House Hunters, Favre Edition
Apparently, Brett and Deanna Favre have put down a $30,000 deposit on a condo at 50th and France in Edina.

But why would Brett Favre buy a house in Minnesota?
"He didn’t call me or anything. It was an accident, but a lot of people would have called to see how someone is doing after they got hit in the head. Especially if they had to go on the DL." — Morneau on pitcher Ron Villone after an April 2005 beaning.

Exactly. Makes no sense.
In AP I trust
Just say no to Favre.

Maybe it's a "statement"
of commitment, seriousness … whatever.
Or maybe the story is just BS, like most of the stories surrounding this buildup. Someone sold their house to a chick that had hair as dark as Deanna Favre and … the game of telephone commences.

At least it's a condo.
Easier to sell, right? In theory? Plus, when you have that much money, who the eff cares if you have another house in Minnesota. Maybe he’ll just blow it up when he’s done, or something.

Actually both townhouses and condos are harder to sell these days. Where I live there is a large surplus of condos and townhouses compared to single family residences. Plus condos don’t appreciate as well as single family houses, so there is a percentage that even if they wanted to sell, they couldn’t afford to sell since after paying a realtor a lot of them would have to bring money to the table.
That being said, a condo previously owned by Brett Favre likely would have no problem selling.

working in the commercial lending department of a bank
I’m watching condo developers go bankrupt left and right. I know, it’s a market-wide thing, but condos are not selling AT ALL in my area (Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin).
Anyway, I’m sure the Fah-vra’s are not all that concerned with resale value. Brett can just throw on some “comfortable jeans” and play another game of pigskin with his blue-collar buddies to help make up the financial difference.

Most interesting football player in the world
He once had an underappreciating condo, just to feel what it was like to owe more than it was worth.

50th and France is a business district????
by dsludo on Jul 6, 2009 4:02 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Yes...
50th and France in Edina is a business district, but the story actually says that the condo is “near” 50th and France. But that doesn’t mean much considering that the Edina Country Club is also “near” 50th and France.

I don't think he is that dumb
He probobly got a deal on the place. He puts up there, flys the family in for the weekend so his kid can still go to school in MS and it is near the airport. Makes sense.
Don’t know if it meant much , but on Favre’s espn fantasy player bio I believe it said something about him searching for digs in Minn. as he is expected to sign this week.
Then again, that is a BSPN story. If the story of the condo is true it would make sense the announcement is coming. Hopefully after they lay McNair to rest. Be insulting, in my opinion, to make the headline of a signing at this time.

As I was walking through the Minneapolis airport yesterday, I stopped in a Mall of America shop in there. I was perusing the Viking stuff (settling on a Jared Allen jersey) and the gal told me that they were expecting the Brett Favre jerseys to hit any day. See seemed to be about as bright as night, so I took it with a grain of salt. Still, I don’t expect it will be long before the announcement is made.

Ha ha.
I’d expect her knowledge of the Minnesota Vikings to extend just about as far as the employees of Best Buy’s knowledge of electronics goes. That is, not very far.
I mean, why know about what you’re trying to sell?

Where do people get this info?
Are they calling every realtor in town? Hanging out at the county courthouse checking for real estate filings?

Apparently, there is this little birdie that flies around and tells people things about Bret Favre. Strangest phenomenon I have ever heard of, yet you don’t see that story anywhere in the news…

If his arm is good to go, he'll be in Minny for 2 yrs.
Besides, buying a place in Minneapolis will also twist that knife just a little bit deeper in the souls of the cheese heads!!
