Chilly talks with Favre Last Week.
From Judd Zulgad over at the Star Tribune..
Brad Childress shed little light on the Brett Favre situation after his team completed an OTA practice today, but the Vikings coach did acknowledge that he talked to the retired quarterback last week.
Childress would not comment on if Favre told him anything about the surgery he reportedly had to repair a partially torn biceps tendon in his throwing (right) arm. Childress said he made the call to Favre, who many expect to end his second attempt at retirement to play for the Vikings this season.

Childress pulls an Espy
From today’s press conference:
As for what Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels know about this situation, Childress said he really doesn’t talk to those two about Favre’s potential arrival. Jackson and Rosenfels have been expected to battle for the starting quarterback job in training camp. Childress’ response was interesting because in his KFAN interview he painted it as if Jackson and Rosenfels were in the loop.
"I really don’t," talk to them about Favre, Childress said today. "Those guys play football and I coach football and look at personnel, as I mentioned before. So they’d be out of their lane and I’d be out of my lane in sharing any of our business. Whether it be surgery, injury, talking about other players. We just don’t do that. It’s more of a coaching relationship."
You know when I said yesterday that it was nice he was showing leadership qualities in sitting these guys down and saying that “if we get Favre, you’re getting benched because he’s better than you”?
Yeah.
When you go to somebody's house, you don't crap on their floor. Being a fan of one team does NOT give you license to be a dick to fans of another.
Yeah, strange.
He has to have talked about it with them, though. Perhaps his “on the podium” speech is just different than his more casual “on the radio” speech. Who knows.

it sounds more to me like chili is saying he doesn’t discuss details about favre. he probably told them the vikings are looking at signing him if he can play but that doesn’t mean chili’s gonna discuss everything he finds out with them or keep them updated on favre’s status. chili told them, favre’s not on the team yet, they’re still in a competition, that’s it.

I have a question for you guys...
are you as sick of Favre as the rest of us? I just wonder because if you do get him it could really help your team…but I also believe that all of these so-called “reports” from BSPN have got to be driving you nuts…
Just curious.

Yes
Probably more so. We are all sick about the whole Favrapalooza thing. I’d say about 70% of us here want Favre to come to Minnesota, while the other 30% don’t want him anywhere near the team. But 100% of us want this damn back and forth thing to stop ASAP

Dead on with the second part.
I’d prefer he stay away from Minnesota, but we can all agree that he and the Vikings just needs to make up their damn minds. I’m sick of this will-he-or-won’t-he that just will not die. Ugh.

Very true about that.
Not used to the Vikings getting so much coverage. That is a nice thing, but it’s all focused on Favre. They’re not talking about AP or Harvin or anything; just Favre. So it’s nice to have exposure, but I’m just wanting a decision to be made now. It’s exhausting trying to keep up with Favre and his constant flippy-floppy nature.
