Randall McDaniel
What a class act this guy is! He gave credit to his parents, family, friends, teammates, coaches, to his brother linemen who stood with him.
He battled on the line for the Vikings for 12 years and was key to every success of the Minnesota offense from 1988 to 1999. 12 consecutive Pro Bowl appearances and 202 consecutive game starts, he was a true Iron Man Viking.
The Mighty Purple is well represented tonight with the induction of Randall McDaniel, the 9th man from the Minnesota Vikings organization to be enshrined at Canton, Ohio.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
Right on 'bro.
Randall McDaniel was a pro’s pro. Just sorry he didn’t finish his career with the Vikes.

Randall
When an offensive lineman makes it to the shrine it’s a beautiful thing. And off the field he was class act to boost.
Congrats to a helluva player.
Mort
If you can get your hands on the ball you should be able to catch it no matter what!
Congrats Randall
It’s always great to see a Viking make the HOF but it also brings a little bitterness to me. I watched the part where Bob Hayes was inducted and the remarks his son made about wishing he were here to receive his award….HEY!!! HOF JUDGES!!! ARE YOU LISTENING??? It’s a damn shame that some of these great players die before their inductions. The judges still have a chance to make it right for one of the best and durable defensive ends ever to play the game-Jim Marshall. C’mon guys. Vote the guy in while he’s still with us to enjoy it!

how is it that the guy who has started more consecutive games than any other player, in one of the most physically demanding positions still not make the Hall?

Cris Carter and Jim Marshall
Here’s hoping the voters will wake up and grant these guys their rightful place in the HOF.
Cris Carter
Never played in a SB, let alone win one. He will make it eventually, but I can see why a guy like Micheal Irvin made it before him. It is very special to be a champion especially when you have done it multiple times. So when you don’t its not a given that #’s will get you into the Hall.
Did I hear right? McDaniel was named to the NFL first team 9 consecutive times? Even 9 times in a career is staggering. That would get anybody into the Hall of Fame.
Bernard, Percy and AP oh my!
HOF
The Hall of Fame is supposed to consist of players who had stellar careers, not simply because they won championships. Cris was named to the Pro Bowl 6 straight times but since you don’t seem to think that numbers count for consideration to the Hall, check this out…
Receptions Yards Touchdowns
Cris Carter 1101 (2) 13,899 (6) 130 (2)
Michael Irvin 750 (24) 11,904 (16) 65 (39)
Art Monk 940 (7) 12,721 (12) 68 (31)
Career Rankings in Parenthesis
As you can see, with the exception of total yards, Cris smoked Irvin and Monk in every other category, ranking 2nd all time in two of them. I don’t see Irvin or Monk in the top 5 on any stat yet they both made the Hall over Cris.
NFL Network recently ranked the top ten receivers with the best hands in the history of the game. Cris Carter won hands down (pardon the pun). Name me one other wideout with as many one-handed grabs as him. You can’t.
The guys who try to argue that he doesn’t belong there are the same ones who point out that Jim Marshall shouldn’t be there because he ran the wrong way with a fumble early in his career-yet the man played 20 straight seasons at defensive end without missing a game. Bruce Smith made it with 4 Super Bowl losses. Why not Cris Carter and Jim Marshall???
i saw the top ten receivers with the best hands. carter even beat out lester ‘stickum’ hayes. now if you can catch better than a guy with glue on his hands….that says something.

Stickum
I remember Lester Hayes well. Good thing the league finally outlawed the stuff. There was another story about “stickum” involving the L.A. Lakers in their 1980 title run. Spencer Haywood was on the team and had an illegal substance problem so bad it was affecting his play so he thought that stickum would improve his ball control. It pissed the other players off as it was affecting their games negatively. Haywood was kicked off the team before the finals and L.A. went on to win the championship.
How many years dide it take Art Monk to even get in though?
He was the guy Chris Carter kept passing in all those categories to move to second all-time, and it took him like 10 years to get in.

Quite A Few
Even though it took Art Monk much longer than it should have to get in the HOF, his numbers pale in comparison to Cris Carter’s. Cris not only passed Art in all those categories, he flat blew him away.
I missed it live,
but found it on NFL.com. Brought a tear to my eye.
