Madden '10 ratings released
Has anyone seen these yet? E.J. Henderson an 80? You rate a linebacker that can fly an 80? What is this world coming to? See for yourself on ESPN's website. I have a ways to go to reach the 75 word minimum so, I'll just use as many words as possible to in this particular run on sentence to see if I can get up to the 75 word minimum

yeah
I voiced my opinion on this in an earlier thread. I understand that they are revamping the rating process, but EJ at an 80 in a straight-up JOKE.

Yep
I thought the whole LB core got the shaft. Leber is not a 66 under any system…
Plus, by the look of the QBs (absent the man who shall not be mentioned), it looks like I may be looking to Longwell or Kluwe to line up under center this year…
Purple is the new black.

Good.
+1
The ratings are bogus from the old maddens. Sim through 10 seasons and see how good those top draft picks get. You’ll be lucky to have a 94. Then there’s like ten 99 (payton, tom brady) when you start. Hopefully they make it realistic. I hate going into a draft and there’s linebackers running a 4.34 40. They need to make players with lower overall’s and skills, so when someone amazing comes along they actually make a difference on a team.

Yea, but the LB’s that run the 4.34 40 rarely equate to faster than 88 speed and usually have poor acceleration.
I am not a huge fan of large discrepancies in talent. Remember how difficult it was to play against the Vikings when they had Randy Moss?
You could be ahead by 3 TD’s late in the game and all it took was three bombs to Moss and he would somehow jump between 3 defenders and make the catch. You couldn’t put enough people on him, which is part of the reason they evened out the ratings a bit.

Thing is...
You can do that now too. I have Santana Moss, and I can just bomb to him every play. All you need is a fast receiver. I don’t like doing it, but every now and then when I get frustrated I just bomb it, and it works almost every time.

Just say no to Favre.

Maybe because, in reality, if you have the fastest guy downfield and he’s running full-tilt ahead of the defenders, and the QB can hang the ball out in front, it’s a done deal? I know it sounds so simplistic, but I can’t begin to count how many times I did that when I was playing. The only questions were, could I get the ball there, and could my receiver catch it. Having a super-fast freak at WR is a game-breaker.

I hate it though, because it’s unrealistic. ;)

Farva, that’s what I mean, lol! It’s totally realistic, I’ve never played Madden in my life, I’m talking about real football. If you have the fastest guy downfield and he gets ahead of his coverage, there’s nothing to stop him if the ball connects. Nothing. Done it many, many times, all it requires is a lot of practice time between QB and WR so that the QB learns to gauge the WRs speed.
Now having that WR go up for the ball in traffic is another matter entirely. Moss was so amazing not just because of his speed and reach, but he could jump too. The complete package.

Troy Williamson anyone? That Denver game comes to mind right away. 15 yards away from anyone. Ball even hit him in the hands.

LOL! He’s a very special case, thankfully. I don’t understand how the guy can have stone hands like that, year after year, and stay in the NFL…

Even madden knows how bad our QB's are!!!
69 and 67?! That wouldn’t even be on my madden team! Yet, many vikings fans fight the idea of a MVP hall of fame QB playing for us… what a shame!

Macdaddy...
I agree on so many levels….
Lower Deck Tickets on 50 yard line behind Vikings bench = $119.00
Parking by the Metrodome = $25.00
Souvenir Soda = $6.50
Being there for 296 = Priceless

FarvaForTheVikings… you’ve always been a hater in my eyes. We need Favre so bad.

Sorry to disappoint ya' buddy.
Favre is the only thing I hate. So when it comes to Favre, yes, I’m a hater. Other than that, the only things I hate on are haters, you dig?
If it makes you feel better, I have no ill feelings toward you. Even though you call me names. It’s all good.

I really
have to say I hate what they’ve done with the ratings this year. I can only imagine what they’ll rate Favre once he comes in. My guess, is because they’re being so harsh, a 75?
by PurpleEaters on Jul 10, 2009 1:48 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
You hate the ratings?
I for one love them. I don’t necessarily agree with all of them, but I do like the fact that now the truly superstar players will be just that, superstars. Before, everyone else was so similar that it didn’t really matter who was going against who. Now, you will truly have to gameplan against the elite players, and I for one am looking forward to it.

It's
not just that, I guess it’s like just annoying to me to see the Vikings underrated linebacking corp to be like an 80 at best, and that’s like Ej’s rating. I guess it makes gameplay more realistic in some aspects, I just wish the Vikings would have received better ratings. Not to mention rookies, like Stafford and Sanchez who have never played a snap in the NFL get better ratings than do the experienced players on the team.

Man a 75?!
What was he on 09? I know you could get him on the Jets without him being a Hall of famer… I would guess Favre would have to a high 80…

He was like a 92 at his highest
That was after they updated it around like week 10 or 11. I’m sure he dropped after the last update.

Dropped to an 88
in the last update. Which will probably be around a 78 if/when he joins our roster.
by Frost on Jul 11, 2009 10:35 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Good guess
I think right around 80 is what he would be. Give or take 2 ratings.

Greenway > Henderson?
Whoever did these ratings is a moron. Don’t get me wrong, Greenway is a good player; but having him ranked higher than E.J. is just silly.
by Loki The Viking God on Jul 15, 2009 3:21 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Agreed
But that’s probably because EJ is coming off injury. Barnett was having a pro bowl type season, and got injured, and this year he is only rated a 84. EJ and Barnett both should definitely be around 90.
