MLB=NFL

MLB Dodger Slugger Manny R. was suspended 50 games for violation of its performance enhancing policy. Manny says that they were prescribed, MLB doesnt care.
What is so revalent about how this will affect the Vikings' Williamses is that the drug Manny took isnt HGH or steroids but a sexual performance enhancer (or women tranquilizers, according to which story you follow). MLB says that those drugs can be used to mask steroids even though they arent steroids of any kind.
If history is a big predictor of what will happen in the future, my bet is that the Williams Wall lose their appeal since the 4 major sports look to each other for guidance when setting player policy for drugs and conduct. Dieretic isnt a steroid, neither was Manny's blue pill. MLB doesnt care, neither will the NFL.
I want the NFL to rescind their suspension, but it is less than likely now.

If they miss the first 4 games,

they will be potentially easy games. So I wouldn’t worry too much.

The Bear is right.

But it would still suck.

In AP I trust

I do wonder though...

if they get a 4 game suspension, to what extent would they be able to participate in other things? Would the pre-season be out? I know they wouldn’t be able to practice or train with the team during the regular season stuff, but what about stuff before the regular season?

That might hurt their conditioning and game-prepping for when they do come back.

When McKinnie was suspended...

I’m pretty sure he had to work out in Florida without his teammates. At least they’d be able to do it together, Kevin and Pat, so hopefully that would make it easier to handle.

Raw Deal

I just think the whole charge against them is horsepucky, I hate to see them penalized, whether it impacts the Vikes or not. The NFL needs to be more reasonable in considering those cases, and if a player has no history of abuse, how about giving him the benefit of the doubt if there is one.

Benefit of the doubt?

Olympian testing is more rigid, and even in those events which do not involve $Millions, they obviously can’t be given the benefit of the doubt.

Including Carl Lewis

He may have been drug/PED-free, but some of us still regret giving him the benefit of the doubt when he attempted to sing the national anthem. He SO did not make up for it.

I suppose...

It’s a good thing that the league is no longer in control of the Wall’s suspension. The Federal Courts are in charge of it now.

There is a difference between the two.

Manny had access to information from the league saying the substance was banned, he took it anyhow.

It does not matter if it was prescribed or not, it is still banned from the league.

There are plenty of people in pro sports who could easily get a prescription of Adderall, which is an ADD drug that is a mixture of Methamphetamine and Dextroamphetamine. But it is BANNED from the league due to it’s performance enhancing nature.

Another good point is that the substance that Manny tested positive for is a drug that is prescribed to CURRENT and FORMER steroid users to help increase their natural hormone production that was affected by steroid use.

The two situations are apples to oranges.

Also

I’ve heard that the only reason a man Manny’s age needs to take this would be to re-start testosterone production which after using steroids. If that is true, then the fact that Manny’s story involves a doctor does not help his cause much since at least 99% of medical reasons to give it to him point toward steroid use.
