Vikings Sign RB Antone Smith
According to a Tweet from @VikingsFootball, a new name has been added to the roster: rookie runningback Antone Smith.
Smith signed with the Detroit Lions on May 8 as an undrafted free agent but was cut on July 27. He had a great high-school career, being named the top runningback recruit in the nation as well as being named a Parada All-American, Palm Beach County Player of the Y ear, Old Spice National Player of the Year, and MVP of both the Nike Camp and the CalFlorida Bowl.
Clearly, Smith has an impressive resume. And an incredibly fast 40 time of 4.25.
He could be a very nice third RB option and special teams player thanks to his great speed.

There must be a reason the Lions released him though

I don't care if it's the Lions
No team in the NFL is going to let go of talent…unless they can’t afford him or he has character issues….i’m assuming that Antone Smith has some character issues

He seems to have incredible balance.
Reading about him, he apparently was the #1 RB prospect in the nation coming out of high school. But I am missing his 4.25 fourty time. I mean, if he REALLY ran a 4.25 he would be on the raiders. Likely it was a hand-timed 40,
The info I have has him at a 4.41, but that was his MSL college combine in Miami. He also posted a whopping 27 bench reps, had to check if MSL was different than the NFL and it is 185 instead of 225. Bummer.
Anyhow, he looks fast and hard to tackle.
Wikipedia has his 40 at 4.25...
… and we all know that we can trust that to a t.

I think it is time to allow Chester achance to show his future team a contract year
I know some will disagree. Chester is a great player. but he deserves achance to show a different team that he can kick some Arss.. He deserves to start, and we have several quality backups to the Best RB in the League, Adrian Peterson. Also we could get some trade value for him.
The question is can any of our back-up RB’s handle 3rd down responsibilities like CT can and can they be a reciever like CT can. Cuz AD lacks in those areas (picking up blitzes and receiving). If the answer is yes, then I agree we should see what we can get for CT.

Rainbows and Flowers
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
Seems we’re stacked at running back. Time to deal, I say.
In AP I trust

Antone Smith
Cut by the Lions….
Because, of course, the Lions have so much talent in the RB position that they just don’t have any space for an RB who can perform in the NFL the way his college highlight reel indicates.
Sure. There’s something wrong with this guy, and it looks like either the Vikes front office thinks they can handle it or fix it. It’s going to be so much fun finding out what it is.
