1998 all over again?

Am I the only one seeing how this season is shaping up to look very similar to what ended up with the biggest disappointment in Vikings history. Yes, that season was an awesome, wild ride. Everyone thought that it was finally our turn, only to have our hopes dashed by a loss to the Falcons in the NFC Championship game.

Take a look at these disturbing similariaties:

Randall Cunningham pulled out of retirement because we had no good alternatives at QB. Today there is the almost certain signing of Brett Favre just around the corner.

Randy Moss, a very controversial player, drafted in first round to join an already great team of receivers. Ok, I know that Berrian in no Chris Carter and Rice is no Jake Reed, but we have some very good receivers on this team already. And now we draft Percy Harvin in the first round. Another controversial choice who's expactations are constantly being lowered by the fans and media alike.

We went into 1998 with one of the greatest running offenses and defenses in the NFL, um, yep same this time around.

The list goes on and on, I don't have time to write more, and you probably don't want to read much more. I would love to see a high scoring, dominant year. Unfortunately, if we end the season 14-2/15-1 I will definitely not bet on the Vikes in the conferance championship.
