Don't kill me, but it's time for another Favre post. Sounds like Sage is struggling in training camp and Tarvaris is gonna be a bit rusty when Preseason begins due to lack of time on the field, lets hope he doesn't get injured. I will give the fact that Sage hasn't had much time to develop with this offense, and I haven't seen him, only read about what he's done. But if were thinking that a guy whos thrown one more touchdown pass than interception in his career can get the job done, does it really seem logical? Why does the team like to put their faith in mediocre quarterbacks? Tarvaris can't get the job done when it comes down to the wire, Sage loses games he's ahead of. Am I the only one who sees something wrong here? There is still a blatantly obvious problem at the quarterback position. Were trying to convince ourselves once again that a miracle will happen and two quarterbacks will suddenly end their streak as non-performers and step up. Coming across an article on the sports.yahoo.com page I found something interesting.
He has some good points. Why would a quarterback who is still very capable, still continue to work out? Why also would he want to play training camp when he already knows the offense inside and out, and he'd already have the starting job? He still wants to stick it to the Packers. And the Vikings are in no fit position to say NO to Favre if he decides to play with the Vikings in the end. Besides there'd be no point in putting him in the Preseason, risking him getting injured. Then the months of Favre talk would still be a waste, but in a much more gut punching finish. Favre is perfectly capable coming in the first day of the season. Hell, he said "I may be ready by November 1st" which might have been just a pun but nevertheless. But one may ask "Why wouldn't he just tell the Vikes that he would decide at a later date?" Well for one there'd be no quarterback competition. You'd have no reason for Jackenfels the throw the ball around when there is no hope of either of them winning the starting job. You'd have two very angry quarterbacks. Also, it would most likely anger fans more. Which is easier to do? Say "Im staying retired" or saying " I want to play, but I want to miss all of training camp and the preseason and still be the number one starter." All I'm saying is Favre can still play. And that's what the Vikings need. Especially if the Vikings aren't doing too good midseason and they get a call from Favre telling them to strip the number off Booty's back, he'll be in Minneapolis shortly. Thoughts?
