Not your guys answer @ QB

He might make the offense more “exciting” but against good defenses he will throw costly INts. Well, shit, you guys should know Favre better than an Eagles fan :)

Agreed

So, we are going to go after your QB instead. McNabb, come on over.

An excellent idea.

You guys would have to give up a lot.

But it would make you guys SB contenders.

You could argue that our current QBs throw costly INTS against good defenses as well. Which is why I’d rather get Favre, so we can add some credibility to our passing game when he’s not throwing ints, and to take some pressure off Peterson.

by Frost on May 5, 2009 5:37 PM CDT up reply actions

kagey

hey, frosty,
our current qb’s throw int against MEDIOCRE defenses! at least farve can occasionally hit one of OUR recievers too.

by kagey on May 5, 2009 8:03 PM CDT up reply actions

I’m not saying he can’t.

by Frost on May 5, 2009 9:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Adrian Peterson is all i care about...

and Yes, I do think Favre @ QB will open up the running lanes for #28 so much more than T.Jack or Rosenfels (even if they would become better than the current Favre, defenses have no respect for Jackson or Sage, an old Favre still gets respect).

I want Favre, just because I think it would make Peterson’s job so much easier, #28 is the future of this team & if Favre can help keep that future from facing 8 in the box multiple times during the season, i’m all for the old INT throwing gunslinger!

No

No, no, no.

I realize Favre signing with the Vikings is probably inevitable, but I want no part of an over-the-hill, injury-prone, ego-centric interception machine and diva that is Brett Favre.

by Midnight Rambler on May 5, 2009 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

Neither do I. And I think I’m going to end up commenting on every comment in this thread.

Expected this for over a year......

……but it doesn’t make it any easier to wrap my head around. The thought of him in purple, not to mention cheering for him to succeed after all these years of doing the extreme opposite, could very well lead me to insanity.

At least I hear crazy is fun.

He has no choice

Face it, Chilly has no choice at this point. He chose TJACK and that failed, then he brought in that other guy and still lost in the first round of the playoffs because he made a huge mistake thinking that TJACK was his guy, again. Now he faces a ‘make it or you’re gone’ season with all the pieces of a quality football team in place, except for the QB. He has no choice. It is the beginning of the end for Chilly. Maybe next season (2010-2011) we will have a real coach.

THERE'S ALWAYS A CHOICE!

Favre is like drugs. JUST SAY NO!

22 TDs 22 picks

Yeah. I really want a 40-year old has been.

Pre injury, he had led the Jets to an 8-3 record with 20 TDs to 13 Ints. Then he hurt his arm.

Honestly, a healthy Favre is a LOT better than what we have now, and this is coming from a guy’s who’s defended Jackson time and again.

by Frost on May 5, 2009 6:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Who’s to say he’s healthy? I really don’t believe he’ll be any better, especially not after TEARING THE TENDONS in his THROWING ARM. I don’t believe even a healthy Brett Favre leads us to the Super Bowl.

In AP I trust

by FarvaForTheVikings on May 5, 2009 7:46 PM CDT up reply actions

I disagree

The 8-3 record was due to a much improved defense more so than the good play of brett favre. He hasnt been solid in years.

by Joe_D on May 5, 2009 9:37 PM CDT up reply actions

I really don’t think the strength of the Jets last year was their defense. It won them a few games, most notably the Buffalo game, but I’m pretty sure the catalyst from 4-12 to 9-7 was mostly Favre.

by Frost on May 5, 2009 9:48 PM CDT up reply actions

He threw six TDs in one game. Completely bloating his statistics. Even if that was his normal 2 or 3 touchdown game his line would read 17 TDs 12 Ints. Hardly inspiring especially for a has been.

by mjschaefer on May 6, 2009 7:49 AM CDT up reply actions

That’s more TDs than any of our QBs threw. And given how close our games were, those 5 TDs could have made a huge difference.

by Frost on May 6, 2009 9:55 AM CDT up reply actions

But this also doesn’t include the last couple games, which brought his TD/INT ratio to .500.

In AP I trust
Brett Favre should go die somwhere

by FarvaForTheVikings on May 6, 2009 10:21 AM CDT up reply actions

Wasn’t our TD:Int ratio, overall, pretty close to .500 anyways?

Frerotte had… I think, 13 TDs to 18 Ints.

Jackson: 9 TDs to 2 Ints not including playoffs.

So 22 TDs v 20 Ints.

Not a huge difference really. Long as Favre stays healthy, we should be just fine.

by Frost on May 6, 2009 12:45 PM CDT up reply actions

I just don’t think he betters our team that much, and so isn’t worth the risk.

The way I see it, we’ll be, at best, a little better, or he’ll end up killing our season.

Hate to say it again

bu tI predicted this on a fan post just before the draft. Probobly a no brainer, but this played out just the way I thought it would.
Like it or not, Brett Boy had this all maped out

I'm telling ya...

I’m telling you guys, this is most likely a done deal. There is nothing standing in the way of him getting his way and playing AGAINST the Packers twice a year.

Except for me with a shotgun.

by FarvaForTheVikings on May 5, 2009 7:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Thsi was a done deal

When Brett was with the Jets and “coming up lame” the last 7 games. He threw those games to get released. I would bet on it.

by CitrusFLViking on May 5, 2009 11:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I would be amused..

to see Favre in purple and would have no problem cheering for him. I won’t even care that much if he throws 22 interceptions as long as he throws 22 touchdowns as well. I’m not even much of a Favre fan. Just the idea of him playing for our team for once is strangely appealing.

by oblivionspocket on May 5, 2009 7:15 PM CDT reply actions

I don’t care if you find it appealing but explain to me how 22 interceptions helps the team?

We had about 22 interceptions last year. Frerotte had 18, Jackson had 2. 20 vs 22. Not a huge difference.

Favre brings more to the table than Jackson though, even at this point in his career. He’ll be able to recognize defensive schemes alot faster than Jackson can.

by Frost on May 6, 2009 9:56 AM CDT up reply actions

He’ll also be bringing an arm with torn tendons and an ego the size of (pick a movie star)’s five mansions put together.

And I don’t care about that, because he will likely win us some games and give us a chance to fully evaluate Childress. He’ll have a ProBowl QB, so he’ll have no excuse it we do terrible.

by Frost on May 6, 2009 12:46 PM CDT up reply actions

It’s obviously coming down to opinions at this point. I don’t think he’s that good anymore, and you say he’s a ProBowl QB. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

So.......does this mean Tavaris goes bye-bye if Favre is signed?

As an NFL fan I can’t stand this anymore. Brad Childress is really trying to broaden his “piss the fanbase off” quota.
