Greg Lewis?

Greg Lewis and the rest of the ex-Eagles that Chilly brought over, (Hicks, Tapeh, McMullen, Pinkston, McMahon, Detmer), all share something in common.  They..aren't..good.  Hicks is the only guy you can say anything good about--he's at least been serviceable.

Greg Lewis's career numbers from NFL.com:

His best year was in '05 when he had 561 receiving yards starting all 16 games.

Now I understand that that they wanted someone that could play both the outside and the slot.  But how about someone with a little more upside?  He's 29 years old and has never shown a lot of promise.  Maybe he'll be a "leader" to our young receivers, but I thought Wade was fine for that role.

And above all, I would have liked to seen some loyalty to a player that took a 50% paycut to stay with our team.  Bobby Wade, you will be missed.

his renegotiated contract was not secured… there must have been something ‘pending’.
maybe someday we’ll get ‘the rest of the story’…

I believe the 'push off' cost us 'our' SuperBowl...
I believe you 'go for the win'... instead of 'taking a knee'...

Greg Lewis

The story i read said that lewis can back up each wide out position ,And that he is a good gunner on punt and kickoff coverage.Coach Chilli has said all along that backup players have to contribute on special teams i don’t see were wade fits on special team’s at this time. And whenever a team wants a player to take a cut in pay and he’s not a starter his time on the team will be short lived. And there is no loyalty in pro sports its an ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS that says what can you do for me NOW AT THE RIGHT PRICE ITS JUST THE WAY IT IS.

by Bako- on Sep 11, 2009 2:17 AM CDT reply actions

Sorry, but I would have to disagree on the point that just because this is an entertainment business, there is should be no loyalty.

The best teams are the ones who learn to work together as a team. That usually means teams that have been together a while and can trust each other, knowing what each person will tend to do in given situations. This feeling of trust also extends to the coaches, owners and the rest of the staff.

The Vikings and Wade reworking his contract, so that he didn’t have to be cut, send signs of “we want you and together we will find a way to keep you”. Then a few days later, they drop you out of the blue for someone around the same caliber (or in my opinion, worse)? I would be pissed. “We want you…..oh! nevermind, just saw an old friend!”

Beyond this, everything else seems to be working out fine. We will see how our QBs work out (if Favre gets injured).

All I can think is that, when we signed Wade, people criticized the signing. But apparently alot of people, myself included, grew to like the guy. Who knows, maybe the same will happen with Lewis. One upside is, of course, we now get to see more Harvin, and our younger guys will actually be getting snaps in a real game.

He's a solid 4th or 5th WR

He used to start next to TO and did AWFUL (too small). He makes some good plays here and there and has solid hands. Probably not good a good slot WR either

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

So we dropped a solid 3rd or 4th for a solid 4th or 5th.

Makes sense.

Yes

Because all of those offensive PI penalties were sooooo helpful to our offensive prowess.

You can teach a guy to be less prone to getting flagged for that kind of thing rather quickly.

What you cannot do is teach a guy 2 years worth of experience in a particular system in 5 days.

I would rather have Allison as well.

I remember seeing a quote from Bevel about how allison was his own worst enemy and that he would pretty much do whatever he wanted out on the field. I got the notion he wasn’t very coachable.

Allison

Looks like he’s not doing too badly with the Jets, even though they have him listed as being on IR…

Hey PPE!

How did you get that sweet formatting to copy over from NFL.com?!

Well Wade was an asshole in the locker room.

by clones21 on Sep 11, 2009 5:00 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah, all I've heard is that everybody in the locker room liked B.Wade?

In fact, I heard that B.Berrian wore a B.Wade jersey to work today.

by chaosg on Sep 11, 2009 9:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Seriously?

You must have pulled that one out of your asshole.

Heh, yea. A 5’10" 180lb aging receiver is the asshole in the locker room. Do you realize how quickly that kind of attitude would be stamped out in a locker room?

by Bjorno on Sep 12, 2009 1:23 PM CDT up reply actions

it’ just another showing of Brad Childress’ brilliance….i mean c’mon, why keep a guy who’s done nothing but be a solid slot reciever and give up millions to play for you? Brad’s theory….“If at first I don’t succeed, sign a backup from the last team I was with.” (McMahon/Lewis/Detmer/McMullen)

by jackscoldsweat on Sep 11, 2009 11:52 PM CDT reply actions

I was happy for the first time in three years at almost every single locker room move they made this year.

Then Chilly goes and pulls this crap. This is as much of a dick move as docking someone pay for going to their grandmother’s funeral.

by Bjorno on Sep 12, 2009 1:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Wade out Lewis in

Ever since Childress was hired I’ve thought he would make a great librarian

A wash but

It is a wash, Lewis a better ST’s guy but not as good a WR…the Vikes have some good depth (young) at WR…would rather have added and Oline man for depth….maybe they wanted to have a Vet that was not as mouthy as Wade.

I take back

Everything I said! He is now my hero. :)

haha

This post is hilarious looking back on it. Everyone was like, this guys a joke why did we do that? When I saw the touchdown today I thought to myself, who made that catch, I don’t know that number. Way to go, we as fans should let things play out before we start throwing disses everywhere. But we won’t lol… Beautiful touchdown!
