My biggest concern!
All along I have worried that once we signed Favre he would bring with him the baggage from the Jets about not being a team guy. I was reluctantly resigned to having him don Purple this year but thought, by all means, if he did he would come back during training camp to show this team that he's ready to be a committed locker room guy. We already know he has world class calibre. But, now, WTF? Seriously? There will be no way for him to escape the perception (in the locker room, of all places!) that this is a guy who felt he didn't have to go through the trenches with his teammates. I've always tried to avoid thinking in prima dona terms about Favre, believing he did a relatively good job of staying out of the media fray this year, despite the amount of attention he received. But, now, I don't believe there's any other excuse I will believe. It wasn't his shoulder, we know. And, now, indeed, it probably wasn't his knees or ankles. Brett Favre waited until now to make his decision so that he didn't have to do what was expected of every other player on the team besides him, to attend training camp. I'm not happy at all with this and believe that we should not accept this as an organization--even if he gives us a better chance to win (hypothetically). This crap (I would bet) has done real damage to our solidarity.

I think that stuff is overrated
The first time he zips a 50 yard pass to Berrian, everyone forgets that stuff. As much as I and we have hated him all these years, Brett’s a fun, charismatic guy and he only helps this team.
What about...
… the first time he forces a bad throw into double coverage?
… the first time he throws a game-ending TAINT (Bill Simmon’s reference)?
… the first time we get a report about Favre’s attitude creating locker room grumbling?
… the first time after the season that he says, “I’m not sure if I can hang it up yet. I know I can still play. My arm feels good. I’m throwing the ball well. But I’ve been doing for this a long time, you know? Maybe it’s time to hang it up and go home to mow the lawn. Sit at home with my wife. Play with the kids at the local high school. Ride off into the retirement sunset. But then again… I also love football. I just love playing football. There’s nothing better than throwing the ol’ pigskin around. I’m all about football. It’s not about the money. It’s not about the attention. I just love football. So, am I going to retire? I don’t know. Maybe. Maybe in June I’ll talk to Brad about it, but I don’t think I’ll be ready then. Maybe in July. I’ll have a serious conversation with Mr. Wilf, and we’ll talk about my options. I’m not sure. But I’ll definitely let the team know before training camp this time. I’d hate to put them through all that drama and media attention again.”
And so on.

EXACTLY.
"Call it the three B's. What a Blatant, Brazen and Brilliant ploy to skip training camp and still be given the reins to a Super Bowl-caliber team." - Kevin Seifert
Brett Favre proves he is a total piece of garbage.

Big difference
I’m not sure about the veteran leadership on the Jets, but when’s the last time Favre’s been on a team with as dominant veteran leadership as the Vikings? Winfield, PWill, Hutchinson, even Jared Allen, Chester, Bobby, AD, and EJ. Those first three guys pretty much set the tone of the team, though. The one guy I miss right now is Matt Birk—never afraid to speak his mind and point out what needs to be said. Hopefully Winfield can take up that role now that Matty B is gone.
Back to my original point, though—I think the locker room will go however those first three vets want it to go, meaning if they are willing to accept the situation and Favre for what it is, then everything will be alright. Perhaps they’ll give him a good razzing about it and just get it out there and over with. I have to believe that Favre wants to be here with these guys far more than he wanted to be in NY. Don’t underestimate that aspect of it.

Bobby Wade is a veteran leader? That guy blows! You lose all credibility for that statement.
AD Adrian Peterson is a veteran leader? He has been in the league 2 years!
Funny that you said Bobby. Still laughing
He’s been one of our most consistent receivers. He hardly blows. He may be only average talent-wise, but he works hard and does his job.

Charles Woodson is the happiest person on earth right now.

I lose credibility...
…for recognizing that Bobby Wade is a good locker room presence? What is this, a Strib board?
I also realize that AD is only going into his third year, but who else leads that offense and establishes its identity—I already mentioned Hutch, and apparently Bobby Wade doesn’t count. Berrian? McKinnie? Those guys are too quiet (like KWill). Shank? Chester? Maybe. AD is the best player on offense (and probably the whole team), and even with Favre here it’s still the Adrian Peterson show. That makes him a leader.
It’s like calling into question whether or not Chris Paul is the leader of the Hornets because he’s only 24 (and only 2 months younger than AD). Ridiculous.

If it’s third down and we need to pass a first…i’m hoping they throw it to Bobby with his sure hands….like Farva said, he hardly blows

Wins baby, it about wins
As long as the team is winning, everybody will go along. Even when the jets were winning the players were happy, and jets players had almost nothing to do with recruiting Brett.

It's a done deal!
Yes – he skipped camp; yes-he will throw more than a few INTs; yes-he’ll get sacked—SO WHAT! If he only plays to the level he played last year with the Jets, we’ll be an improved team over last year. His leadership on the field in that key position will more than make up for a couple of weeks of skipped camp. Just hope he stays healthy enough through the remaining pre-season to even make it to the regular season. Last thing we need is for him to get banged up.
I predict
Favre has a lower sacked per play ratio than Tarvaris does this year. Quick release vs. deer in headlights—the ultimate smackdown! (Ok, not really, but you get my point).
"Come on Eddie, let's get serious."
Blech
Worry about how we’ll do on the field, the team doesn’t get any points for singing ‘Kumbayah’ together in the locker room. Might as well worry about who’s sitting with whom at the cafeteria.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
