The Vick Rumors Have Started

While I was browsing the web this morning through all the sports news I've noticed a ton of Vick to Vikings? rumors now that the Favre situation is through. Here's the links:

I’ve bashed Chilly a TON in the past, but even I don’t think he’s THAT stupid.

Is Vick willing to be a 3rd stringer?

I don’t think Vick could beat out Rosenfels or Jackson. IF the Vikes brought him in, he’d be in competition with Booty for the 3rd string spot.

Then Jackson without a doubt. They both share the same weaknesses (though Vick can read coverage better), and while they both share the same strengths Vick is superior to Jackson in both. Arm strength and scrambling. I don’t think he would beat out Sage though.

Vick's a better runner, not a better passer

He might beat T-Jack on his ability to read defenses, though. T-Jack has a stronger and more accurate arm than Vick ever had, but lacks Vick’s durability.

Vick couldn’t beat out Rosey, though.

And he couldn’t beat out AP, Taylor, or Harvin, for an RB position, although he might be able to take Tahi.

Eh

I wouldn’t say Jackson has a stronger arm. I’ve seen Vick throw the ball from one goaline to the other without taking a step. His arm strength is ridculous. Plus, Vick has always been able to make the deep throw, which is a threat you guys have with Berrian. I just recently saw that Vick’s all time completion % is like 54% though, and that is horrible. Though a lot of that could be Mora Jr. trying to use Vick as a pocket passer which he clearly was and is not.

Jackson hasn’t had a lot of time to set up the bombs, but the strength is definitely there. Half the time he throws the ball so hard I can barely see it in-transit, and that was one of his issues in year one (his throws were too hard). I never saw that with Vick, so I think Jackson has it in him if he’s given some time for receivers to get downfield, and allowed to call the play to begin with.

On Vick though… 2 years out of the game is a long, long time, even if he has been able to toss the pigskin with the prison team. It’s not the NFL, it won’t have anything remotely resembling NFL speed. Looking back at some other runners the Vikes have had (like Tark and Moon), they did most of their running in the first 5 years and after that it tapered quite a bit (going by QB rushing yards). It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Vick returns to the NFL and is now primarily a scrambling QB, or even just a pocket passer. That assumes that Vick still has it in him to play the position, which is by no means assured.

Vick would be interesting

We could put him, T-Jack and Harvin in the backfield and let defenses try to figure out who’s getting the snap and what they’re doing with it.

Awesome story about Urlacher and Cutler…I only wish it would would have been Devin Hester that said Cutler was a pussy…then Cutler would never throw to him and they’d really be hurting for recievers
