
Sydney RIce sounds like a fine young man.

I’m liking the subtle circus reference and agree with it.
In AP I trust
Brett Favre should go die somwhere

It means he's saying the right things
He could easily be referring to past uses of “Percyland” and other Percy-centric terms.
“The coaches want us to know all the wide receiver slots because you never know what can happen, you could be thrown out there at any position like it’s your job. They’re expecting us to know what’s going on all over the field.”
I like the sound of that. It means they are looking at opening the playbook up and trying new stuff. With the talent that we have, we should be doing all kinds of trickery and fun stuff, to go along with AP and Chester’s straight forward smashing.
By “opening the playbook up” do you mean that there not going to be running a watered down highschool playbook like the did last year when TJ was at QB?? I like Sage, but TJ is nothing more then a decent backup QB for any team in the NFL. Our play selections last year, when he was behind center, was pathetic. I know of at least 4 times that the commentators on the game called the play that we ran BEFORE we even ran it. When TJ is behind center this is what are play selection was about 80% of the time:
1st down: Run the ball to the left
2nd down: Run the ball to the left or right
3rd down: Bootleg playaction pass
4th down: punt
Thats all we did…. BRING IN FAVRE!!!! OPEN UP THE PLAYBOOK!!!
Brad Childress
Doesn’t matter who the QB is as long as Childress brings his “play not to lose” offense to the field, with the mentality of “I don’t need to make any adjustments, ever, with this kickass offense.”
Starting? Competing for the same slot??? Your honor, I call on Rice vs. Wade
I either don’t fully follow, or just don’t agree with Sidney’s comment about having to compete for a slot with Percy. I hate to trash Bobby Wade here, but I will.. :) A Bears reject WR?? Who WOULDN’T!!!? Jesus.. Rice barely being on the field already has MORE career touchdowns! (8-7) Yes, career. I am eagerly awaiting, but won’t hold my breath, the release of Wade. I realize that Percy will definitely be running up hill, as far as trying to develop into an every-down starting WR in the NFL.
But does anyone agree with me in saying that I’d like to see BB, Percy in the slot, and Rice on the other end most downs in 3-wide? And to me, BB and Rice/Percy interchangeably for all 2-WR sets. Man, even Allison has more game than Wade.
Two different styles of play
Wade is the gritty 3rd down-short yardage receiver that you need to have coming out of the slot when you need a first down. Rice is a down-the-field, hug-the-sidelines type of receiver. These are two entirely different playing styles that can be compared to the TE-WR difference. Now, seeing Percy take playing time from Wade is a possibility, since he can easily play the slot with alot more speed than Wade.
