What the hell is going on here? Is this a cover-up story for their Monday report of Chilly imposing a deadline on Favre? Something smells very fishy.

The Minnesota Vikings have at least temporarily suspended their pursuit of Brett Favre after the retired quarterback failed to report to organized team activities that began Tuesday as head coach Brad Childress had mandated, according to team and league sources.

An eventual agreement returning Favre to the NFL for a 19th season, this in a Vikings purple uniform, remains possible. According to sources, no timeframe has been discussed for the Vikings and Favre to reconsider their positions.

Stupid Chilly

This is all BS. Does Chilly seriously expect Favre to show up at OTA’s, what are you nuts? He just had surgery 2 weeks ago.

Actually, I don’t think Chilly’s the one embarrassing himself, here — ESPN is the one embarrassing itself by reporting one thing one day and backtracking the next. I’m betting they realized the deadline story was BS and needed to cover that up.

what does that even mean?

Suspend pursuit? What does that even mean? Weren’t we pretty much waiting for him to say his arm felt good? Aren’t we still doing that?

It means we can’t rip ESPN for being wrong about reporting a deadline of this week for Favre to decide he wants to play. ;)

Ok, Ok I get the ESPN cover up story.....

But doesn’t that kind of make Chilly look bad in this whole deal? And if they covered it up are they making it up that Rob Brzezinski called Bus Cook. If not, that would mean that the Vikings are in on it? What the hell is going on? The walls are closing in….

What the hell is going on?

You’re telling me :)

Admittedly, I don’t have a good explanation for Brzezinski calling Cook, but by saying the team “temporarily suspended” the pursuit of Favre, it reeks of a way for ESPN to avoid embarrassment when Favre isn’t in purple by the end of the week but still look correct when he signs in July.

I don't believe the report

First off, what does suspended mean? I guess the same could be said with extending Winfield’s contract. I don’t think it means much.

This latest report makes me question them all to a point though. You certainly cannot believe them all, it wouldn’t add up. I don’t think I’m gonna take any of it to heart until Favre, Childress, Spielman, or Wilf get up in front of a camera and make a direct statement about the status of this whole deal.

I still think it will go down. I think I’m walking away from this with, “they are in the contract portion of the process”.

think Ed Werder forgot the simple fact. That Favre isn’t obligated to show up at the OTA’s in Winter Park. Due to the fact he isn’t under contract. Someone at Bristol is covering up their tracks, after Kirwan called out Mort’s and Werder’s reports.

A + 10 to all comments here

I say we get someone to do a graphic of that little guy pissing on Chevy, Ford or whatever they hate. Have them do it on the ESPN logo and e mail it to their executives and producers every time they come up with another stupid tidbit to yank our chains with.
Don’t report another dang thing on Favre until he signs!
dsludo is right on the $ with his first comment. Vikes aren’t going to pay him big $ until they know if he has healed OK and I’m sure Favre doesn’t want to humiliate himself either.

I LOVE IT!

I can’t say enough about you computer wiz kids. Now I’ve got to have my 15 year old teach me how to copy this.
If anyone has time today can you find out some ESPN office e-mail address’?

Anthony, put this on a main page and if you get guff tell them I requested you do it.

Absolutely beautiful! This gives me a release for my pent up anger at BSPN

She got it for me

My little girl is so smart. So proud of her.
I will start sending graphic to my many Viking friends.
Be fun to bomb their e-mail boxes in Bristol.
We should all have the same topic title-suggestions?
