Percy not at camp....yet.
yep, our exciting and flashy rookie is not yet at camp due to the Vikings inability to hammer out a contract. I'm listening to KFAN right now and PA just had Rick Spielman on from Vikings Training Camp in Mankato. Spielman said that it's being worked on right now. Unfortunately, it is really best to have rookies there on day one of camp, but I think the chances are probably good that we will have it figured out to get him there tomorrow.
Here's to hoping this doesn't turn into a bigger thing than it already is!

Didn’t it take a long time to sign Russel to the Raiders a couple years ago? I hope that doesn’t happen with Harvin. It shouldn’t be that hard to sign him as the players taken in front and behind him in the draft have already been signed. Unless he’s trying to get more money saying that he would have been taken higher except for the positive drug test. If that’s the case, that would be ridiculous on Harvin’s part.

Hey Loki
I am pretty sure that he is waiting too see what kind of contract the 49’r is going to get. I was listening too the Eric Sillia(?) show on espn radio and they kind of made it sound that Harvin wants close if not more $$$$ than Crabtree is going too get. But thats just 1 guys opinion, reguardless if I like him it was just his opinion.
Yeah I was looking at a list today that showed all the first round picks and if they were signed or not and how much money they were getting. I saw too that Crabtree wasn’t signed yet….although Harvin has been signed now, but the money hasn’t been disclosed yet. I’m sure knowing how much crabtree was getting would have played into how much Harvin would have received, but it looks like they were able to reach a deal without knowing that information.

Ther is already rumors going around
about Percy not signing, here is what PFT had to say:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/31/harvin-has-childress-vikes-over-a-barrel/
unless Florio reports something from another place
I don’t take anything he writes seriously. It’s all just him guessing and majorly insinuating.
"The latest Brett Favre summer saga apparently has come to an end. The 39-year-old reportedly informed the Vikings on Tuesday that he will not come out of retirement for a 19th season."
The greatest news I've heard all year!

Really? I find him to be pretty accurate in his predictions.
That is, compared to people like Ed Werder and Judd Zulgad.

Yes...It Is Too Early Too Worry About It....
but I can just invision Harvin and his agent being really stubborn and not wanting to budge on this. Just a hunch…he could sign today for all I know and probably will

every day he misses drops my expectations for him for the season. training camp is vital. especially for rookies and most especially for qbs and wrs.
all players who drop in the draft try to get more (or i should say their agents do). hopefully he’s not being ridiculous and this will be dealt with this weekend.
if he misses more than a week of camp i’ll be writing him off for the season.

Someone on PFT said it best...
He is only holding out long enough for his system to be clean so he can pass his pre-training camp drug test.
lol!
that’d be more funny if it weren’t so plausible.

Hear me out.
If Harvin doesn’t wanna cooperate, let’s trade the rights to sign him. We don’t need him. Maybe trade him for a defensive tackle and a 2nd round draft choice. We have receivers. Berrian was awesome last year. This is Rice’s breakout year. Wade is still a great possession receiver. And Jaymar Johnson sounds great for a potential 3 or 4 receiver spot. Also there has been talk about Darius Reynaud being included in the Loki formation.
I definitely think we could use another DT to fill out for Pat Williams if he were to retire, or since he doesn’t have the ability to play many consecutive plays. I liked the idea of signing Jimmy Kennedy, but he didn’t impress me last year.
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

and you expected?? what?
This guy has head-case written all over him. I dont think I’d attempt a trade but I do agree with Gonzo2 that were a lot better off at WR than the media thinks & this kid may never pan out (just like every other draft pick in the NFL).
So far he has been better than other first round WRs.
The WR position attracts divas, people who are in it more for themselves than the team. Despite that fact, the only thing that Harvin has done to raise alarm was his positive test, and perhaps his illnesses should they be him playing hookie.
Anyhow, the point I am making is that people are too quick to label him a problem, even though we have nothing concrete that says he will be a problem.
Besides, if he is a problem, his on the field talents should be worth the bs.

You state that the only thing that Harvin has done is test positive right? What about being “sick” for A.C.’s rookie introduction to the NFL? Or How about he was injured for part of his Senior Year at FLA? I would say there is more than 1 red flag waving off of his head already. But Randy Moss had alot of issues prior to signing and getting into camp as well and we all see how he is still doing.
He was sick for the symposium. The NFL checked him out twice and sent him home twice, and anyone who says the NFL isn’t serious about enforcing their rules clearly hasn’t spoken with Pat and Kevin. Agents haggle, and make good money at it. As long as neither side is making outrageous statements to the press, the negotiations are probably progressing.

Well, I guess my mobile has a habit of resubmitting webpages when I reload my browser.

Is Harvin the next Dimitrius Underwood?

Negotiation
Both Harvin and his agent know that he can’t afford to miss much of the camp. And the Vikings have been signing players for quite a while now, they know how it’s done :) . I think it’s too early to worry about the situation, the media is probably freaked out that they’ve lost the Favre-Button to push and they’re just jabbing at anything within reach now.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
