Winfield deal almost done?

According to the guys at Access Vikings Antoine Winfield's agent, Ashanti Webb, is meeting with Vikings' staff to get the final details of a deal hammered out. They posted an article and then a quick update. Here is the update with a link to follow to the entire article:

NFL.com’s Steve Wyche reported that Winfield and Webb are expected to meet with Vikings officials this afternoon to complete a multiyear deal, according to a source. Wyche said there are still a few issues to iron out but nothing that is a deal-breaker.

If this is true, that's really, really good news. Everyone would be much happier with Winfield back manning the corner position. It's a nice bit of news not related to a certain subject.

Thank goodness

Not only is he a good player, it also makes the veteran guys on the team happy to see one of there own being taken care of. With everything else going on, this is a good development for a positive locker room

Yea i just saw that on NFL.COM

Good news for us. If we get him, we don’t have to draft a 1st round corner next year…

...add #4 to the mix and see what you get... Championship.

Even if he didn't sign

I think the Vikings would go DT 1st round next season. Pat Williams is getting old. He might be calling it quits after this season.

i’d rather see them take a cb or de (assuming all our de’s not named allen remain pedestrain). fred evans is a great replacement for pat and we lose something against the run but i think evans plays the pass better than pat.

I'm just not sold on Evans or any other DT we have

While I think Evans is a very good back up, I’m just not sure if he is anywhere near the level Pat Williams is. Although this does bring up a very good question. I think I might start a new fanpost for this topic! Should be interesting.

i agree. pat’s the man against the run. there is no better. but in reality he only plays about 20 snaps a game and evans plays the rest because pat wears out and evans is better against the pass.

I was really hoping that

it would be contingent on the “other” deal that is likely to be in place by July 31st.. With the state of the Bears DBs, I would have to think that they were keeping an eye on how this unfolds…

Time has come today

A little known author wrote that God invented time so that everything would not happen all at once.

First we sign all the players, then we kick the butt of everyone else in the NFL.

To every thing, there is a season.

i'll be glad when this is done
“He’s the No. 1 most underrated DB in the league, hands down,” Green Bay Packers receiver Greg Jennings

when a packer says this about a viking, he needs to be signed.
