BSPN: Vikings to Assess Favre's Progress
I've wondered if I should even be posting this, but I think it's best to simply keep people updated, keep the discussing flowing, and let each person decide whether or not to view this as a credible report. Given ESPN's track record, I personally do not. Regardless, here's what they're saying is the latest development in Favregeddon:
In the next few days a Minnesota Vikings trainer and a member of the team's coaching staff intend to travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to work with retired quarterback Brett Favre, a source close to the situation tells ESPN.
The Vikings staffers will be assessing Favre's progress since having arthroscopic surgery to repair a partially torn biceps tendon in recent weeks.
More often than not, when a "source close to the situation" has told ESPN something about Brett Favre, the report has been wrong. Granted, it certainly makes sense that the Vikings would want to observe and assess Favre, so this latest development is quite a bit more believable than Ed Werder's deadline report was, but I'm simply not buying a word that comes out of Bristol, Connecticut anymore. As far as I'm concerned, they've lost their credibility and need to earn it back.

Just like the report, from somebody close to the situation of course, that Childress was going down to Mississippi to try and talk Favre out of retirement before, right?
Personally, I’m not going to believe any report I read from ESPN regarding Favre until he either files to return to the game and/or gets his ass into training camp.

Pretty much — can’t say I’ve ever heard a reporter actually explain what makes a person “close to the situation,” but whatever.
two guys wearing viking hats made flight reservations to new orleans, which is, you know, pretty close to missississippi.

That would seem to be the most “credible” source bspn got information from. They got the news from a guy from Miss. that they got drunk with at the airport.

ESPN Contradictions
Doesn’t this story contradict their previous story they told on Tuesday? The story they told about Chilly moving on without Favre because Favre wasn’t present at OTA’s. ESPN is a joke.
Done Deal
Favre is going to be Viking.

Sorry but...
He will be very soon. They are negotiating a contract as we speak. You will be able to see #4 in July in camp.

Just the Facts, Ma'am
If we only paid attention to things that came from, A) The Vikings organization, and B) Favre, we wouldn’t have a lot to talk about… For all the gnashing of teeth, weeping and wailing and chest-beating, the only two credible, meaningful sources of info on the matter have been relatively quiet, leaving the media (old, traditional, new, alternative, TV, cable, radio, blogosphere, etc etc) to rant and rave in speculative isolation.
Makes it difficult for me to read most of the Favrysterical postings here or in the newspapers because they’re just getting all frothy for the fun of it, and I guess I’m getting to be too old for that sort of fanboy nonsense.
But I guess this takes up space in the deathly quiet between OTAs and camp and pre-season.
