Comparing Herb's and TJacks performance...........

from the Indy game is (sorry if this offends you) retarded. I see a lot of this going on in cyberspace.

First of all, I am an admitted TJack fan, and want him to do well, but I want who ever gives the Purple the best chance of winning first and foremost. Herb looked solid, no doubt about that and I was glad to see it. With that said comparing his performance with TJacks is not apples to oranges, it's closer to apples to sushi!

Tarvaris had the 'luxury' of playing with the likes of: Ian Johnson, Nick Moore, Brian Daniels, Chris Clark and a bunch of other players that most likely won't be on the team come the start of the regular season.

Let's see how he looks when he has the benefit of actual 1st teamers blocking, running and catching for him. I'm guessing he looks A LOT better this friday and Herb doesn't look as solid as he did in Indy.

Just saying!

I still think..

T-jack will do better..but still wont put up the numbers Sage did in Indy. I see Sage doing well again..and he should take the job..unless Favre some how comes on.. :-0

Really?

Tjack put up better numbers last year in the preseason against a better pass defense. So how do you figure he won’t put up the numbers Sage did? You do realize that Indy wasn’t playing their starting secondary, right?

Let’s not get too high on Sage here.

More of a reason to feel dissapointed with T-Jack. If he was anywhere close to starting QB worthiness, he would have torn apart the Colts D. He didn’t. He played awful. Very discouraging. I am guessing that this Friday is his last chance to show he doesn’t suck.

It has nothing to do with disappointment in Tjack.

It has everything to do with people falling in love with Sage after 1 quarter of play.

The guy has been a backup his entire career, including on teams with worse QB play than we had in the last few years.

Sure, he could end up being the answer to our prayers. But let’s not label him the starter based on 1 quarter of preseason play against 2nd-string coverage.

it’s not based on 1 quarter of preseason play. He got a bunch of starts last year. Despite the copter incident and meltdowns I’d still take him over T-Jack. And the reason is that T-Jack flat out sucks and I really have no interest watching him get thrown around like a rag doll for another season.

Curious you would come to that conclusion

Since Jackson in the same number of starts put up better numbers than Herb.

VikeGuru is a doofus!!

Being a professed Tjack fan myself, I still root for whoever gives the team the best chance to win.

I am a Vikings fan first, and want to win games more than I want Tjack to succeed.

That said, it was the FIRST effing preseason game and people are already sucking on Sage’s satchel.

Let’s do what NFL head coaches do and make their decision based on a complete body of work.

Although TJack was playing with backups, he was also plyaing against backups. Also, much of TJack’s bad performance can’t be blamed on the people surrounding him, just himself.

exactly

If the guy was a worthy starting QB he shouldnt have had the following problems:

1. dropped the ball right out of his throwing hand with no one touching him
2. Multiple overthrown balls not under pressure
3. Only 3 points scored in two quarters of football against back ups

Right now i am impartial but after seeing Rosenfool’s performance compared to other qb’s i have to say i was pleasantly shocked. It’s T-whacks turn.

coaches film will decide this battle.

This is my second posting its great to see so many ardent viking fans. Now to my point coach chilly has said he wants to see his starting Quarter back take command and consistently run the offense.example,1 taking what the defense gives you, making big plays when they are there, but keeping the chains moving when they are not, limiting turnovers and putting points on the board. myself i don’t care which one wins the job i just want one of them to get the job done and get my favorite team since 1969 the MINNESOTA VIKINGS back to the super bowl and win this time,

Loki...

U hit the nail on the head..does not matter who he was throwing to…He could not hit them..His only 2 completions in 1st half (2-8) 9 yds, were to Young out of backfield…

That’s not true. At the pro-level virtually every pass is a timing pass. You’re looking for the guy to cut at a precise point on the field and be at his spot specifically on time. It means “everything” who he was passing to, and is a huge advantage in Sage’s case that he got to pass to the guys T-Jack knows best.

lets wait and see....

we’ll see how tj does this week with the 1st team. now, my question is: should tj only play less than 1 qrt like sage did, & sage play 2 1/2 qrts like tj did? i do have to (somewhat) disagree with you on one point though. i don’t see how it was a HUGE advantage for sage to throw to tj"s favorite receivers when sage has only been with the team for a short time? they have had the same amount of time with the receivers this year.

Sage played for a quarter because he rolled his ankle. That is why he hasn’t been practicing since the game. If you can’t see the advantage of playing with the first stringers vs playing with the 2nd and 3rd stringers, not sure there is any explanation that would help.

thanks

for the info on why sage only played a short time. as far as what i stated regarding the receivers, i fully understand the advantage of playing 1st string vs 2nd string, but i was comparing the qb situation as it was reffered to by anthony carter. this was sage’s 1st game action playing with ANY of the vikes receivers, so he has to learn the timing of each guy no matter who it is, just as tj has to learn the NEW guys on the team. thank you for replying to my post. i love reading the dn & getting to discuss things with viking fans.

I think the reason Sage played 1 quarter and Tjack played more was because that’s how long it took TJack to get as many pass attempts as Sage. Sage was able to put together two long drives and had 13 pass attempts. It took TJack 6 drives to get to 15 pass attempts. Chilli said he wanted them to have an equal amount of reps.

The table is set will t jack feast or fumble?

Lets compare SAGE gets to start ON THE ROAD against the COLTS that last season went 12-4 with the 11th ranked defense minus their starting secondary he goes 5/5 on the first drive, and ends up 10/13 for 91 yards. NOW T JACK gets to start AT HOME against the CHIEFS that went 2-14 last season with the31rst ranked defense talk about APPLE’S AND SUSHI i sure hope T JACK can do as well as SAGE did or even better. just saying
