AP Has Some Explaining to Do!!
Ok somebody has to hep me out... What is the black stuff on Adrian Peterson's jersey? I have noticed it for the last couple of years. This is something that is on his jersey EVERY game, indoors or outdoors it does not matter. I asked this question during the Friday night preseason game and I didnt get any responses. One member had a good idea of posing a picture, so here ya go.
Hopefully someone can help me out.

It looks like he's using old fashioned eye black in the photo instead of the tape used by many.
If so, maybe he touches his face, gets it on his hands/gloves, and then later tugs on his jersey front to adjust his shoulder pads like many players do.
Or it could be Stickum (or some similar substance) and dirt, but I sort of doubt that.

To me, it looks like a combination of a few different things.
Eye black is certainly part of it; but I am sure it is helmet, facemask, gloves and other things that bounce off AP as well.
If he has gloves with black grip, that would be part of it as well. The softer the grip on the glove, the easier it rubs off.

I think it's just the jersey wearing off. . .
he takes so many hits, maybe not considering that it’s a preseason game, but Percy Harvin has the same thing goin’ on.
Paint from helmets and facemasks rubs off pretty easily.

I dont think so
1. “Paint from helmets and face masks rubs off pretty easily”
If you watch the games AP has the suspicious black stuff on during warm-ups.
2. “Maybe he’s superstitious and never washes his jersey ala Rocky and his sweats. Gross…”
I am not sure if this one is true or not. My thoughts are though that as many hits as he does take that his jersey would be shredded by about game 3 so I am going to have to say that this one is out also.
3.“It looks like he’s using old fashioned eye black in the photo instead of the tape used by many.”
I think I might be able to get behind this idea.
I enjoyed this
Made me stop wondering why we are debating why Adrian Peterson’s jersey is dirty

Awesome video!
.
That whole thing is great… I just wish AD was just a fraction slower and that guy at 3:29 would have had a chance to dive at his feet…. whiff !!!

Let's hope this year is another highlight reel...
I believe the 'push off' cost us 'our' SuperBowl...
I believe you 'go for the win'... instead of 'taking a knee'...

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

Football handoffs
Is my guess. I’m sure they do SEVERAL of those in pre game warm ups also.

Field turf is made of ground tires. It is formed in to green “blades” to be grass like, than black pebbles are used. The black on his jersey is from the field turf filler.

Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.
Then why don't all the Vikings have them?

All the RBs have them. The guys who end up face down on the ground have them. RBs, linemen, LBs. AP is on the ground 25 times a game, that’s why he has the most obvious ones. Check out Albert Young and Ian Johnson last game. Its from the turf.
