Any ideas of where we would rank if Favre ends up as a viking?? I am sorry wrote that wrong WHEN Favre becomes a viking. Obviously the addition of Favre will move us up the list but how much? If I had to guess I would say it would put us somewhere in the 13-20 range. Let me know what you guys think.

Future Rank, #20
When Favre signs, the Vikings move ahead of the Titans (and their youthful hero, Kerry Collins, age 36) and directly behind da newly Cutlerized Bears, all that is required to tip the balance in our favor.
The bad news for da Bears is that if Cutler goes down, they’re going to be telling us that Caleb Hanie will strike fear into our hearts. (Sure, and they call tell us they have a guy named Adrian Peterson, too.)
Number 20 is all we need. If you stack the box, Favre will slice, dice, and juilienne you easily in five minutes or less. If you do not stack the box, the running backs will bake, broil, and barbeque you in about ten minutes. As an experienced server, Favre will know just by looking at you whether you want to order from A or B.
Therefore, the basic defensive menu question is this: Would you rather have your toast fall onto the bar room floor with the buttered side down or up? (Either way, we’re going to make you eat dirt and die.)
The Bears have really been high on Caleb Hanie
at the back-up spot., but even the most optimistic fan knows that he is a complete unknown. He looked good in last preseason, but that was only aginst 3rd and 4th string defense. He should be getting plenty of playing time this offseason though, so we’ll see.
But, if the Bears do end up with only Hanie and Basenez (both undrafted) as the back-up QBs, it could get ugly if something happened.

He looked good in last preseason
Damn right, he did. Living in Illinois, I saw all the Bears preseason games last year, and Hanie looked great. Of course, everyone will say (and they are right) that it was against weak competition in a meaningless game, but at least he wasn’t looking bad.
I still agree that if Cutler goes down, the Bears are in some serious trouble, but Hanie could throw a good showing in, here and there (think Thigpen last year).
V-I-K-I-N-G-S! Skol Vikings, Let's Go!!
Lions were 4-0 last pre-season too.
Look how that turned out.

Yea
well if we’re gunna talk about Cutler going down howabout your man AP if he goes down your whole season is shot, no one is afraid of Favre anymore or T-Jack and especially not Sage Rosenfels. and just for stats the last six times the bears have played favre the numbers go 13 interceptions with 3 ran back for touchdowns, 2 TD passes by Favre, Four fumbles, two lost, a 5 and 1 record in the bears favor, the one we lost i think grossman threw 4 ints but we dont have to worry bout that anymore now do we.

Actually...
If AD goes down (god forbid) we still have Chester Taylor. The year he started, he had 1200 yards. Not exactly a doomed season.
If Cutler goes down, who is gonna replace him?
Bottom line: Vikings without AD > Bears without Cutler. No doubt about it.

agreed
but let’s steer clear of typing paragraph 1. I want the Ferrari not the Corvette.
But feel free to discuss the Bears driving around in their Yugo. I guess the Bears think the Yugo rides pretty smooth anyhow. And after all they are such great evaluators of QBs. Queue the audio blip of Lovie droning, “Rex Grossman is our starting quarterback.” That never gets old.
Grossman
It’s difficult to argue with Lovie, at least in the context of 2006 when Grossman had given the Bears 10 games with a passer rating of 80+ (7 100+ games, 1 game at 98.6, and two in the 80s…all wins)…plus they were 2-0 when his rating was in the 70s and 1-3 in the 4 games when he had a rating below 70. The real problem with Grossman is that he only posted an 80+ rating in 3 of 11 games since 2006.
Let’s hope that Florida players selected with the 22nd pick aren’t all alike.
Also
Consider that Tarvaris Jackson has only managed an 80+ rating in 11/23 games (plus 4 games in the 70s), and he’s only played at that level in 6.5 of his 16 games with 20+ passing attempts and 2.5 in the 70s (one game was rated at 79.9).
For review:
Grossman: 10/16 games rated at 80+; 12/16 rated at 70+ in 2006 and 14/26 rated at 80+ in career games with 20+ passing attempts.
T. Jackson: 6.5/16 games with 20+ passing attempts rated at 80+; 9/16 rated at 70+.
Grossman also had a higher rating in his only year as a primary starter (all 16 in 2006) compared to TJ’s only year as a primary starter (12 games in ’07).
Future Rank #13
I am a Farve guy. I think Farve alone would put them at #16, put the ratings are based upon the whole slate of QBs. Sage has shown he is a solid back-up, probably one of the best in the NFL and TJ gives some wildcat potential as well so I added a few spots for the slate of QB’s.

Future rank
I’d like to think in the top 10 with Favre because I think our offense would be pretty efficient. Peterson will have the better year, IMO. I’ve watched too many film on him and you have to admire his abilities. AP for MVP before Favre. If Favre does force teams to respect our passing game, or any QB for that matter, then Peterson will be getting Big gains consistently. If he can average 5.6+ ypc (For Peterson, attainable)
SKOL VIKES.
Future Rank - 8
Am I high? LOL.
Nope. But to think that Favre, even an aging Favre, is worse than McNabb, Delhomme, or Palmer, is drinkin’ da kool-aid. With solid back-ups in T-Jack (whom I think would otherwise break out in 2009, if Favre weren’t in front of him) and Rosenfels, I think the Vikings are solid at #8, just behind Peyton Manning.
Actually the Vikings should be #7, and the Cowboys should be dropped down to #8, behind them. Romo’s good, but he’s very erratic, and I don’t care how much ‘respect’ people have for Kitna, he was dumped by the Lions.
I say top 10
Just based on the fact that we are the deepest at QB in the league. Can anyone name a team that’s deeper? Another plus factor for us is that Favre knows this offense inside and out, Sage has been in a simular WCO for 8 years and TJack is going into his 4th year on the same offense. Where does Indy, NE, and the rest of the bunch stand if their starter goes down?
We all saw last year what happened when NE's starter went down
Sure some can say that it was all Cassel. But I truly think it was more because of the coaching. If Tom Brady went down again, I think NE will have another Cassel waiting in the wings

Kevin O'Connell (Or was it O'Connor)
is apparently ready to be this year’s Matt Cassel if need be.
Kevin O'Connell could easily end up being a great QB in the NFL.
He’s got the goods, and is patiently learning the game in one of the best systems in football.

3rd round pick out of SDSU in 2008.
6’5", 230lbs, can run like a deer, has a good arm, and is very intelligent. He may very well be the successor to Tom Brady, if he is willing to hold a clipboard for 3-4 more seasons.
If not, NE will undoubtedly get good value for O’Connell in a trade.

I agree Purple
I think it is the coaching and their offense. As a QB, the system that they run makes it much easier to succeed.

30 / 32?
That’s some bullshit. Who’s worse than us? The Lions and Raiders? The Bucs? What about the Browns? What about the Jets?
I didn’t look at the article, and I don’t want to, but I’m willing to bet we’re on the bottom because the person who made the list is giving rookies who haven’t even played yet a huuuuge vote of confidence. Personally, if a team is going to be starting a rookie, I think they logically should be near the bottom.
It’s actually a good article, even if they drew some wacked out conclusions where the Vikes are concerned. I like the fact that they evaluated all of the team’s QBs, not just the starter.
Behind the Vikes are the 49ers and Broncos, btw.
That’s ok, let them keep itup… the Vikes play best when they’re the underdogs.
favre is not more valueable then peyton and brady i dont care how good he used to be he cant do that any more hes to old and will retire for good after this season i hope we are better off with a good young QB that we will have for a couple of seasons
