Favreapalooza is getting outta hand...Family Books Hotel Rooms for Vikes-Pack @ Lambeau?
This is Freaking Ridiculous but sounds so true..The Green Bay Post Gazette Reports
If Brett Favre
signs to play quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in the next week or two, his family and friends will be ready for his one game back in Green Bay.
About two months ago, a member of Favre’s inner circle blocked off 25 to 30 rooms at the Midway Motor Lodge near Lambeau Field for the weekend of the Vikings game against the Packers on Nov. 1.
Favre appears ready to sign with the Vikings relatively soon, contingent upon his throwing arm’s progress after recently having surgery on his injured shoulder. But friends and family members have been preparing for a while for his possible signing with the Vikings.
“They called and said if he goes to Minnesota they definitely want to be at
the game,” said Doug Warpinski, the Ashwaubenon hotel’s manager.
The group isn’t required to guarantee payment for the rooms until 45 days before the check-in date, so it can cancel the reservations in the next two months without financial penalty. Warpinski said Favre’s family and friends routinely stayed at the hotel for home games in Favre’s final five years with the Packers.

They are all idiots!

Now I've had it!
Some anti-Viking Bozo from Green Bay spreads this rumor to make more news and make us look stupid. Then Pecker fans hold up signs at the game advertising vacant rooms available.
Don’t sucker into this one Vikes fans.
The Midway Motor Lodge? Free breakfast and beer at Packer Petes Pub next door? This is the best Green Bay has to offer its high profile fans. Hope there are some rooms at the prestigious Red Carpet Inn left.
well it is green bay. what do you expect?

A decked out
old hotel on main street surrounded by drunken Cheeseheads munching on venison jerkey and beer cheese soup. :-)

Pardon Me but,
I don’t get it. Why are you guys so upset? How does this make Viking fans look stupid? Why are they all idiots? Please explain, I don’t consider myself to be that dumb, but what’s the big deal?
If I’m reading the article right, it’s to say that those close to Favre want to be at the game in Lame-bo. And that they are anticipating the reality of this thing. Which I’m sure needs to be brought home to a lot of delusional Packer fans who think this will never happen. how this gets turned into a slight is beyond me.
I'm with you...
I have no idea what’s wrong with this. Sure, it may be silly and kindof strange to link it to Brett Favre returning, but really, it’s Brett Favre; are you that surprised?
Anyway, it’s interesting in that non-football-will-he-or-won’t-he-sign kind of way.

Skol Vikings!
Woot Woot!
I'm not too excited about getting Favre.
but if we do it will be fun to count all the purple jerseys in lambeau that day.

Just saying
it could turn into a joke later. Didn’t mean to imply we will look stupid. More like the Green Bush fans will TRY to make it joke on us.
I couldn’t help but laugh tho. Most towns you would hear of bookings at the Shereton, Hilton or Radisson. In Green Bay you book at Mel’s Sleep Lodge. Just hit my funny bone.
This is an interesting piece of infromation.
But if I were the family of a guy who spent 18 years with a team, I would still be a fan and look forward to a great rivalry such as Packers-Vikings.
Heck, I would probably even block off a bunch of rooms so I could have a party.
Wait wait wait...
The headline for this story is “Favreapalooza is getting outta hand”? It’s been outta hand since the day Favre “retired” from the Jets, at least from a Vikings perspective. From the nation’s media’s perspective, it’s been outta hand for at least 3+ years.
Are you pro-Favre-to-the-Vikings people that convinced that he’ll be worth the constant distraction?

SB odds
I ‘ve said this before but I’ll say it again, here are my odds of the Vikings winning a Super Bowl:
with Favre: 1 in 4
with Sage: 1 in 10
with Jackson: 1 in 30
with Booty: no line
Just my opinion and I don’t have the bankroll to back it up.
1 in 4 with Favre? Wow. No. I’m all for bringing the guy in, but that is ridiculous. He’s not THAT good.
It’s not 4:1 only because of Favre. The rest of the team is looking pretty good as well. I think the offense is gonna be sweet. Harvin was a great final touch. Rice is gonna step up and be a solid #2. Shiancoe looked great at the end of last year (Imagine him with Favre who always hooks up with TEs). In fact, I’m stoked to see Mills come back. Then there are the obvious weapons that even the casual observer knows; Berrian,C. Taylor, and AD. Favre makes them all that much better.
The defense was tough last year, even with EJ Henderson. I expect them to be at least as good. The front 7 could rival any in the last 25 years for the Vikes.
This team is damn good, has an easy schedule (I think, you never know), and plays in the NFC (which does not have a team like PIT, NE, BAL). The road to the Super Bowl is one good QB performance away. Not great, just good.
I think you’re being a bit too optimistic here. Don’t get me wrong, I like all the Vikes players, but Rice REALLY needs to step it up to make it on the field as the #2. Wade is as consistant a WR we can ask for. I’m hoping Rice can surpass him, but it’s gonna be difficult I think. And I’m not too sold on Mills. The guy dropped a few key passes in the first couple games. And then he was a scratch pretty much the whole season. We’ll have to see if he improves. I wouldn’t count on it though. They’ll probably stick to Jimmy K and Shanker for TE.
I mean, yes, the schedule looks easy. I don’t think we’ll have trouble making the playoffs with Favre. But it’s getting to the SB after that. Teams get hot during the playoffs, as we saw last year with the Eagles who got in on a flukey victory and made it all to the NFC Championship. But who isn’t looking forward to a MN vs GB NFC Championship game? That would be beautiful. . . as long as Favre doesn’t end it like he did his last one.
I always think
1-4 as not being as easy at it sounds. You get to the NFC or AFC title game and in reality you have a 1 in 4 shot and it still isn’t easy. No matter how heavy you are favored you can toss the odds out the window when you are going for the big prize at 1-4.
Maybe Mex was thinking that route. With Favre playing at a healthy level getting to that title game would realisticly be 1-4, then it is 1-4 all over.
Not so far off. Now, that is if you have a BF that plays a full season like he did the 1st 8 games last year.
I agree with Frost, he is not that good anymore but a healthy Favre would be good enough with this team and make the above 1-4 scenario feasable.
2 mpnths and I’m in Minny for training camp and the 1st pre-seasopn game. I’m starting to itch for football.

Lots of Superstars get outta hand
I don’t think Favre means to be the way he is. Like Manny being Manny. Brett is being Brett.
You got the “showboats” like TO, Ochostinko, you had The Icky Shuffle, Broadway Joe and recently Jay Cutler. Teams with stars get attention. Thank God AP handles it all well.
Willingly or unwillingly, stars get the media attention. Some hate it, others flaunt it.
Am I ready to gamble on Favre- a month ago I wasn’t sure but now I am. Some of us claimed the Vikings get ignored by the media so if we have Favre sign I don’t think attention has to be a distraction. We’ll go about our business on the field and sure, the press will be there. Might not be a bad thing come free agency to have the Vikes in the media spotlight.
Remember when we went 15-1 and almost made the Super Bowl. Sure was fun seeing us get all the attention.
Newmexvike, I couldn’t agree more with your odds.
