DJ Gallo has done it again! Check out his article from his Sports Pickle site for what the ESPN reporters have might have really been talking about when they reported on the Vikings' deadline. My favorite part of the article is the last "quote" from Sage Rosenfels at the end.

Loved this part:

"I’m going to be horrible in the fourth quarter," Rosenfels said. "That’s a given. But so will Brett Favre. Difference is, I’ll do it for less money and I’m not an a—hole."

Hands down winner of Vikings QB news this week.

And that line was awesome.

When you go to somebody's house, you don't crap on their floor. Being a fan of one team does NOT give you license to be a dick to fans of another.

Well, considering how long he’s played and how he used to be good, that’s really not surprising. He’s also #1 in interceptions. But we’re talking about the present here, and he while he doesn’t always blow fourth quarters, he hasn’t exactly won a whole lot of big games lately either.

In AP I trust
Just say no to Favre.

If by “he hasn’t exactly won a whole lot of big games lately either” you mean he’s been absolutely terrible and a nearly complete failure, then ya, I would have to agree with you.

Well that’s what I meant, but I didn’t want to anger the pro-Favre people too much.

In AP I trust
Just say no to Favre.

duh...

Of course he’s 1st. in interceptions. When you throw THAT many passes in THAT many years.
He’s also 1st. in touchdowns………

His articles are pretty hit-or-miss with me, I prefer Bill Simmons, but I love this one.

Just say no to Favre.

Simmons

If only he would stop writing about Boston teams and focus just a little more attention on Football. I love the Sports Gal rants too. Simmons (during football season) and TMQ are the only good things coming out of ESPN.

Norm Green still sucks!

Funny but...

I am getting tired of the Jackson bashing (even though those Rosenfels quotes were pretty funny). Last year Jackson played in a total of nine games and put up solid numbers such as a 95.4 quarterback rating (Favre barely broke 80), threw 9 touchdowns to 2 picks (Favre was even at 22 picks and TDs), and won a playoff game, something that hasn’t been done in Minneota since Randy Moss wore a Vikes jersey. Yes, he had his moments of inconsistency as young (and old) players will, but chances are he could have worked out some of those mental mistakes with more time on the field instead of sitting on the bench watching Gus throw up a sub 80 QB rating with more pics than TD’s and a LOSING record. It’s just getting old hearing Jackson get trashed when he has been the most successful starting quarterback the Vikes have had in the last 6 years. Bashing a winner because he’s not the “pedigree” or the “top shelf” type of player is ridiculous. People fall in love with some guy on tape because he has all the skills and is such and such tall and blah blah big arm and all that nonsense. That mentality has worked really well for those obsessed with the Matt Leinarts and Rob Johnsons of the league. But as long as the Vikings keep drooling after Favre and putting guys right behind Jackson as a constant reminder “lose this game and you’re gone kid”, there’s a chance we won’t know how good he can be. Until he wins the Super Bowl for another team.

couple things

Jackson didn’t win a playoff game. Unless you are counting the game against the Giants, which was essentially a playoff game (win or go home).

watching Gus throw up a sub 80 QB rating with more pics than TD’s and a LOSING record.

Frerotte did throw more INT’s than TD’s. But he still had a record of 8-3. That’s not a losing record.

Other than that, I agree with your assesment
