Report: T-Jack Suffers MCL Sprain
Tarvaris Jackson tripped over defensive tackle Letroy Guion during a drill this morning and was attended to on the field for several minutes before exiting the field under his own power.
We have yet to receive official word on the extent of his injury, but a source told Pro Football Talk that Jackson suffered a grade I MCL sprain. I found this page through a quick Google search, which states that most athletes with grade I sprains miss 1-2 weeks of play. If T-Jack's injury is more serious, he would likely miss several weeks.
Either way, this is very disappointing news -- we're not even two days into the quarterback competition and one of the guys has already been sidelined on a day-to-day basis, at the very least.
Guion couldn't explain what on earth happened:
"We were just in the heat of the moment," Guion said. "I really don’t know what happened. Everything was moving so fast I don’t know what happened."
Needless to say, the guys were not supposed to make contact with T-Jack during this drill so something obviously went very wrong. And as a result, the quarterback competition has stumbled out of the gate.

It is all an
elaborate hoax to give legit reason for Favre to skip training camp. Sorry, had to say HIS name.
In all seriousness- Zero Favre, Percy Holdout, T Jack done for camp….this has the stirring rumbles of a hideous season written all over it.

Unless you have Turrets syndrome, please don’t blurt out names like that.

Man, I would hate to see the side effects of turret’s syndrom. All of a sudden a machine gun pops out of your mouth.

Actually
That would be kind of bad-ass.
Awkward at parties, sure. . .but still bad-ass.

I fail to see what’s funny about one of our quarterbacks getting injured.
In AP I trust
Just say no to Favre.

Not a problem at all...
… now our back ups get more time with the first teamers in case the injury prone Jackson gets hurt in the regular season.

Damn...
If the rosencopter wins the starting job I will be sooo pissed.

Oh he will most like be winning the starting job

Well he is not doing a good job of it considering he is struggling to adjust to our offense. I think Tom Looney was talking yesterday about how it takes a few years for qb’s to adjust to a west coast offense.

This might work out
Start the season with Sage, give him all the reps going forward. T-Jack can sit on the bench and focus on learning. If Sage doesn’t look good after 6 weeks, you think about making a switch.
I’ll be very interested to see how Sage does in the preseason and who will become his favorite targets. In 2 weeks he gets to face the Colts, again. Don’t be afraid to hand it off once in a while Sage.

Grounding the Sagecopter
I agree, plus I think it would help Sage greatly to STAY GROUNDED vs. the Colts.
The good ol’ Rosencopter play was on (and rewound and played several times over again) ESPN or ESPN2 earlier today. Good times, as long as it never happens again.

I tore my MCL earlier this year and kept running on it for two weeks before I saw a doctor.
I was on crutches for a month, but that’s only because I didn’t tell anyone about it for 14 days. T-Jack will be back in two weeks or so, like it or not. It’s not that big of a deal.

THat is the problem
T Jack missed camp early last year and absolutely sucked hot ass for the GB game opening night. Bottome line: T Jack is not intelligent to say it nicely and needs absolutely every rep we can throw at him. 2 weeks= preseason.

2 weeks for a torn MCL
however he only has a minor sprain. He could wear a brace and continue doing light work on it while it heals with no problems at all.

two things will happen
1). T-jack will be fine
2). Guion will be running additional sprints as punishment for hurting the guy in the red jersey

Jackson will be fine
Just 2 or 3 years ago Darren Sharper played through a 2nd degree MCL sprain I believe, not missing any time. I would expect Jackson to miss a few days at most before returning with a brace for at least the remainder of the preseason. He should be fully recovered and brace free with time to spare for Cleveland.

I think they should just make it mandatory that a QB wear a knee brace during practice.

The good news
is that Sage needs the reps much more than Tarvaris does anyway. He needs to get his timing down and learn his receivers. If our previous Childress seasons are any indication we’re gonna need both of these guys down the stretch so we may as well make sure the new guy is up to speed.

Camp Observations: Saturday
1: TJack, in early drills, had the most zip on the ball compared to Booty or Sage. Sage, in person, looked wobbly and unsure of himself in my view a number of times. Chalk it up to learning the system and thinking instead of reacting, thus far.
2: There was a cluster….well, you know…at the line at the time TJizzle went down. He just got caught in a fat-bodied whirlwind. It didn’t look that bad until he didn’t pop up right away. He looked hurt as he gingerly made his way off the field. Hopefully it’s not serious.
3: Loadholt is MASSIVE. Huge. Monstrous. Gigantic. Any adjective you can think of for a guy that is enormous, he fits the bill. Moves pretty well for a guy that size. Stands a head taller and wider than everyone but McKinnie. Looks like a Vet. Excited to see him in game action holding down that right side.
4: Zygi Wilf is a strange cat. During QB drills, he was mimicking the footwork of the QB’s as if to say…“if worse comes to worse, I could do this sh*t…” From the fans around us perspectives, they thought he was dancing a weird little jig. But he was copying the QB footwork drills. Amusing.
5: Adrian is a beast. In case you didn’t know that by now. He looks fast, strong, sharp, and even in drills looks like he’s moving in fast-motion timelapse speed.
6: Crisp, chilly windy day down on the practice fields at MSU. Smell of fresh cut grass, whistles and bullhorns. The sound of sleds being pummeled by linemen, and cheers for nicely completed passes from the fans. Football is Back, Baby, and this Toker couldn’t be happier.
More to come later in the week….

Here in Windsor, Ontario (5min from Detroit) wishing I was there.
I should take a weeks vacation and drive there (only 10hrs.) and see some of this. Next year I’ll crack the whip.
T.Jack seems to be more comfortable, do you think he will be the starter? I see this as his job to lose.

all they have is a prayer
vikings are doomed this year. favre was your only hope. he would definately be the glue that made your team a contender. peterson is another sanders, but even the greatest rb of all time couldnt bring the lions a superbowl ring by himself. good luck. by the way, my buccaneers by the numbers dont have the experience to be contenders neither. but i see youth, talent, as their only chance to success. i dont know much about the vikings roster but they probably have youth and talent too that hasnt been proven yet. good luck on the season, hope favre comes to the team to make it exciting

Barry Sanders is not the greatest RB of all time and...
The Vikings have a great defense. If not for horrible special teams they would have been in the top 3 in least points allowed and went 12-4 last year. With the addition of Phil Loadholt at RT (6’8, 350lbs) and Percy Harvin the Vikes immediatly got better on offense.
The Bucs are going to be mediocre at best this year. Way to go in firing John Gruden, one of the best coaches in the NFL. Good job letting go of Garcia too, he is still better than anything the Bucs have now. If it doesn’t work out with Childress I’ll take Gruden as the Vikings next head coach.
We do not need Favre. He stayed away b/c he was pretty sure he wouldn’t make it the whole season, so the Vikes are better off. I’m not saying he is great, but if T.Jack is so terrible how did he throw 4tds to 0ints against the NFC represented Cardinals in week 15? There is some potential there and Sage as backup plan.
Bernard, Percy and AP oh my!

Gruden is not a good coach
He won a superbowl with TOny Dungy’s team. Don’t want him on the Vikings
