i officially hate the season already

Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.

I’m going to develop some sort of psychological disease. My mind won’t be able to take the strain of loving the Vikings, but hating Favre. But Favre is a Vikings, so I have to love him, right?… AAAUUGGGH!!!

I JUST SAW ON ESPN

This yes, no, yes, no is getting on my nerves… Part of me wants him, cause gives us a great chance to win Superbowl… Other part of me really believes in being a team player, and him not going to camp, is not being a team player…

by WVVikings on Aug 18, 2009 10:19 AM CDT reply actions

I just heard it...

Paul Allen is talking about it now on KFAN. The Vikings Jet left Mississippi about an hour ago. He is expected to sign a contract today.

Personal note...

As to my post yesterday about recording games and not listening to the sports news, I was listening to a California news talk station when they broke in and said he was on his way to Minnesota. HE IS EVERYWHERE! But I’m glad IF its true.

Disappointed

Miami? LOL. If Favre is the QB I guarantee the Vikes will miss the playoffs.

And the "story" on ESPN is...

A source close to Brett Favre said the quarterback, pending a physical, will sign a contract with the Minnesota Vikings for between $10 million to $12 million, according to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

That’s it.

It’s still their front page article though.

just going a little overboard now?

Oh yeah

It went overboard a while ago. This is the entire crew of the ship diving into the water to rescue the person who went overboard.

We've been juggling QBs since Childress came to town

Our options have generally been between “suck” and “blow”. This year the options look better. Honestly, I think that if this is the case, T-Jack’s heading to the practice squad.

I wonder if Rosenfel's injury was a factor?

It’s not publicly known what type or severity the injury was, is it?

May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.

Visiting Bears Fan wonders

I pop in to check on you guys every once in a while, but have never had reason to post here til now.

How many of you are concerned that he, primarily, want to play against the Packers? Are you concerned that he’ll play to that, and if he gets that win (and the distinction to have beaten every team) that he might pack it in? I’ve always wondered if that wasn’t a primary motivation for him, since he’s somewhat proven himself to be in it for himself.

If he’s healthy, and he plays, you guys could be monsters. But if he packs it in on you and stunts your growth, you’re going to be stuck.

Like I said, I’m not here to flamebait or troll, just looking for some Vike fan opinions, as I don’t know anyone personally who is one.

by KDoggers on Aug 18, 2009 10:43 AM CDT reply actions

I'm guessing

the contract is primarily incentive based and that Wilf and Chilly have already ‘’had that talk’‘. But weather Brett cares or not is obviously beyond anyone’s guess.

by Jepp The Viking on Aug 18, 2009 10:45 AM CDT up reply actions

I’m sure if you ask any player why they play (aside from the money), it’s for the Lombardi. I think Brett still wants one, and while I think he’ll turn it up against Green Bay, he won’t pack it in afterwards.

strike one

replace it with “another”

by Robert Rence on Aug 18, 2009 10:49 AM CDT up reply actions

I think he wants two things….to stick it to the packers…and to get another ring….so no, I don’t think he’ll pack it in after beating the pack twice this year =)

by Loki The Viking God on Aug 18, 2009 10:48 AM CDT up reply actions

unfortunately, his failing body will pack it in for him. why does everyone keep using the word pack about him? bad omen if you ask me.

Thank god its finally over. Favre welcome!!! And I hope you become the first qb in nfl history to beat all 32 NFL teams.

by dsludo on Aug 18, 2009 10:43 AM CDT reply actions

guys relax wow

I know this has been absolutely ridiculous as back and forth it is, but do you wana sit and wonder what this team could have been with him, as we’re 1-5 with Rosenfels and Jackson switching off and seeing who can suck more at QB, than at least find out what we can be with a real QB? It might not be what we’re hoping but you know what at least now we will know and not sit and wonder

by Cody_3_twins on Aug 18, 2009 10:49 AM CDT reply actions

Well, to be fair

I think Jackson can take sucking to whole new levels, though I’ve seen Rosenfels blow games in a pretty spectacular fashion.

by KDoggers on Aug 18, 2009 10:51 AM CDT up reply actions

So has Favre.

We're screwed

for the next 5 years in the locker room now. Here in AK i’m hoping Chilly gets fired after a train wreck in the post-season, and we bring in somebody who actually is a coach and can actually know about this little thing called “the game clock”.

Once everyone comes to peace with the fact that he dind’t want to go to training camp, I think those same people will also realize that Favre could walk in week 1 and do 10 times better than dumb and dumber…(and I’m a huge Sage fan)

by FarvaForTheVikings on Aug 18, 2009 12:13 PM CDT up reply actions

considering no one has thrown more ints than ‘genital wart’, and he’s 40, and he’s steadily declined over the last 5 seasons, and he knows and admitted that he’s unsure he can even play a full season, and he’s bailed on training camp, and did i meantion he’s 40 and no one has ever thrown more ints than him?

i’d have to say yes, i do think favre will throw more ints than tjack or sage (possibly more than tjack and sage).

Well, from a Dolphins fan, I offer my sympathies.

We had to hear this crap all offseason and during the season last year when he went to the Jets. Even though he started off well, he gassed out in the last 1/3 of the season and blew the playoff spot. I’m betting that you will probably start off hot, but don’t be surprised to find yourselves struggling to keep a playoff spot near the end of the season due to Favre’s inconsistancies.
