Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Mike Florio predicts the news of Favre signing with the Vikings will break on July 3rd -- he writes that the holiday weekend would reduce the media spectacle quite a bit (also, Chilly's vacationing with Andy Reid in Alaska until next Monday so it obviously wouldn't happen before he returns).

A Favregeddon resolution several weeks before the start of training camp? I'd be doing cartwheels, but I'll believe it when I see it.

New to jersey buying

But my father would kill for an “official” “authentic” Favre Vikes jersey for his Aug 1 birthday. Any idea what I can expect to pay?

$100 plus

I know that’s what I spent on my Hutch jersey.

When you go to somebody's house, you don't crap on their floor. Being a fan of one team does NOT give you license to be a dick to fans of another.

Wario!

"He didn’t call me or anything. It was an accident, but a lot of people would have called to see how someone is doing after they got hit in the head. Especially if they had to go on the DL." — Morneau on pitcher Ron Villone after an April 2005 beaning.

I believe...

that the “Authentic” jerseys run in the $200-$250 range. Replica jerseys (Which is what most people buy) run around $80.

Still trying to decide what my new jersey is going to be this year… I’ve got AD, Allen, EJ, & T-Jax. I’m thinking Berrian, Harvin, Loadholt, or, what I think would be hilariously awesome, Kluwe.

Agreed

Florio’s logic about avoiding the media with a July 4th sneak attack is like saying they would not have reported about World War II in this country because the Japanese had struck Pearl Harbor much too close to the Christmas holiday. Anyone who thinks that Mankato is not going to be invaded by a hundred legions of raging reporters this summer clearly has not been paying much attention to what has happened over the past three months.

Paul Allen is one of the few sports media people I greatly respect.
