Madden 2010 Ratings

The ratings for the new Madden are out.

Minnesota Vikings

Not much love for the Vikings. Man, they weren't very generous this year. I think that was one of their sticking points, though; the superstars will actually BE superstars. So yeah. I can't wait.

They're actually out for everyone, so here's the rest of the NFC North as well:

Chicago Bears

Green Bay Packers

Detroit Lions

For those keeping score, Cutler is one point better overall that Rodgers. Just thought that was funny.

Vikings' QBs are terrible, though, so that's kinda funny at us too.

Sage is a 69 and Tarvaris is a 67. Ugh.

Favre, however, would of course be a 100 (sarcasm).

I understand

that they revamped the ratings system this eyar to make the real superstars, actually seem MUCH better than everyone else in the game, but some of these are ridiculous.

Our best linebacker is 83 OVR?

EJ Henderson is 80 OVR, tied with Cedric Griffin?!???

Ben Leber is a 66 OVR?

Chester Taylor 78 OVR??

Ryan Longwell, one of the best Kickers in the league is 81 OVR??

I’m extremely disappointed.

As usual...

There are things I disagree with. Leber seems low, but if you think that they basically left the Superstars and dropped about ten off of everyone else, it seems okay. That would make Tayler an 88, Henderson (who could be a Superstar this year…) a 90, Leber a 76, it makes me feel a bit better. Look at the rest of the North; they all have similar types of things as well.

I actually think it will work fairly well. I was disappointed with the Vikings’ offensive line; they seemed pretty low overall. Again, though, it is a product of their new system. I mean, think of using AP against any of the other defenses…they will get absolutely trashed.

You know what I noticed? The Lions have a better LB Corps than we do in this game. How does that happen?

by Frost on Jun 11, 2009 5:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Because they have Julian Peterson, Ernie Simms and Larry Foote.

3 names that are recognizable by people from other teams. I couldn’t tell you the names of anyone on the Lions D-line or in their secondary, but I can name their linebackers.

by Bjorno on Jun 12, 2009 1:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

Even with the new system Leber shouldn’t be a 66. The other guys are around 80, Leber should at least be 75 or so. They’ll definitely end up updating that come the regular season.

by Frost on Jun 11, 2009 5:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Not sure

I really like the idea of having significant differences between players for once. Before, players at a given position were only separated by about 15 points OVR top to bottom, creating the illusion that almost any rookie could become a Pro Bowler given adequate playing time for a year or two. This way, there will be certain players who are useful, but will clearly never close the gap and become a superstar. An alarmingly low number like 66 shouldn’t be so bad in a real game when going up against fullbacks or marginal OLs (or when covering a RB, FB or TE who isn’t a skilled receiver). I could understand 66 for Leber were his injury rating much lower, but it isn’t, so I agree with you a little bit.

On the other hand, TAHI IS AWESOME on Madden 2010!

by KC Viking on Jun 11, 2009 10:37 PM CDT up reply actions

He’s as good a player at his position as Taylor is!

by Frost on Jun 12, 2009 10:42 AM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

…which isn’t great, but those ACC, AGI, SPD, and STR are what I try to get in my Madden FBs.

by KC Viking on Jun 13, 2009 8:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Always interesting to look at.

I disagree with the linebackers, but five points of that has to be because of the rep the front line of the D has.

I’m kind of curious what effect awareness has on ratings, because check out the difference between Robison and Edwards…

NAME TM POS OVR SPD ACC STR AGL AWR STA TGH INJ JMP TCK CAT
R. Edwards MIN LE 75 74 86 76 75 67 72 70 91 67 67 35
B. Robison MIN RE 69 73 86 79 74 55 79 82 94 88 70 45

And yes, I still maintain that Robison should be the starting LE. Why do you ask?

Awareness’ effect on overall rating depends on the position.

For example, a defensive lineman does not need to have high awareness to be effective.

Whereas a Middle linebacker needs good awareness because they are calling the defensive signals on most teams.

For all you gamer nerds.

When does this come out?

I’m a gamer nerd too, I just figured someone might now without me having to take the time to go look it up.

Personally

I think our linebacking core is way underrated and by the middle of the season we will see that their ratings will be significantly increased. Otherwise i already knew about the new ratings system and think most of the other ratings are fair.

LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!

by alldayson28 on Jun 11, 2009 6:17 PM CDT reply actions

Wow

They really weren’t generous at all with the ratings. I think last year after all the updates Griffin ended the season at 85. So for him to go down to 80 is questionable. I don’t like when video games use the “superstar style” of rating players. I think Sage and Jackson’s ratings are a little harsh too haha. I was disappointed that Rodgers is only an 86 after he ended the year as an 89 last year. Also Cutler one better then Rodgers? I would be interested to hear the explanation for that. Haha but this is just a video game, not like it’s real life or anything!

by packallday555 on Jun 11, 2009 6:49 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah, most of the time the “superstars” are just getting along by reputation. For instance, Brian Urlacher is, I believe, a 96(? Too lazy to check) in the ratings as it stands. Which I don’t get. Granted, I don’t want the Bears’ games every week unless they’re playing us, but when I see Urlacher play, it really doesn’t strike me as superstar-status anymore. You could easily argue that Henderson and Barnett should be in the 90’s if Urlacher is.

by Frost on Jun 11, 2009 9:02 PM CDT up reply actions

O ya

I think Henderson and Barnett should be easily be in the 90s’. It’s clear that when their both playing and healthy there are 2 of the better MLBs’ in the league.

by packallday555 on Jun 12, 2009 1:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Don't forget Chad

Greenway who kept getting noted all season as being a possible Pro Bowler; he was rated lower than Leber who was hardly ever a factor last year. Greenway and Big EJ together, that could be real nice behind that line.

by TheChadK on Jun 13, 2009 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Leber Rocks!

I think he’s the most underrated member of the LB corps. He had enough speed and situational awareness to range from the front line out to lending assist to the secondary in bringing down WRs, I’m glad he’s with the Vikes.

by DCPurple on Jun 15, 2009 7:19 AM CDT up reply actions

How about T Jack

Compared to Rogers? Sure Rogers played the whole year but Jackson had a 95 QB rating where Rogers was mid to low 80’s, especially his last five or six games. He is still a bit raw, but come on, a 66 in accuracy and 67 in awareness? About ten lower in each that he should be. Even in a video game he can’t catch a break.

by TheChadK on Jun 13, 2009 10:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Typo

Make that ten higher in each. Mid seventies is realistic.

by TheChadK on Jun 13, 2009 10:07 PM CDT up reply actions

His accuracy is ridiculously low, I’ll agree with that, but you can’t compare him to Rodgers. Yes, Jackson had a 95 QB rating… in around 6 games of meaningful playing time. Rodgers played the entire year. Jackson likely wouldn’t have kept that 95 rating if he had played in 16 games.

by Frost on Jun 13, 2009 11:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Haha ya I dunno about all that

Jackson had a QB rating of 95 in only like 6 games or something. Also keep in mind the teams he played against were all relatively weak on D. Jackson completed like 58% of his passes, that is pretty much horrible. That’s where the 66 in accuracy, and 67 in awareness come from. Rodger’s had like the 7th best QB rating last year or something like that. He was also top 7 in the other major passing categories. By no means in he even a little bit comparable to Rodgers.

by packallday555 on Jun 16, 2009 2:34 AM CDT up reply actions

Seems like they really made the ratings a little more realistic so the great players will really standout. But EJ Henderson’s is VERY low

by Zoxide on Jun 12, 2009 12:26 AM CDT reply actions

EJ

Had a speed rating of 80 in previous Madden games. Don’t think his injury slowed him down THAT much.

by TheChadK on Jun 13, 2009 10:08 PM CDT up reply actions

Seriously?

Sidney Rice has 94 injury? I don’t think he has been close to healthy more than 4 weeks in his 2 year career.

Didn’t I hear somewhere that Kleinsasser has like a 36" vert? 66 catch is a bit low for him as well, just because he is a blocking tight end doesn’t mean he has bad hands.

EJ and Leber are slower than Kevin Williams?

It’s almost as if they don’t actually take any real data, and just make stuff up as they go along.

by Bjorno on Jun 12, 2009 2:01 AM CDT reply actions

Haha seriously

That is ridiculous!!! How could they ever even make EJ and Leber slower then Pat? They really must have just been making things up.

by packallday555 on Jun 12, 2009 1:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Does it bother anyone that Tahi and Chester have the same rating? Last I checked Taylor could at least get a few yards on the patented viking 3 yard dump pass on 3rd and 10, while Tahi…well not so much.

by vikesnumber1 on Jun 12, 2009 11:51 AM CDT reply actions

Tahi is rated that high overall because he is a fullback, and their overall rating is based more on blocking than running ability.

You will notice that Taylors speed, agility and acceleration are all much better than Tahi. But I will say that Taylor got the shaft on ratings.

by Bjorno on Jun 12, 2009 1:06 PM CDT up reply actions

I wonder what Brett Favre's rating will be.

The media S’s his D so much that I would’t doubt if they threw him in with an incredibly high rating.

Can someone look and see what they put him at on the Jets last year?

"American made, White Trash raised, and Bad Ass engraved"

by Viking Frog on Jun 12, 2009 1:07 PM CDT reply actions

I believe

He was an 89 when he first came in. I think the highest he ever got was 92, and that was around Week 11 I think. I’m pretty sure his ratings went down though, because of his poor play.

by packallday555 on Jun 12, 2009 1:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah he’s an 88 in ‘09 now. Which means he’ll be something like an 80 or so if he does come out of retirement.

I dont like the ratings, but oh well

I wonder what Favre will be, but the look at the good side, if you are playing online and Cutler goes down, Hanie is a 45 LOL.

It seems everyone is down on all teams, so I guess it is alright
